I purchased the top of the line cub cadet from home depot. The sales staff was friendly and they did a good job at answering my questions. after the purchase is when the problems began. i get this item home and hook up the battery and its dead. OK i can understand it may have been sitting for a while so i charge the battery and start it. the battery will not hold a charge they must not have kept them charged after they assemble the unit. so i replace the battery because its not worth my time to go to home depot to argue that that the battery is not under warranty. so I get it started and activate the pto. I hear a really bad noise so i shut off the tractor. i see the blades are hitting the deck. ok time to read the instructions. well i would love to but the instruction set was in a bag that was wet and never dried so the instructions are destroyed and the extra key was rusty. getting a little fired up now. ok get online and download the instruction set found the deck was not assembled properly. i repaired it and now the mower works good. now its time to wash the deck for the first time. i am to understand i have to buy the adapter to wash the deck. when im reading the instructions to do so it tells me the adapter is supplied in the packed that is saposed to come with my tractor. so lets recap. I spend 2600 on a tractor i need to replace the battery and repair the deck and replace the instructions and purchase a spare key and adapter because they will not supply me with such. i have never had this much trouble with where i normally go but they do not sell higher end lawn mowers so my advice will be to not purchase anything from home depot. if they dont care about a item like this think about the other items they sell.

Well here is my first negative post about Home Depot, which I have enjoyed for a long time doing business with. 2 carpet installs, 1 flooring, dishwasher install, plus much more in the last 2 years. I spent close to $1,000 dollars on a brand new Cub Cadet Snow Blower on 10-20-2013. The unit worked for exactly 15 minutes and broke on the first major snowfall (belt broke.) After 15-20 minutes on the phone with the Monticello MN manager Brett, he finally said to bring it and and he would have his asst manager look at it. I brought it and the asst manager was very helpfull (took it all apart himself) to find out that it was a manufacturer defect, he could not "fix" it at his location. He then called to Home Depots service center in Maple Grove Mn to try and get a rush on it and was told they could handle it. So I drove thirty miles to drop it off, remember in MN it snows often. (shoveled driveway twice since it broke.) The Maple Grove Location said they would look at it soon and give me a call in the next couple of days. 4 days later, no phone call, no nothing. I was informed when I dropped it off that they do not know if they are authorized "Cub Cadet" warranty facility and may have to be shipped and it could take 5-6 weeks. I was informed that I can not bring the unit back because it was past the 30 day return by 15 days. I would not recomend purchasing any large equipment from Home Depot, purchase it at an authorized Cub Cadet dealer with an authorized service dept. It wouldnt have been that much more and they would have been able to take care of the customer. Come on $1000 for 15 minutes and then a possible 5-6 week wait in MN durring the snowiest time of the year. Poor - Poor customer service.

After living in Plymouth, MN and experiencing terrible customer service we swore to never step foot in another Home Depot… After moving out to Monticello area I have to say that I have had nothing but pleasant experiences, mostly with a gentleman in the paint department named Joel. I am a first time home owner and he has become our go-to guy for us for all our questions. This past December I had an experience at your Monticello, MN Home Depot that just was truly remarkable and blew me away! I went into your store looking to build a donation box for Arrow’s Heart Animal Rescue that I foster dogs through, as donations are a huge part of what allows us to pay our vet bills. I know nothing, and was looking for a bird house to paint to look like a dog house and cut a hole in top for donations (since I would most likely lose a hand if I tried to build one). Instead your department supervisor Jason Loberg said that he had made some bird houses before and would gladly figure something out and to write down my information and they would call me when it was done. I got the call and when I went to pick it up I was shocked at how AMAZING this donation box looked and then he said that the box was a donation and I did not even have to pay for it! Other employees put their ideas into the making of this box as well… it was painted, fake grass added, as well as even a lock! I was so blown away at how kind Jason was to take his own time to make a donation box for us, it sure stands out and we have had a lot more donations since it has been being displayed! I know that an employee named CeeCee (spelling?) also had a part in the making as well. Thank you Jason Loberg, and Monticello Home Depot staff!

Sure, the store is great at getting in, purchasing your stuff and getting help doing so. Yet when I went in to purchase a lawn trimmer they were sold out of the one I wanted, except for a display model that they charged me full price for, no discount. A week and a half after purchasing it, I went to exchange it for a boxed up shelf unit, because I didn’t want to deal with any issues that come up with owning a display unit that might have been dropped, etc. through its life on the shelf. The returns people gave me a very hard time when trying to exchange this thing. I never even tried it out. I guess I should have just gone in, returned it and then went over to buy it again. At least I was able to get the exchange. Look at their return policy buried under some tabs on the website. In the center of the page you’ll find this: “The Home Depot reserves the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of merchandise at any time and for any reason.” Pathetic, is all I have to say

They allow well behaved dogs which is amazing during the winter when dogs are all cooped up. My normally well behaved and potty trained dog pooped in there today. One older employee who passed by I asked for a paper towel, he either said you can find one... or I can find one but then never came back. A long haired employee named Tim passed by and went to grab a cleaning cart. I told him I would get it all myself as it was my fault, but he got down on his hands and knees and helped me scrub the floor. Didnt make me feel worse about it, just helped me out.
