There is a culture of indifference in the staff, excluding one cashier who exhibits a pattern of rudeness. One particular staff member who I see around different parts of the store is uniformly professional and friendly, but is the exception. Regarding the Delu, the hot chicken is usually dry, so I finally gave up buying it. Staff fail to advise patrons of ways to save money at the Deli, too, which I found out quite by accident. I had been buying several products and discovered if I bought a platter, I could get more of what I had been ordering for less expense. Of all the staff Ive encountered at the Deli, only one was transparent. I will only by from the Deli if she is working, but have not seen her in a couple of months, which makes me think she moved on, which would not surprise me. The Staff need training in basic societal norms, but I must say I like that some young people working for them must be family, as they get away with more flippant comments than a larger store or chain, which is rather endearing, yet borderline risky due to possibly offending patrons. If things dont improve, Ill move on to another store.

I love this market! I first went there a few weeks ago and have been back 3-4 times since. It combines the best qualities of Seward Coop and an upscale grocery store like Kowalskis. There are plenty of bulk items (even spices; although not quite as extensive a selection as the coop), there is a great deli section and meat counter, and way more organic vegetables to choose from than a Kowalskis. I agree with the reviewer that what they stock is well-chosen, even down to the BPA-free bottles for water. We went there for our Thanksgiving shopping and were able to get everything we needed, instead of having to go to the coop for things like organic veggies and then a conventional grocery store for things like Ritz crackers. Plus, unlike the coop, it was not crowded and there was plenty of parking. I suppose this will change as the store gets more popular. Last but not least, I have also found the staff to be very helpful and friendly on every visit. This is a great addition to the area.

This small, local grocer makes up for its slightly higher prices on some items by having other items at lower prices like Home Run pizza, frozen fruit pies & veges, and seafood. Near the entrance are a few bulk goods bins with rice, candy, oats, sesame sticks-you get the idea. Its kept very clean! The deli is fantastic with daily lunch/dinner takeout specials, and the meat department is definitely worth the higher prices because its a decent quality thats cut & packaged right (I.e. no bone shards in every cut like the big box a mile away;) The butchers will prepare any cut you like, and with a day or 2 notice theyll do the same for bulk, which is very convenient for summer barbecues! The produce section is small, but they have a decent organic selection and seasonal fruits & vegetables grown locally. They also carry Organic Valley dairy at lower prices than the big box store a mile away!

This is exactly what the neighborhood needed. Great convenient location, friendly staff, with a good selection of local dairy and meats. As another reviewer said, Longfellow Market lies right in the middle of a co-op and a Cub, which is a mix that is nice for the wallet and the palate. The only reason I didnt give that last star was that the produce section still needs some work -- though they have a good organic selection, its not always as fresh as it could be. This is probably due to low turnover, so to fix it -- yall need to start shopping here more! :) Seriously though, great little store. Ill update my rating when they figure out their produce.

Cool market in the heart of Longfellow. Bigger than a bodega but smaller than a Cub/WholeFoods. About the size of a big co-op or a a small Trader Joes. They carry a comboy of organic an normal food. (One complaint: sometimes you just want a bit of parsly and dont want to pay $4 for organic, but thats all they have. They have a big selection and a few bargain-priced store brand. Nice bulk food selection (I love teh "Fishermans Mix" 8055!!!!) Friendly staff. Nice deli. Perfect neighborhood store. May be 5% more than Cub, but the ambiance (and the fact that they clean up spills!) is worth it! Its also about 10% less than Lund/Byerlys/WholeFoods.

I enjoy shopping there but I cant afford to do all my shopping at Longfellow market. I think if the prices were more competitive, more people would shop there more often. The people that work there are very nice and helpful. Im sure everybody in this neighborhood would rather shop there than shop at cub. Longfellow market is a nice clean place to shop. Cub will often have people asking for money in the parking lot and other problems with crime. If I never had to shop there again it would be just fine with me.

Neighborhood grocery that is clean and very well maintained. It has most everything you might need, bar a few oddities or ethnic items that many stores wouldnt have either. Prices are higher than other (larger) grocery stores, but it has convenience! Large shopping trips are reserved for the bigger stores (Lunds, Target, etc), but I love being able to wander over and grab whatever we might need. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Love having a nice, independent grocery store right in the neighborhood. Nice deli and produce areas. Plenty of variety, very attractive inside and out, large enough for adequate selection and small enough to be easy to get what I need in a reasonable amount of time. Great service and the experience of buying local which contributes to the community.

Produce. BIG IMPROVEMENT! Happy to say that the new manager of produce is kickin it. Dustin has completely turned around the produce department. What was once a sad corner in the store has become a fresh oasis of produce that looks edible and delicious. Thank you Longfellow Market and special shout out to Dustin for turning it around.

I want to really love this place, but the produce is very consistently mediocre. Still, it is great having a local grocery and I hope they continue to improve over the years! Prices are surprising competitive, so if they can up their produce game to be as good as the meat counter, Id definitely give them the full five stars.

Perfect size Market for the neighborhood. Great staff , great deli ,meat options, and for a store this size the produce is well managed too. The weekly specials and sales with selections ranging from organic to generics beat the Co-ops for cost , and Big Boxes for everything else! Locally owned.

My dad had to pee so he pulled over and popped into the Longfellow Market. He said he enjoyed the experience so much because the bathrooms were convenient and he didnt have to talk to anybody. He enjoyed it so much he asked me if I could find a way to rate your bathroom 5 stars. Thank you that is all

Great location, parking makes this convenient and fast. The staff is polite and helpful. It has good stock and quality. It is a full service grocery in a small package. It is not cut rate in prices, but Longfellow Market does deliver on grocery that is in the neighborhood.
