I LOVE or maybe loved this place previously but my last experience brought on a surprising level of disappointment - not only with selling items, but also their selection. I brought in a bag of clothes, a bag of accessories and a brand new pair of heels, still in the box. I dropped them off and was excited to wonder the store (I also have a $50 gift card burning a hole in my pocket as well). As I looked around I was excited to see the accessories - they have a great selection - but then I started looking at the price tags...$11 for a necklace, $17 for a pair of obviously worn shoes...then I saw a pair of sandals, TARGET sandals for $9.50 from two summers ago. Are you kidding? TARGET brand anything, 2nd hand, for over $8 is insane, no matter what it is. I can go on Amazon and get the same quality of merchandise NEW for that - AND fee shipping, AND then I dont have to use gas or my time either! The dresses were the same, many low brand items, priced over $10 and they werent that well taken care of either. And let me tell you - anything youre trying to sell that has a stain on it - please, dont be pretentious enough to sell it for over $12. Just dont. Then, the nice gal at the front desk politely told me that they didnt want anything I had - which I am typically TOTALLY fine with hearing, no problem - but comparing what I had - many higher quality items, barely worn - to what they were attempting to sell at prices I can get all those items at on a good clearance day...I left confused on disappointed. Over all I have to say this round, I was highly disappointed with what they were trying to sell at the prices they were doing so. I understand that Uptown is growing and changing, but why you didnt want my $120 ALDO heels I wore once for a wedding this year, but you bought someones TARGET sandals, from 2 summers ago, and tried to sell them instead? You have got to be kidding. I do plan to try again in a few weeks - hoping for better luck next time!

Once again, Im reminded why I dont trade or shop here anymore. I used to go all the time, but in the last 5 years or so the quality has gone downhill while the snobbery has gone up. They took a few of my items and left some, to be expected. Then the girl pricing everything rapid fire gave me what theyd sell for (could barely hear her), what my trade or sell prices would be and then walked away before I could respond. I looked around and decided on a few items to trade and ended up waiting close to ten minutes for someone to help me at the register. There were hardly any customers, but about 8 staff. Its a tiny store. When I asked them to confirm the numbers, because it didnt sound like what I had barely heard earlier, the same girl comes over and gives the WORST attitude. Starting to talk to me as if Im two, shes never even given me a second to say anything to her as she kept talking over me when I tried to speak. This is just one example of what I experience here every couple years when I forget how bad it was last time. I took the ten bucks cash instead (for the items that they sold at 40% mark up) and will definitely never go back. Not making that mistake again.

I would have given Buffalo Exchange a 5 star rating, however, a lot of clothing youd imagine they would buy- they do not. They have interesting criteria for buying clothing. However, My 2 experiences trading clothing with the Buffalo Exchange have been amazing! They offer 30% Cash OR 50% In-Store Credit. I cleaned out my closet and put about 50 things in a couple bags. I got $54.00 store credit for clothing I never thought Id wear again! They accept womens and mens clothing. Their mens clothing section is significantly smaller than the womens, so if you have urban/trendy mens clothing/accessories/shoes Id suggest going there and trying to get some money for them! They have an amazing selection of womens clothing to buy, too- At pretty decent prices. Most trendy blouses/shirts are around $8.00 - $16.00 and they often mark down clothing. The staff is incredibly friendly. I have never gone there and gotten an attitude from the lovely ladies behind the counter- Even if the clothing Ive brought in is things they dont want! Their polite, helpful and will always recommend cute things that they have in-store.

I keep going here both to buy and sell clothes and have grown tired of the inconsistent buyers and overpriced merchandise. I recently brought a bunch of clothes in because the website said they were specifically looking for mens clothes. I had several pairs of Levis and Gap 1969 jeans in very good condition, as well as some other good quality cheaper items very much on par with what they have on their racks. None of it was purchased and when I asked what they were looking for, they said they needed more mens button down shirts. Apparently the 8 button up flannels I brought in didnt meet that criteria. The real kicker for me was the $250 pair of Prada sunglasses I brought in which have a very minor scratch way up at the top of the lens. They didnt buy them because "We dont want to price something down that we want to price up." Id say that meaningless statement just about sums it up. Ill give two stars because the employees were nice, but Im done going here, and most people I know stopped going a long time ago.

I bring in some pretty top of the line brands, helmut lang, free people, theory, and other high end labels I wont bother to mention. The issue I have is the way they seem to judge, example..I brought in a $168.00 free people dress with tags, and they only offered $14. Now the glitter girl with the bee hive was like..."oh did you miss the return date? Why wont you just return it? Its lovely..so how did you get this dress?" As if how I get my clothing is a relevant question. Either way I had to say, because she was talking so loud, that what I do for work affords me nice gifts and I am not in a position for receipt hounding on such gifts, nor do I need such expensive clothing, and that I also am not a fan of free people hobo shieck, so Id like to sell. Then $14 was the offer. $324 helmut lang tank..unmentionable the offer on that!! But when i look through the store they have mid brand labels and Target brands overpriced!! Forever 21...ugh overpriced!! No real high end designer brands. Best selling online...

Shopping here is fun. I may not always find something thats a must-have, but they always have new stuff coming in. I especially like browsing the accessories and shoes. I also has a great selling experience here. I brought in about 20 items, and they bought about 15 of them. They told me exactly what they would sell each item for and how much I would get. I could make the choice to sell item-by-item. They liked more and offered more than I had expected. This was by-far the best in-store selling experience I have ever had. Compared to some other shops around town, this selling process was fair, and they were candid about everything. There was no snobbery when they turned down my Old Navy jeans, but they were enthusiastic about the items they did take. I will definitely buy and sell here again.
