This day had to end with no power at home! Anyone know Galon at Carquest in Holly? So, after Loushyns swollen little hand/nursemaids elbow resolved itself the moment we arrived at the doctors office, we had to head straight back to Holly (instead of my appointments for the evening) to fix the battery in my minivan. Ryan said to go to AutoZone because they would be cheaper. Nope! Carquest was AND this happened: It wasnt the battery. It was the alternator. Based on the "symptoms," Galon recognized it right away. He informed that, yes, my battery was dead and four years old, but he was willing to recharge it for me so we could get a few more months out of it. He then asked if I wanted him to test the alternator. We opted to have both replaced. Then, Galon proceeds to change the battery for me even while he was the only one at his store. The little lip-thingy that holds the battery down is rusted on top. The part on the underside that is supposed to anchor the lip-thingy that holds the battery in place is just spinning. So, he could not get the battery out. In and out of the store, helping customers, answering the phone, more fussing with the lip-thingy. Finally, he gets the battery out and puts the new one in. Now, we can at least drive it for half a second. Then, he installs the alternator, too! The poor guy is on the wet ground, my kids are bouncing around in the minivan and in and out of his store (but at least we know Loushyns arm is not broke), the wind is gusting like crazy, and I hear he has not had lunch... It was around 4:00 by now. 5:00 rolls around, he is still helping me with my van, helping his customers, running his store... He was friendly, chatting with me and answering the gazillion questions the kids had for him. His kindness and consideration is something for others to strive for. He had no idea of the day we were having, nor that it would continue to be long and difficult and end with no power. He was kind anyway. I am so thankful we stopped at the smaller store. The service is almost always better (this time it was the best service I have experienced, ever), AND the prices were better. If you are in my area, and you took the time to read this, I hope you consider shopping at Carquest for your auto parts. I promise, it will be a pleasant experience!

There is NO substitute for the quality of service that comes from YEARS of experience in an industry with so many variables as automobile replacement parts. CarQuest in Holly, MI 48442 provides a level of customer service far beyond what can be offered by teenagers staffing stores with huge advertising budgets, good intentions aside. When I walk in to a parts store with a dozen ideas from all over the web (NOT being a real mechanic myself), these people help narrow things down based on real world experience. To walk in requesting an expensive part based on my "best guess" solution, and have them offer a $2 solution instead is just REMARKABLE! I am DELIGHTED in a world over-flowing with self-indulging rip-off artists to do business with HONEST, trust-worthy EXPERTS! HIGHEST recommendations!!!
