Disorganized with bad information from the start. I found a truck through GMCs website, verified the pricing on LaFontaines website, then contacted the dealer. I heard back from a concierge, Eric Szymczak, with a quote showing pricing that was almost $4,000 higher. Once I emailed back their own link and he checked with his manager, he was able to confirm the lower price. After a few more emails I scheduled a visit. I was told I would be meeting with the sales manager Joe Hill and the truck would be ready for me to look at. The day of my visit I arrived early and told the receptionist I had an appointment with Joe. She brought back one of the salesmen, Barry Mitch, who would be helping me instead. Barry had my file, but was unsure of the specific vehicle I was interested in. After I pulled up their stock number on my phone, Barry found the truck in the computer and I asked to take a test drive. I was left to wait since the truck had to be found on the lot and cleared of the snow from earlier that week. Once we got out for a test drive, we discussed pricing. My main uncertainty was what price I would be charged sales tax on since the advertised price was about $9,000 less than the msrp and secondly what the other fees would be. Barry assured me I would only pay tax on the final price. The next oddity was when the dealership called wondering why I was late for my appointment while we were driving, a oversight in the system I was told. Once we got back and reviewed the numbers on paper, I realized that tax was charged on an intermediate (supplier) price which added to the total figure. Then, although I previously explained I wasnt trading in a vehicle, I was given a total price which didnt include plates (another $300+). I explained the total price was higher than I was looking for so Barry, after checking with his manager, was able to knock $300 off. I asked to take the truck overnight to show my wife and was on my way after some paperwork. I was headed back Friday when Barry called and suggested I keep the truck another night because I was still uncertain. He explained he would come in Saturday, just for me, and we decided to meet at 10 when they opened. The next day I arrived to find Barry with another customer. Thankfully LaFontaine does have a nice kids area since I had my wife and young son along. After some time, we finally sat down and I explained that the price was still a little high. Barry had to check with his manager again and said we could split the difference. Unfortunately I realized that they were splitting the difference from their original figure instead of what we last discussed. They could not come down any further, so we shook hands and I left. While I realize it was a small difference in the end, the whole experience was anything but "the family deal" LaFontaines famous for. Hopefully I can find a similar truck at a dealer who is truly interested in my business without the games.

My Husband and I went into the dealership 6 months ago and leased a new truck.... Went well. Went in last week and started looking into trading my car in. I was dealing with Brian Kanyak. The first day everything went well.... I test drove two vehicles, then the next day I was being blown off, everything I was asking for he didnt have on the lot. So I called my husband and had him come up because I was getting the run around! He came up to the dealership and agin we were getting the run around.... So we went out on the lot to see for our selves what they had. We found a six cylinder that we were told he did not have. When sitting at his desk and looking out seeing rows of these Terrians I found it hard to believe that he didnt have one. Then we asked to test drive one and he wanted to talk us out of test driving it because I had already test drove a 6 cylinder Acadia "they drive the same" really? What is wrong with someone asking to drive the exact vehicle that they were interested in. Then that night I built one exactly as I wanted and sent it to him via email to get the payment and see if he could find one like it. I went to see him around 3 and he knew I was coming around 3. I told him I never heard back from him and he claims he never received it. My husband was cc in email and received it. Hmmm.... Ok then he had to be begged to try and find one that had the closest options I wanted on it. After looking it up he found three. He then said I will call them later and it will take a few days to get them to call back! Really I have been getting new vehicles for 20+ years now and I have never had to wait a few days to hear if they can do a dealer trade!!!! So I left being told to go home and think about it..I had nothing to think about! I knew everything I needed to know other than could I get one of the three closest to the one I wanted! So I left feeling BLOWN OFF AGAIN! I called my husband and he said am I signing papers tonight! I told him no I needed to wait to hear from him.... And to go home and think about it! Well that costed him two new vehicles! We went to another local dealer and I drove home in a vehicle that night went back the next morning signed the papers and were treated with respect!!!! I would love to hear back from someone from this dealership!!!! Still to this day which it has been 5 days since I left being told he will call me and let me know which one I can get dealer trade....no call or contact from Brian!!!!! This is such poor customer service! Shame on him for wasting mine and my husbands time! Three days in a row!!!!

Horrible experience with the service department. Bunch of insane crooks. And worst of all? I find out later this is pretty typical behavior for them. My problem started when my Pontiac Vibe needed a minor repair. My warranty required me to tow it to an approved dealership, and LaFontaine was the closest so I gave it the okay. When I picked up the car, after waiting a long time, I was focused on how it was running (just fine) and so we settled up and I drove off. I was mere yards from the dealership when I saw a crack in the lower passenger side of my windshield, which quickly spread across the entire windshield, forcing me to turn back immediately for their assistance. When I asked how this happened, they scratched their heads and said it mustve been there. This turns into a long drawn-out affair where the tow truck driver backs me up saying he inspected it thoroughly at delivery and there wasnt a single blemish on the windshield (and I KNOW that windshield was ding-free pre-tow), and thats what the repair department signed and agreed to. So I said the dealership, at the VERY LEAST owed me a significant discount on a new windshield. Nope. No discount. In fact, theyre sure its my fault because there are stone dings on the hood, and I should pay them to repair those too. This is when my tone gets pretty stern (not loud, just stern) with them. Apparently a stern female frightens the heck out of the service manager though, because he starts holding up his hands saying "Maam, dont yell, there are babies dying in the world, and this is just a windshield. Could you have a little perspective please?" I let him know that hed be aware if my voice was actually raised, and that this was unreasonable. Bottom line: I paid full price for a new windshield. When I complained to some long-time, reputable community members I know, I heard THREE other personal accounts of the EXACT SAME cracked windshield problem from this same dealerships service department. In each case, the people had to pay "full price" for a new windshield. Do they have some kind of windshield scam going on? Based on how quickly defensive the service manager was, Im guessing yes. Glad they treat their Cadillac customers well, but Id stay far, far away from their swindling, thieving service department.
