Convenient, but overpriced - and they will gouge you on holidays and events like Super Bowl. Most workers there are pretty cool, but some just dont get the concept of customer service. One area where this is displayed is at the deli counter. They close down slicers well before the closing time of 9pm (7:00), and give you attitude when you want your selection cut a certain way - or try to hurry through it so you cant see what they are doing and in a sense force you to accept it. I know of a man who was literally berated by an employee there in front of other customers for just asking a simple question of the staff. In contrast, the people at the butcher counter are excellent. You can tell they really like what they do and WANT to help. My advice, if you dont like your job or cant/or dont want to follow up on a customers request get a new job. I hope D&W management read this, because it is really a problem that many people are aware of that support your store from the local area. If it does not improve, I will take my business to Forest Hills Foods. But do you care? Probably not, because Spartan might supply that too. Who knows. There is always Meijers too. If you experience the same thing, dont put up with it go somewhere else. For the prices they charge, you would think the service would be top notch.

I had been a D&W shopper for many years, until the arrival of the Meijer Knapp Corner store. Early on I stayed with D&W Plainfield Ave until they did away with the fresh meat counter. I switched to Meijer exclusively. I only stop at D&W when I have little time to show or just an item or two. Today was one of those days. I bought a box of greens, an onion, bacon and a small seedless watermelon. The greens were bad, old and mushy in spots. The watermelon was also soft and mushy. In general other than with Spartan brand canned goods Spartan prices are extremely high. Some of the produce is priced "out of this world. Case in point, Star Fruit. They are typically 1$ higher than Meijer, each. The selection is poor and some of it is just substandard. D&W has its followers for sure. They have certainly never shopped Meijer and really looked at the produce. If you shop for groceries often, two to three times per week, you are throwing away hundreds of dollars ever year. Im not usually one to write reviews but I have been so impressed with the improvements at D&W Breton Village that I wanted to share publicly. They expanded their selection throughout the store (including a great gluten free/vegan section), lowered prices (which was needed), and updated the store but what really stands out to me is the level of customer service that their employees give. They truly seem happy to be there and happy to help and that makes a big difference in the customer experience. Tonight I was dreading a last minute trip to the store for Thanksgiving and though the store was busy all the Thanksgiving essentials were well stocked and the manager was helping give direction to the checkout lines so we barely waited to check out. Thanks for making a normally frustrating trip pleasant.

I go here often in the afternoon. They have a good variety of items. I give it 5 stars mainly because they have a FANTASTIC deli and a really good salad bar. There is also a Starbucks inside. It is conveniently located and has an entrance inside D&W to enter the main mall area without having to go outside and around. There are a bunch of other places in the strip mall area...variety of restaurants, gas station, dry cleaner, etc. If I had one complaint it would be to expand the check-out area. Additional cashiers are needed (at least during the lunch rush) because it takes linger to check out than it should. Good place overall!!

Disclaimer: Im not from Grand Rapids so I cant rate it on how it is as a local grocery store. However, Im giving it four stars for two reasons: 1) They have some great grab and go items like a section for craft beer and hard cider and the best muffins youll ever have (Try the chocolate chip with sugar on top) and 2) The staff are very friendly and keep the store clean. Theres also a coffee shop powered by Starbucks (Nope, not an actual Starbucks but a shop powered by it. Theres a difference) with a section for sitting.

Prices are average to a little bit high but when they have sales they are pretty good. I dont think Ive ever been to a D&W and been disappointed in their service. The last time I went the cashier was incredibly courteous and personable. I wish I got his name because he was terrific and deserves recognition. This location also has a nice selection of unique bulk items and loose leaf teas, with what seems to be an ever expanding vegan variety of foods.

$7.00lb. for cold boneless buffalo wings and mac and cheese from the salad bar... Ive had many items from the Deli and Homemade Pantry that were outstanding, but avoid these at all costs!!!! This store is excellent, and the service is better than any other D&W and far surpasses anything youll receive at their sister stores. Ill pay a little more if it means I dont have to go to the closest Meijer.

Very expensive - products are seriously overpriced, some more than a dollar each for the same exact brand that Meijer and Walmart carry. Store looks nice and has adequate offerings, but I only shop here when I need to pick up a few items quickly, due to the convenient neighborhood location. Otherwise I drive to Meijer or Walmart to save at least $30 on full load shopping trips.

It;s the best even the manager Mohib! The bakery and deli are perfect! Theres a girl named Areeba who works in the bakery and she makes the BEST pizza! And to top it off there is an AMAZING employee named Moneeb who so hard and puts great effort to give the best which is what the customer deserves!

Nice store, very clean and well organized. They have a nice selection of beer and wine, great deli selections, and a Starbucks inside open during the day. The surrounding shopping district of Breton Village has other great selections to add to this D&Ws great grouping of products.

Great deli meats, produce, bulk items, gluten free, beer, and cards. Small selection of everything else, but adequate. Poor meat section.
