Had some major issues with the Hub and a staff member, my bike was there for six weeks - but the manager (kyle) stepped up and did some damage control. after speaking w/ him, i felt a lot better. i will stay away from this place in the future due to the length of time it took for tune-up and the interaction with said staff member. however it must be acknowledged that they did an excellent job on the tune-up/repair- my bike rides better than it ever has. i was also financially compensated for the whole ordeal (generous discount and wholesale cost on part). overall- this is a good shop with people that care about their work and their customers. i had some bad luck with the place, but that does not mean you will, too. my advice is to get a quote on the price beforehand, as well as a time table of when your bike will be done. dont wait three weeks to contact them if you dont hear from them after a week. talk to kyle if you have issues, he will make it right.

Choosing to bicycle is a distinctly political and sometimes revolutionary act. The Hub is all about changing Detroit, the lives of Detroiters, and even challenging auto-culture itself; revolutionary stuff. This is a hands-on, grass roots, bicycle recycling operation. Theyve got a huge cache of forgotten bicycles which are fixed up and sold a few at a time. You can bring in your own beater and theyll make it road ready to your specifications. You can also custom-order a ride to fit your fantastic personal style. If its got two (or three) wheels and no motor, theyll be able to get it back on the road. Vintage, 10-speed, bmx, fixed gear, racer, mountain bike, no problem whatever. You may have to wait a little while when things are backlogged but be patient and youll find they put a lot of care and attention into their work. I suggest getting work done in the winter time instead of waiting for the rush.

If your bike needs minor repairs, replacements, and cleaning, then HUB is a great place to go! However, if your bike is in need of significant mechanical repairs, you would be advised finding a different bike shop. I had my bike serviced about a month ago at HUB, but they werent able to resolve all the issues and I believe created new ones. I had 6 spokes break in the last month alone since the service and the bracket now needs to be replaced. New repairs, which I had asked HUB to resolve, will probably run me $150+. Its a good bike shop with people that are really friendly and do care, but you get what you pay for. As I said, if you need some important mechanical repairs or service (beyond minor issues), I would advise finding somewhere else.

Warning! Kids at the Hub do great work, HOWEVER, they will strip your bike of all easily removable parts such as kickstands, reflectors, etc. I had to return for my unique kickstand and didnt notice that the front reflector was missing until I went out for my first ride, post repair. Not good. Is this how the charity is funded... reselling stolen parts? MAKES YOU WONDER.

Tried calling them for three days straight to inquire about a bike from them. Finally get someone on the phone and am told to "just Google it man" by a lady on the phone. Who hangs up after a twenty second interaction. Would advise people avoid if they want any kind of customer support.

Best bicycle shop in the town. Cheap parts, friendly people. Came to know about the place recently and sooo regret buying some parts over ebay. This place combined with other places near by (eg: Traffic Jam Restaurant) give a feeling that may be there is a hope for Detroit.

Excellent service and inexpensive maintenance and repairs. Reconditioned used bikes for very fair prices. This isnt just a bike shop, its a community of people who love bikes. All proceeds go to a non-profit sister company that helps local youth. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

This is my favorite bike shop. Staff is friendly and courteous, work is excellent and they are clearly participating with their community. You can expect world class service from these folks. When in the Detroit area you should go nowhere else but the Hub.

Purchased a Univega Gran Premio as a commuter. One week in I burst two tires and tubes thus off setting some of the chain and sprocket. The Hub worked and replaced parts on the spot. Quality service and excellent place to go for bicycle needs.

Friendly and knowledgeable employees. Great deals on bike service. I paid $10 for a tube change, and I know the tube alone costs $5.25.
