Aloha, Until last year, I had been living in Hawaii for 26 years. I currently reside on the campus of Wayne State University. Today, I walked up to Milwaukee Street to the North End Station U.S. Post Office. On my way home, I stopped by Detroit Hardware Company to get wing nuts and bolts for the steadycam that I just bought for my High Definition camcorder. In addition to the wing nuts and bolts, I walked out with an apartment sized ironing board, a long-handled dust pan, key bobs, plastic hangers, wooden suit hangers and nutbutter cookies! Since I was walking, I had to leave behind the stainless steel fry pan, the non-stick baking pan, the broom and the alarm clock. Seeing all the elder Black men shopping inside of Detroit Hardware Company reminded me of my youth, when my grandfather would take me shopping with him. Looks like 2 generations of Family running the business, all VERY nice people. I am a retired Civil Engineer and I hafta say that I love the stairway to the second floor. I discovered Detroit Hardware Co a few years ago and prior to that had been driving out to the burbs to find what I needed. Now I go into Detroit Hardware Co. and find exactly what I am looking for without wasting all the gas and time of driving. Plus, they are really very helpful. There have been many times I was stumped by a project and they gave me great advice on how to move forward. I landed on this site because I was looking to be reminded of their hours. I am going there now to get advice on how to best install my wall mount TV...no doubt I will leave with a great solution. I recommend this store hands down-great place.

This is one of the last of the old-style local hardware store. They have almost everything you need and very little of the things you dont. The prices are good, the service is great. Certainly a much better experience when you just want to grab something rather than wander through the big box stores all day.

Had a complicated faucet that was dripping. Brought the whole thing in and the two women there took it apart, figured out what was wrong (after much discussion), charged me 90 cents and sent me on my way. Please utilize this store, it really is a true gem of a bygone era in Detroit.

Awesome selection and location. Some of the prices may be a little higher than big box stores, but they more than make up for this in excellent customer service and great advice and tips. I feel good when I walk into this store vs. feeling annoyed when I walk into a big box store.

This is my favorite hardware store! They have literally everything you could ever need and they can answer all of your random questions. The store itself is incredibly adorable with its old school feel; it even smells the part :)
