GRADY FROST

I have worked down the street for 5 years and have never once been able to checkout of this store in under 20 minutes. It is ALWAYS a frustrating experience. The recent expansion offers some great healthy options but it is well known amongst the staff I work with (+15) that its not worth it. The lines are long, cashiers creep along with zero interest in getting people out quickly so they have time to eat. Today, I stopped in and when a customer realized she forgot her money was expected to wait while she ran out to her car to get it? I asked the cashier if they could cancel out the sale. Nope. Freeze it. Nope. Just wait she will be back in a few minutes. Ugh! Went to second line with light on, register is broken. She sends me to long line, zero interest in opening another register to resolve long line. So frustrating and attitude is that we should be willing to wait. I dont have to wait I can just go to Whole Foods which I will for now on. Shaws, putting a beautiful store here without experienced staff was a huge mistake!

I appreciate the variety in fresh produce and other staples that Shaws provides, but given its scale, Id hope it would be able to compete better with other grocers on price. Pretty much most, if not all, the things I want to buy from Shaws are cheaper at Trader Joes. I was also disappointed to find a lot of the jar sauces were leaking. I bought a non-leaky one, but discovered the lid was already "popped" once I got home. Bright side is that the help desk was more than happy to let me exchange it stress and trouble free. Kudos there.

The liquor store is convenient, although closes relatively early for the location its in. The service at the grocery store itself though... Employees rarely know whats going on, theyve had to call the manager down to ring up my $1.20 worth of oysters (the product codes were wrong and the guy was clueless about what to do), things are frequently unlabeled, or not "in the system" Kind of a management nightmare.
