My beloved Wegmans... Before you were around Star Market was the only other place that catered to my night owl shopping habits! Im fortunate that I live so close by. The first experience was overwhelming and like many other people I entered through the liquor store, which is quite impressive on its own. I browsed all the aisles trying to figure out what all the hype was about. I wasnt sold yet, but a few trips later Im in love! FYI the cakes are amazing! I got the marbled one for my SOs birthday and everyone including me wanted seconds immediately. What sets this place apart from all other grocery stores Ive been to is the entire shopping experience. This place inspires me to try new brands and foods. I always find great deals with their wonderful family packs and weekly/monthly coupons. Somehow they are able to satisfy my desire for bulk shopping and specialty food items. Plus its always a bonus when theres a liquor store with discounted prices too! I can get all of my shopping done in one place. Oh, and as a proud bargain hunter, Ive also scored some amazing deals on the clearance/discontinued items that were 75% marked down! One annoyance I had was that Wegmans would pre-charge you for bottles and cans deposits so it actually turned me into a hardcore recycler so we dont lose $ on our beverage purchases. Now they no longer give out plastic bags (good riddance) and only bag with paper bags I think thats the city wide policy. These are just a minor drawback to all of the joy this business given me.

Sorry Wegmans, you may be #1 in the Northeast, but having grown up in Florida, Publix still reigns supreme in my book. These pictures summarize my growing frustration and disappointment with Wegmans. This is not an uncommon site at the Wegmans location - shelves empty throughout the store, departments (e.g., seafood) closed early, not enough staff, etc. I really dont get it. Publix the day before Thanksgiving wouldnt look like this, despite the droves of people. A grocery store, like a restaurant, should not start closing down and cleaning up before the posted hours. For example, if the seafood department is open until 10 pm on Sunday, then 10 pm is the appropriate time to start breaking down the displays and cleaning up. The same goes for the rest of the departments and the store in general. No one likes to be eating dinner at a restaurant while chairs are being stacked around them. On a number of occasions, there have been skeleton crews several hours before the posted closing time. The shelves and the service should remain the same no matter what day or time I decide to do my shopping. And for the coup de gace, the produce, which is one of the reasons for choosing Wegmans over the local competition, is starting to slack. For a company that touts "Every Day You Get our Best", this seems anything but...

I lived in the Rochester area until 1997. It was great. Everything high quality with good service. Therefore, I welcomed the arrival of Wegmans to Chestnut Hill, MA. Disappointing. Positives:The fish is good. The other meat is pretty good. Donuts and pastry are good. There are lots of employees who are helpful. Clean. Lines are not long. I like the presence of the liquor store. It is convenient and prices are good. Negatives: The prepared food is TERRIBLE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I tried the Chinese tonight. Tough and completely tasteless. I cant believe they would put that out with a straight face. Same with other prepared food I have tried there. Im not going to buy anything prepared anymore. Everything else - fruits, vegetables, produce is fine but nothing to distinguish from other stores like Shaws. Selection of some items is a bit spotty. Peanut butter - very small selection. Mostly Wegmans. I guess if I hadnt experienced it in Rochester years ago, I would rate it higher.

3.5 stars Im conflicted about this Wegmans. Prices are okay compared to Star Market just down the road. Customer service tends to be a lot better here than most other markets though. Their store brand items are quite good (soy milk, ice cream, tortilla chips, yogurt, etc). Produce seems to be pricier here, even the non-organic variety. The biggest issue is that the layout is kind of strange, which often results in "traffic jams" ... particularly in the back where the produce and dairy section meet. Their hot bar has some good food, and their $5 rotisserie chickens are a steal. They also have some really great stuff in their bakeries. I would avoid the iced coffee - extremely bitter. The best thing about Wegmans, though, is their liquor/beer store upstairs. Great selection of beers and wines, and decent prices overall.

First, I should say I grew up in Rochester, so I grew up with Wegmans. BUT I have been out on the west coast for 10 years and so I havent seen all the growth and it is by far now my Go to Grocery store. They have an AMAZING assortment of produce and fruit with a nice variety of organic and non organic. A good bulk section and a well stocked international foods section. I was surprised to find my Korean sauces there! Now I wont have to make the trip all the way to HMart! The bread and meat and fish sections are also extensive and really wonderful quality. And so far-- the prices are better than Whole Foods for the same quality. Its a wider selection than even Roche Bros which everyone said would be cheaper and just as good as Whole Foods. So Im thrilled to have Wegmans close by!!

I would like to clarify why my experience with Wegmans was negative. I found selection of various products quite remarkable, but my experience with cashiers (both times) was beyond bad. I have an impression that Wegmans hire some illiterate inexperienced school dropout to deal with transactions. The cashiers both times didnt know anything about products. Every step with new item was painful, the woman had to call loudly another associate to ask what to do. Coupon which I submitted wasnt processed because she told she doesnt know how to do it, after that I gave up and just left. Service is beyond sub-par.

5 star grocery store, I understand why people rave about this place. It is not only their prepared foods that shine but their pre-prepared foods. Like the almond crusted salmon they sell. I can pop that bad boy in the oven and Ill look like a regular Gordon Ramsey when it comes out. Its like Whole Foods quality at Stop & Shop prices. This place is a good 30 minutes away from my house but will make a monthly excursion here to restock on all their tasty items. Be warned, they have loads of free samples!

I read all the rave reviews and was like oh, I have to see this place! but Im not really impressed. The food bar and bakery was nice, but the prices are pretty obscene, like every where else. The service wasnt as friendly as the claims were either, average. Produce was decent, plenty of selection there, and well stocked. Parking is plentiful. But blah, just not worth the drive for me. The latte and smoothie we had were pretty delicious though. I miss market basket, is all I can say.

A great little Wegmans in the heart of Chestnut Hill. Accessible only through route 9 on the eastbound side, stay on the right lane that forms after the traffic light. Its important to note that this Wegmans is BEHIND the shopping complex. It is accessible via both sides of the complex, but the one through the parking garage is a bit more complicated. Because it is smaller, the selection isnt as big, but the liquor store above the grocery store has a pretty good selection.
