From the quality of their inventory, their staff, and fair pricing, Midway has the look and feel of buying a new car from the big boys with less of the "shark-like" mentality that you can experience when looking to purchase a car at a dealer. Ralph Larkin did a great job of keeping it respectful during the negotiation part of the buy ... and taking care of the balance between getting us a good price and protecting Midways interest in being in the used car business. Additionally, Mr. Larkin folded you into his life, why he does this job, and getting to know you in an effort to build not only trust .. but you also might feel like you found a friend in the business you can dial up when you want a good car for yourself ... or a family member needing to spend some of their hard earned cash. However, I have one regret .. and that is not being aware of the $385.00 docking fee and unaware that was still going to be something we needed to contend with after we reached what I thought was the final deal. Meaning, normally, that would have been cause right there to walk .. and almost did. ... Fortunately, we reached a resolution on that I could live with .. and this is a typical charge when buying a car ... just feel like that should be clearly on the table when negotiating cars in this price range. Apologies were given of course that "the dance" still wasnt over, .. but remains the only thing during the transaction that is unfortunate because I feel like that if it were some kind of used car dealership shenanigans (which I am going to convince myself that it isnt) would only set Midway back from getting perfect scores on reviews and repeat business. It certainly will have this affect on me. I am married with five children .. plenty of car buying in my future. And while I will probably ring Ralph up again when we need that next vehicle, ... I will probably look elsewhere beforehand too as we both have family to protect. As for the car itself. Its not perfect. Its used of course. It has a couple dings on the outside .. very small ... almost cause for me call myself being picky. .. But interior is immaculate ,,, it runs like and smells like new. It was the perfect car for my son now home from the Air Force and will be commuting to a local base now with a pretty cool car that he can be proud he paid for with his service to our country. Compared to the competition and price range in the market that weekend .. this car was a cut above and hoping will be something that if he takes care of it .. will hold some value. .. Additionally, Ralph shared some significant service documentation Midway put into the car, had new tires and brakes on it, and we had plenty of time to review the carfax he printed and handed to us on the vehicle before we even started talking about price. Lastly, we had a small hiccup with paperwork that we caught on Monday as we went register the vehicle. I quickly texted Ralph and Dave in Finance and they had that paperwork in Next Day Air within a couple hours. There was zero confusion or fumbling about what happened .. they just quickly understood and took care of it. So, while I said its like buying a new car at some fancy local new dealer .. when it comes to having to deal with people in selling cars .. that alone made me feel like I found a business and group of people that respects their customers even after they walk out the door and left their cash behind. So, if you see something on their site you are interested in, I would urge you to ring up Ralph at Midway and put it on your shortlist of peopleplaces to check out before you close a deal somewhere else.

I checked out their inventory on their website and found a RAV4 that I thought I might like. When I headed down to check it out, a salesman greeted me right at the door. He was an older gentleman that seemed pleasant, but when I told him what I had been looking for it took him a long time to locate it on the lot. During my inspection of the car, I noticed that the battery looked corroded. When I mentioned this, the salesman brushed it off as "normal"; however, when we tried to start the car the battery was completely dead and needed to be jumped. The car drove fine, but when it came down to giving me a price offer, the salesmen kept dancing around the question. Finally, when he brought me into their office to give me a price--it took him roughly a half an hour to type my information into his computer. Meanwhile, he was chatting to me about how he flunked out of college for partying too much, and how poorly he typed. (I really didnt care about hearing his life story.) I noticed on the car fax that the vehicle had been in a rear-end accident, and had been recalled twice (with no sign of having been fixed for these issues), so when the salesman gave me a price of 12k for a 2008 with all of these problems, I asked for a lower price. First he asked if I had, "read the book on buying cars" then he asked, "well what would you offer me?", I offered my price and he laughed in my face. It was really rude. He then insisted that I would never find a car for the price I offered that was newer than 2003 and not "a klunker". When I insisted that the price was fair, and easy enough to come by--he said, "well, Ive been selling cars for over 32 years, so I know better than someone your age would know." I was furious. In one sentence he had called me ignorant and inexperienced. I left immediately afterwards with him shouting after me that I would never find a car for that price. Ten minutes later, I found a car with less mileage, no accident history, and for $500 less than what I had offered the salesman. These people believe that you are stupid and treat customers with no respect.

Past credit issues prevented me from really exploring, pursuing and buying the automobile that I wanted. But then when it comes to buying a car while under the shadow of past credit issues, the world seems mighty small. For me it was forever going to dealerships and getting steered to the 8-10 year old car with 100,000 miles, or better! On top of that, most salesman make you feel like, " hey...I went the distance to get you approved for this beautiful car!" Oh please !! I certainly didnt want to be the guy who once again, got the "push off" car! I looked around, talked to people and more importantly, did my research. Midway Auto not only has an awesome selection of cars, they also have awesome sales associates! I found that out, firsthand! Now granted I still couldnt get the new Vette Ive always wanted, but soon enough by staying the course and keeping current on payments, yes soon enough I will have my Vette. But the great thing is that as I await that day, I still purchased a super Cadillac that surprised me with its performance and best of all, its price tag. Thanks so much Midway, thank you indeed !!
