Went to the shop at 4pm on a Thursday to ask about archery since that is half of the stores focus. After waiting for someone to help me for about 5 minutes, I was told briskly that there is nobody on the archery side Thursday afternoons, and was offered no further help. That wouldnt have bothered me so much if they had it stated on their website or at least on the posted hours on the front door. I was the only customer in the store and the employee that told me there was nobody to help did not offer to see what I came in the store for or if there was anything she could do. I emailed the archery employee when I got home to see if what I came in the store for could be taken care of and it has been a week without reply. On top of everything, the accessories/supplies are identical to what is carried in your average Wal-Mart, only twice the price. Im sure it would be a fine place to buy a bow, but Im scared to know what they charge even if you could get someone to help you order anything. I will keep going to Bass Pro Shops where I know they have what I need.

I have been going to the gun shack for a while, unfortunately Ill never go back. The young lady with black hair is one of the rudest people Ive ever met. I asked her a simple question and she went off like I was wasting her time, (Gee, its not like you work at a gun store and the person your talking to wants to buy something). For real, I was going to buy a few things for my black powder guns but after talking to her I put them back and walked out. I used to love going to the gun shack, unfortunately that one experience totally ruined the gun shack for me, I will never go back! p.s. gun shack: Maryland has terrible gun laws and few pro gun citizens, it might help being friendly to the few supporters you have left.

Quality of the merchandise is good, the staff was very knowledgeable, and pricing not too much higher for ammo than what I pay online. However they dont return email requests, the phone is usually off the hook (VM box is full & the msg plainly states they dont check it anyways), and they wont check the status of your background check - they assume if you didnt get a call from them "it aint ready yet". UPDATED: 66 days (one day after I wrote this originally). I finally got the call my rifle was ready to be picked up. In fairness this Maryland State fiasco is NOT Gunshack Crosswinds fault & today everyone asked me if they could help me with something while the man was in the back getting me processed out.

I dont see what all the negative press is about. The staff here have never been anything but accommodating and helpful for me and everyone Ive ever gone there with. The prices are what youd expect from a small LGS. Not as cheap as the big box stores, but not price-gouging like the few shops across the line in MoCo either. Plenty of stuff there for the sportsman as well. A good source of black powder equipment, and one of the few places I know where I can reliably get pistol powder for reloading when you cant find it online. Their archery section and staff are wonderful as well. Always glad to help a neophyte learn the ropes.

I visited the Shack a few months ago and when I entered the store the owner gave me a tour. He actually walked me around the store and showed me all the different sections in the store. He stayed with me answering every question. I never experienced this before. Certainly nothing like the gun store in Silver Spring. These people acted as if I was over for a visit at their home for the first time. Real good people. I cant wait to go back when I buy my daughter and my archery set. Of which I know nothing about archery but I am sure that they are the right people to go see at my level of knowledge on the subject.

Phone is always off the hook, so dont even try and call. Little did I know this would be an indication of their customer service in the store. Stood patiently for 15 minutes near the firearm area making eye contact with each worker there. Not a smile, not a "Can you please wait?" or acknowledgment of my mere existence in the store. I began to think twice about handing over the $800 in my pocket so off I went to the other store I had spoke to. I tried to patronize a local business but guess I learned why they are still in that dingy run down store. Avoid and dont waste your time here.

I have known Steve and his family for 40 + years, they are one of the best gun and bow shops on the east coast, if you want honesty and integrity and knowledge Gun Shack is the place to go! The staff is polite, knowledgeable and willing to take the time to work with you. If you want to be stroked and be a number where most of the salesmen have no idea what you need then go Bass- pro. I believe in supporting family businesses like Gun Shake that have the customers best interest in mind and that is where my loyalty will stay.

Ive had nothing but great experiences here. If you go in and mind your manners and have a little patience while the staff of usually 2 or 3 helps people there first then theyll be nice to you. Its a small country hunting store not bass pro. Prices are a little higher but Ill give my money to the mom and pop stores then the big box stores any day. Theyre 5 minutes from my house so I may pay a little more for the item but if I drove the 40 minutes to bass pro or dicks itd even out.

Awesome! Tim from the archery shop is wonderful. Hes friendly, knowledgeable, passionate, and skilled. He replaced a worn out cam on my bow, serviced my steering and fine tuned my center shot positioning. Ive never felt more comfortable letting someone work on my gear. I will be returning for a long time to come and I highly recommend them for archery great and service. The cost of the service was amazingly fair, I ALMOST wanted to pay more. Highly recommended!

I purchase my first rifle from here a while back and continue to purchase guns from them. Their accessories are priced a bit high which is the only reason I didnt give them five stars. I have brought other people to the store as well and they have also purchased from them. The overall relaxed feeling and willingness of the staff to answer all questions and help you make an informed decision will keep me going back.

Been dealing with them for about 15 yrs. Good honest people that will always do their best for the customer. You wont find a nicer bow tech than Tim. If you dont like a good independent retailer that has knowledge and cares about the customer then go to Bass Pro and their under paid unknowledgable staff where you are just another face.

EXTREMELY knowledgable. Very helpful people and they have a very good selection of shotguns and rifles. about 20-30 handguns, and a nice variety from old colts to new glock 19s. This place is the place to go if your looking for literally anything. You will learn and find what you need when you come here. The perfect gun store.
