Absolutely a good place to buy older games. They certainly know their stuff so dont expect to get a rare game for cheap. The selection was sort of small but its constantly changing; In fact, while I was there someone traded in an old console and about 8 games for a rare older game and another person sold a shoe box full of old games for cash and they made a couple sales out-going sales at the same time. They do not have ANY games made roughly in the last decade so dont expect to pick up the new releases. They have a few consoles for sale as well as several consoles on hand in their showroom to try games out before purchase if you have any worries about them working. I give it my full recommendation for fans of older games from years gone by even if the game selection was on the small side (but the store has only been open a couple months). The young man behind the counter was great and extremely friendly and helpful, the showroom was spotless, the cheap games were displayed nicely in drawers. The more pricey games were in their glass case and along the walls. To improve I would recommend that they try and get some better hours of operation and find some sort of way to display the prices on the games so you dont have to ask (but we all hate price stickers all over our games too). EDIT: GREAT NEWS!! Theyve added small price stickers to their games (in places where they can be easily removed, never on a label). Theyve also expanded their hours to a level thats acceptable. Since the time I originally wrote this review, theyve gotten rid of the drawers, changed how games are displayed and added sooo much merchandise that youll have trouble trying to figure out what color the wall is painted!

DONT COME HERE TO SELL PS2 GAMES! I walk into the store with nearly 60 games im looking to get off of my hands for a little extra money, 2 of the games were rare enough ($35 for Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, $15 DBZ Budokai 3) and they were offering me about $50 for both of them, fair enough as that about the going rate for those. But the other stack of about 45 PS2 games and like 6 Xbox 360 games he offered me like $20....Are you kidding me? On their website it says they buy and sell games at a fair price, and some of the games I was selling to them would easily go for about $10 on eBay. Now look, I understand businesses need to make a profit, and I get that most games arent worth that much, but that many games for only $20 is about $0.40 a game... not worth it when I can go sell the whole bundle for $100 or more on eBay. The part that really makes me angry is they say they buy them for a fair price, other PS2 games that they had on the shelf, some were the same I was giving them, went for like $10. Bottom line is, its much more worth your money to sell the games online, and Play Raven, dont say you pay good money for games when you dont... $70 for nearly 60 games is ridiculous. Im very disappointed with Play Raven, and will not be coming back to sell or trade in games.

This store is the antithesis of all major gaming only stores today (which is a very good thing!). The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and NEVER pushes you to purchase something. They have great deals and are willing to work situations out when there is a problem, or want to make a trade. The guys here have no problem chatting about any game or system. You arent just another sale. Their prices are competitive with the going rate on eBay - but Play Raven has an advantage: you can see and hold the game prior to buying it. For disc based games, you can be sure they are not scratched, cart games have their labels, and just be sure you are purchasing a good product. The stock is always expanding - but keep an eye on their posts, rare games come and go (often in the same day)! So be sure to snag that game you have been wanting! I have spent a good deal of time and money here, and have felt it was worth every minute and penny. I continue to go to Play Raven for games, hopefully you will too.

Ask me what I did last night. If you guessed "was a functioning member of society" - you guessed wrong because the boys at Play Raven in Frederick MD hooked me up and hooked me up gooood. Its amazing how this small store can rock such a great selection, but somehow through the magic that is - they do. Me: "Do you have [obscure 30-year-old game]?" Play Raven: "Yup!" Mel "Do you have [cutest game ever made]?" (animal crossing for inquisitive minds) Play Raven: "Right over here." Me: "Is there anything you dont have?" Play Raven: "Price gouging - we dont have price gouging." Well - basically thats how the conversation went. Got everything I came there for + more at a price that I think was highway robbery - I even offered to pay more, but they wouldnt hear none of it. Bless their souls - and bless my productivity which has tanked - unless you consider paying off Tom Nook as productivity - in which case, Im killin it at the office.

Visited this store for the first time recently They have a really good variety of old school games and accessories available, and the associate was really friendly and knowledgeable. He looked up the Gamecube memory cards available to make sure it had enough memory for what I needed. The prices were very reasonable in my opinion; I picked up a genuine Nintentdo Gamecube controller for only $15, and I couldnt find one of those for less than $20 on Amazon (and thats before shipping!). No annoying upselling for pre-orders and other crap like you have to endure Gamestop. I will absolutely be going back there to do business, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I expect to do most, if not all of my future brick-and-mortar business at this store.

I will not buy video games anywhere else. Play Raven is about the gamer. They offer cash or store credit. Last night I went in traded in a bunch of stuff like an Old Ps2 with 3 controllers old games. Old Ps3 games. After everything was said and done I got my ps4 for 40 bucks. I had money left over to get a couple game for my new console So I went to look at their used PS4 games rack and picked out 3 games for about 10 bucks each. Matt( who is always a pleasure to deal with) just gave them to me and would not take my money because, " I come in a lot". I wonder why? They have fantastic communication on social media channels and they always answer my questions with in a timely fashion. I love this place and I tell all my friends about it.

Play Raven eliminates everything people hate about GameStop. If youre selling, you wont be disappointed with Play Ravens offer, and if youre buying, be prepared to walk out of there with a lot more than you expected. The selection is huge and the prices are right. Play Raven sells games for nearly every console going all the way back to the Atari 2600. You read that right. Not only do they have Atari 2600 games, but youll occasionally find a working 2600 console. All their games are sorted by system, but beyond that you may have to dig a little. They also have a Wii console and a couple vintage arcade games set up to play while youre there.
