I went in here on two separate occasions to see if they could resurface an old PS1 game I had. Both times there was literally no one at the store who was an employee, just people sitting around playing video games. I assumed the employee was just taking a lunch break or something, and since it is a video game lounge the store didnt "close" per se for this break. So, I decided to just come back the next day since my problem wasnt urgent. When I came back, there still wasnt an employee who acknowledged me. I asked a random guy who was just sitting at a nearby table eating Chinese food where the employee was AND HE TOLD ME HE WAS THE OWNER. I had been wandering around the store aimlessly for ten minutes at this point right next to this dude, four minutes of which I was just standing at the cash register, and he was sitting right there the whole time and didnt say anything to me! In terms of the product, the selection is amazing. Any game that you remember from your childhood and wish you had now is probably in this store somewhere, but good luck because you will probably need to search the store yourself to find what you are looking for. A lot of people writing reviews also say that the prices are reasonable or even low, but I would warn a customer who is only looking at Sage Mantis prices that the cost of shopping at this store is very high. Most of the games are priced at the extreme high end of market value for the games, and sometimes just blatantly above the extreme end of market value for that game. I get that the guy needs to make a buck, but maybe he wouldnt need these high prices if he sold things to every willing customer who came through the store. I see a lot of good reviews on here, so I am certain that the owner is a nice person, but damn if he cant be bothered to put his food down to help a new customer out.

I have attended the store for Smash tournaments in the past, and I have a few major complaints with the way the store handles their organization. I think that 10 dollars is too high of an entry fee for a weekly tournament, especially when the store refuses to offer a discount to entrants who bring their own CRT TVs and GameCubes to the event. Additionally, I strongly disagree with the stores decision to not issue refunds for events with low attendance. If there arent the minimum of 8 players for an event and the store decides to cancel, then it should issue a refund to all of the players instead of keeping the already overpriced venue fee. The tournaments I attended had poor attendance and were very cramped for space. I cant see a reason to go back until these things change.

Horrible service- from the owner no less. Im a local graphic designer trying to network and provide FREE service to local gaming shops. Didnt even get that far with him. I called the store, asked to speak to the owner, got 2 words into my shpeel and says "I got someone here" and hangs up on me. Called back an hour later when he was less busy, apparently, and just politely asked for the stores email since theyre "too busy to hear me out" and not to keep them on the phone. All I said was "I was wondering if I could get the stores email?" "What for?" "Im just providing a promo design service to local businesses Im into." "You cant just keep calling my store and ask for my e-mail. Get straight, bro." *click* To reiterate, this is the stores owner.

Now, before I get to why I gave this place two stars I must say that this place has an amazing selection of game...however, these games are incredibly overpriced. Im always amazed by how overpriced these games are. Some games are even $100 more expensive than a high online price!! I once tried talking to the person who worked here about price checking and the person sai "no" and that they charge a " convenience fee" since youre not waiting for shipping... That "convenience fee" is totally inconvenient. The worker constantly makes sure all his prices are up to date and I GUARANTEE youll not get a deal at this place. Theyre strict about their prices. Dont let their "low prices" fool you because these are far from low.

This place is a disgusting cesspool; its gross, unclean and has extremely poor lighting. The owner is often times abrasive and rude and his prices are unreasonably high for the sake of being high because all other business revolving around retro games have gone out of business because of Game Haven. Its crowded and the clientele is uncomfortable to even be around and they only add to the lack of cleanliness by piling up garbage and fast food debris thrown all over the store. Ill willingly drive elsewhere to find literally ANY other retro game shop before I ever return to Game Haven.

This place has potential, but unless you want to pay WAY TO MUCH, Id go some place else. This place has a real good selection, which is disappointing becuase the game prices are 2-3x what they should be. For an NES game that would cost you maybe $1 anywhere else, be prepared to buy the same game for $5-$7. WWF No Mercy for example was $20. You can get it on Amazon and get it the next day for $11. I think I saw Mike Tyson punchout here for $25 over what you can buy it elsewhere. No customer service or anything. This place is just bad.

I stopped at this little hole in the wall looking for an extremely rare game, that some people wanted over a hundred dollars for on ebay. Not only did he have the game, but the price was reasonable as well. They sell consoles, games, controllers, fix TVs. This place is nothing short of amazing. I used to shop at game stop all the time, but in all honesty, the way Sage runs his shop is how Video game stores SHOULD be. Anyone who loves video games needs to stop here.

There wasnt any real service. Two friends and I entered, everyone was playing a game. We browsed and returned near the front, yet no word from an employee or patron. They seemed to be arguing about some lady in a bar that told one of them to "go to hell you fat slob" and he threw her boyfriend over a fence. No idea really. 1 star for the arguing they were doing, didnt try and get our business, brushing us off. Theyd get 5 for the laugh we had afterwards though

Sage Mantis Game Haven is a spot on name! This place is filled with nice, "nerdy" people who love Video Games/Card Games/etc. You can go there to do business like fixing your console or PC or trading and selling cards and games. You can even go there just to hang out. It is one of the best places of its kind. My only regret is that I cant go every day. Also, the cat is adorable and precious and beautiful and I just want to pet him all day long.

The selection is amazing! Anything old you can and cant think of including a VirtualBoy new in box. Everybody was great at answering questions and finding things I couldnt. I had a problem with the controller on the NES I bought and they took care of it same day. I will definitely go back to expand my NES and Nintendo64 game collections and may expand into Sega here soon too!
