This review is for the groomer attached to the Hickory Vet Clinic/Kennel. I had taken my dog to this place a few months ago for grooming and had a wonderful experience. Two days ago we scheduled her again and dropped her off for grooming, we told them we wanted the same service as last time. When we showed up to pick our dog up, they told me it was $95.00, I asked how was it so expensive, I paid around $55.00 last time. They went back to get the groomer. She was all sweet saying "I heard you had a question about the price." I advised her it was much cheaper last time, she said there was no way, that 95.00 was the going rate. I asked her to look up what I paid last time. After asking numerous times she said $55.00. She immediately got very nasty, told the girl at the front desk to just charge 55.00. I told her I have be using petsmart for two years and it was only $45.00 and if she is going to charge 95 then Ill have to go somewhere else. She said unless I was going to pay $95.00 I dont want you to come back! Done!!! I asked the girl at the front seat why the drastic change in price. She said the other woman left and this is the new contract groomer and she sets her own prices. And to make things worse, she did a horrible job. Ill try to post a pic to show the numerous scissor marks and lines she left based on her inexperience in what shes doing.

Extremely dissatisfied with the care of my dog! I took my dogs in for their routine shots, and came out with them telling me that my beagle had Lyme disease after blood work and an x-ray. We treated our dog for Lyme disease to be called back a few days later saying that our dogs number was 10, which was not significant. They had me reschedule another office visit to finally get his shots and again I walked out with them telling me that now my dog either has a urinary tract infection or a kidney infection they werent realy sure what was wrong with him though. We left with another set of antiibiotics for a urinary tract infection. After giving him the second set of antibiotics he appeared to be getting better after a few days and then his health took a horrible turn. Today, my 13 year old son comforted our dog all day as he was not eating, drinking and then stumbled when he tried to walk. He was so bad that I took him to another pet clinic in Bel Air who told me that my dog had cancer in his spleen - which was seen in his x-ray and through their blood work that found that he was bleeding internally. Both of which were missed by Hickory. Our family pet suffered for two weeks with their missed diagnosis and apparent just wanting more money! I WILL NEVER take my other two dogs back to Hickory again and warn anyone else not to use them.

Our family has had the worst experience with this vet and kennel and I know we are not the only ones. This place is the biggest scam on the east coast. We have picked up our dog from the kennel, injured, 3 different times; three strikes your out. Each time them suggesting we should get our dog looked at by their vet hospital. The first two times we didnt think much of it and payed to get her looked at and get the problem resolved. The third time: she was returned to us with an eye issue. Once again we had her looked at by their vet. They said her eye had been scratched and she would need over an $800 eye surgery. Complete bogus we eventually found out. I took her to another vet where she was diagnosed with conjunctivitis (pink eye) only a $200 issue. This place will find a way to injure your animal so they can make extra income through their veterinary hospital. The veterinary doctors are unprofessional as can be and will diagnose your animal with bogus symptoms. When this happens to you, take your animal somewhere else for a second opinion and you will see! Good luck, dont fall for it three times like we did. Also, a must know, our dog has always been well taken care of and has never had issues before this place.

I wouldnt really recommend this clinic above going to Greenbrier. I took my cat there because she ingested a small amount of bug spray. I was in too much of a rush to think, so I just took her to the closest vets office. The staff seemed...I wouldnt say unpleasant but more along the lines of they just didnt want to be there and they were going to show it. The vet herself was okay, nothing spectacular but the assistant didnt seem to even want to touch an animal (and not just my cat but another dog). I kept telling the vet that the spot on her tongue (which she thought was an ulcer growing) was just her normal markings but she went ahead and called the poison control center anyway (and added a nice $60 to our bill JUST to call that place). In general, I love Greenbrier much better than this place. The staff is so much more pleasant and they really do love animals and they go out of their way to work around your budget.

Seems like a nice place, too bad its so hard to reach on the phone to make an appointment. I called twice on a weekday afternoon and after negotiating the annoying phone menus was immediately placed on hold for several minutes. Its like calling the cable company. I wont be calling again.
