Kiyota Co is absolutely the store for the dedicated student of Japanese martial arts. All of the merchandise in the store (except for the magazines) is imported from Japan, and is of the best quality. Mr. Kiyota is very knowledgeable, but is somewhat hard to converse with, due to his thick Japanese accent. The store is very cluttered, being full to the brim with boxes and bails of interesting and intriguing things. He has Gi uniforms, Boken wooden swords, Geta sandles, real swords, and far too many other delightful equipment to see in one visit. The store is somewhat hard to find, being set below street level, but it is well worth the hunt. The store closes at five pm.

I have dealt with Kiyota Company for almost 30 years and I have always been impressed with their quality, selection, professionalism, and price. They may be a little old fashioned with their limited Internet presence, but they more than make up for their lack of Internet/Web sales with the products they sell, their knowledge, their prices, and their friendly attitude.
