On my first visit to Valley West Mall when I first came to the area, I was told " this is our little mall." Coming from a town with a mall being slowly abandoned, this mall was amazing, and much more than my definition of a "little mall." My only complaint is the food court seems a little strangely placed, and some of the restaurants are at a different part of the mall. There is a decent selection of stores, and this mall is much easier to access than Jordan Creek. Also the Christmas display is well superior to the one at Jordan Creek. This is the mall we brought our daughter to for her first Santa experience. They do not make you buy the pictures and they even let you take one of your own.

There are 4 main malls in the Des Moines area (Merle Hay, Valley West, SouthRidge, and Jordan Creek). This is my second favorite mall to go to, other than Jordan Creek. But its actually better when you dont want to go to a huge packed mall. There are good stores here, with mostly anything available youd want. There is not much in the way of food here though. My two favorite stores are Games N More and Jays CD & Hobby. Theres also a JC Penny and Younkers which are great department stores.

The Jordan Creek of the 1990s. Are malls still a thing? Anyway, they have stores and food and stuff. Slightly less depressing than Merle Hay Mall. Once, in high school, my friend took acid and waded thru the koi pond (Sadly now gone) and the mall cops were supra singly understanding. Gave him an Orange Julius (for the vitamin c, ya know) and let him sit in the secret mall jail til he stopped peaking and was able to ride it out. Also you can get those big pretzels there I think.

Not too large or too small; a good selection of anchor stores. Family friendly and play space for young children. Nice locally owned and chain eateries. Often features local student art and design displays in its common area, i.e., good community support. Beautiful Christmas decor and displays. Easily accessible from I-35 and 235. For our money and time, the best mall in the Des Moines area.

Decently populated with foot traffic. Plenty of parking plus extra tiered parking. Usually a lot of door busters going on. The staff is pretty nice and their holiday decorations are beautiful. They dont have a large food court but they do have a good selection of chain restaurants/popups. There are occasional events that happen here. Easy, wheelchair accessibility.

Much better than the malls in Cedar Rapids. Love the store selection, especially the board game store (we love strategy board games, especially German made games). What was unique about this mall was that the inside was entirely carpeted, which means voices do not echo in the main halls, giving it a much more peaceful atmosphere.

Chiyo Sumizome

I really liked this place, it has great stores and the people are very friendly. The only reason Im giving it a 3 is because I had a friend once who was picked on by a couple of their security guards, and the nerve of those jerks was unbelievable. She though she was going to get kicked out and had a panic attack.

Having gone to Dubai during the Dubai Sale Festival, it would be a waste not to make the most out of it. Ive gone to several malls in Dubai then, including the more famous Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Marina Mall, Al Ghurair Mall, but I only did my shopping at Deira City Centre. True they did not

This mall is one of the older ones in Des Moines and their food court doesnt have as much as they used to. However this mall is pretty chill and more affordable than most stores at Jordan Creek. The exception would be Von Maur but I love that store so if I need to visit von maur I come to Valley West.

I routinely go to Valley West mall to scope out other peoples dogs and shoot syringes of egg whites on people, my last visit I had some black guy tell me my iconic, "porch monkey 4 life" shirt was racist and rude. I will not be returning to such a bigot-infested close-minded establishment.

Wish there were ads/signs on outside walls of mall saying what stores are where... its huge and i love the variety of stores and entertainment you can find but sometimes i get lost in parking lot going around trying to remember which stores are where and where its most convenient to park

Very good mall having Von Mauer definitely got my girl friend interested into the mall has a lot and even good eating areas. Overall good average mall for town but it does compete with Jordan Creek Mall which has a lot more to offer but it does have things that they do not have.

I got stopped and harrased by security for riding my motorcycle from the entrance to a parking spot. I was told to turn my bike off and he wanted my name etc. Have heard of many others being treated verly poorly by their security.

The whole place seemed dirty and run down. Numerous stores needed a good sweep and mop of the floors. The amount of dust everywhere was shocking, I honestly felt like the zombie apocalypse had come and gone. I wont ever go back.

This mall has a good selection of department stores and family clothes shops. The food court and other eateries have diverse selections of moderate priced foods. It is 2 levels and a comfortable walk from one end to the other.

Chelsea Steeples

The security guards here are a nightmare. Any of them that are over the age of 40 will harass you for absolutely no reason. Egos need to be taken down a notch or two... You are not a cop, and Im sure for good reason.

Small at least compared to Jordan Creek. Prysm is an excellent place to either get a piercing, get jewelry, or both. This mall also offers a food court, Jays CD and hobby, a couple fancy restaurants, a shoe store...

Been here twice. First time was fine just not great. The second was a wonderful experience. Took the time to make sure my hair was cut exactly the way i wanted. Very friendly and outstanding service. I will be back.

Nice mall! Started at 34s bar and grill and they have great burgers! And Auntie Annes had my garlic pretzels! Sampled chocolates at Stams! And they have a Regis hair salon which I may eventually get me a perm!

Great if you want to go to the mall, but want to avoid the crowd in jordan creek. Wonderful stores and a decent selection at the food court, as well as a nice play area for the kids. Would recommend

I love Valley West Mall! It is always clean, the staff is friendly and there is a certain mood to the mall compared to the other malls in the area. We choose Valley West over all malls in the area!

Good options for mall shoppers. Not really my place to be but i gave it five stars because im not much of a mall shopper, it could use more guys options that arent games or sports. More outdoors

This is a very unattractive mall. The lighting is not very good and there are only a few stores worth going to. The energy of the people that work in this mall is low. I never enjoy going here.

Valley West is kind of a hidden gem when looking for stores like Yonkers and Von Maar. They have a great selection and often times have aa greater variety over duplicate stores in the area.
