This used to be a mall. It used to be a great small town mall that people from other cities would even visit and say "how quaint." Now people visit the mall and say " Wheres the nearest REAL mall?" The answer is 45 minutes in any direction. 80% of the Muscatine Malls store locations are completely empty. The longest standing stores are JcPenney and the Plaza 4 theaters (which are amongst the worst theaters in a 100 mile area). There has been a rumored plan for some time that the mall is going to be completely reconstructed and revamped but all we ever see are little tidbits here and there. I swear to you that walking the mall seems like its a storage facility for unwanted stores. Literally you look at the stores and it seems like they are sad hamsters waiting to die. The place smells funny, has inadequate lighting and rude employees. The best stores are Elder-Beerman (which has no mall entrance, you have to go outside to get in), JcPenney and the Woodland Gallery (a small art gallery). Good thing I only have to make one trip every 4 years...to get my license renewed.

This mall used to be fabulous. It has undergone a depression losing one anchor store after another. There is little, if any mall promotion of the mall itself or individual retailers (of which there are few) to sustain or encourage consumers to visit. It has changed ownership multiple times, suffered from maintenance issues and forced locals to shop other places. No more "Ill just run to the mall and get that." Younkers does a reasonable business but I wonder how the other stores facing the parking lot survive. The interior stores have not.

It had been a while since I visited Muscatine, and I have to say I am impressed! This mall has been around for quite sometime, and up until recently you could tell. It was run down and needed some tlc. But, now the mall is looking great! they have done a lot of renovating and have really caught up on their look. If you have not been in a while I suggest you check out what they have done with the place! I love the feel of both inside and outside facing shops... feels like you are in an open air market!

Muscatine Mall has been declining for at least 15 years and its really sad, because it used to be a beautiful mall. JC Penny is leaving and now that just leaves Younker as the only major retail store left in this crappy town. Muscatine is nothing but a town of factories and fast food joints.

Hardly any stores. Parking lot is in need of repair. There is a Farmers market in the parking lot on Tuesday, 2:30-5:30pm. Until the end of October.
