Im really not sure where the mediocre reviews for the spot are coming from. It brings to mind the line from the PM Dawn song where he must ask "please excuse me for the lack of love." Seriously peeps, this is another high quality addition to the area! After hearing that the prior establishment was not renewing their lease and then learning of the Hurts donut folks coming in, weve been totally stoked. They opened a few weeks ago to a huge line that has continued 4 most days since. Upon entering youre greeted by 24 hours of energetic donut selling. They have no less than 30 different kinds of donuts and these cake beasts are nothing short of amazing. An interesting concept that they employ here is charging less for a dozen that they choose. Its 12 bucks per dozen if they choose them for $15 if you do. These donuts are absolutely massive. We got a couple dozen and tried to sample most of everything that was available and there, in my opinion, was not a bad one. Interestingly, the maple bacon bar was not available with the Dozen, but must be purchased separately. A small price to pay for delicious bacon! Another fan favorite released donuts with chocolate and cereal on top. Few things are more pleasantly reminiscent of childhood than Lucky Charms marshmallows and a donut with said marshmallows delicately resting atop a light sea of chocolate glaze. Im anxious to return and hear about some of the flavors and why theyre named what they are. It just adds to the mystique of a place that is awesome enough to be able to pull off a pink donut called the Homer! Overall, this is another fantastic addition to the culinary experience that has become the Iowa City / Coralville corridor. It is certainly a little bit different than what youre used to, but absolutely in a good way! This is a place you love, your kids will love, your neighbors will love and any visitors to the area will love. Do you want a Hurts donut? Oh heck yes!

Rude customer service employee rolled their eyes and complained when they had to manually input a credit card number. The employee entered it incorrectly and in a very loud voice and in front of a full store commented that it had been declined. This was not the case since the employee had not entered the information into the POS correctly. Since the store does not answer their cell phone and phone I am unable to call and speak with a management member. I will no longer be doing my weekly donut runs at hurts Donuts. They clearly do not care about customer service and or sanitation at this location. You are not supposed to touch donuts with even with gloves after you have taken money you really need to change the gloves in between each service. I will be talking to the health department in regards to their inability to follow basic sanitation needs.

I was just in tonight with my girlfriend, we were frequent flyers of hurts it was our favorite desert destination after a long week, but sadly we will not be returning, the employee who "helped" us seemed to not care at all about our questions about the donuts we wanted and flat out ignored our repeated questions that she seemed annoyed with the fact we were asking, we asked what one donut was and she replied she didnt know and walk off to do something else, if you want to go somewhere where employees treat you with no respect and like they dont care about helping you this is the place to go

Today was our 4th visit, first time with a crowd. Great donuts, made the way donuts used to be made. BUT--- Today I was surprised to see a row of Donuts labeled as "Jesus" donuts. When I suggested they should have a "Mohammed" donut I was told the name was really pronounced like the Spanish name. DUH, it is still Jesus whether you pronounce it the English way, the Jewish way, the Greek way or the Latin way. This is certainly offensive to Christians. If they had a "Mohammed" donut people would be up in arms, and if a Muslim saw it--- well, it wouldnt be pretty.

Stopped by at 8 a.m. on a Friday. Two people in line in front of me. Woman in front of me was visibly agitated. Someone came in behind me and asked her what was going on. She said she got there at 7:30 and there were two people in front of her. (The one visible employee had disappeared at that point). I left, as did another guy who had arrived right after I did. Dont know why the woman was still waiting. I doubt the donuts could be THAT good.

If you want a delicious fresh glazed doughnut this is your stop- unless of course the are "out" of plain, glazed doughnuts, which is the case 50% of the time. Today I got a cinnamon roll ($5) and a chocolate long john ($2) both were stale. Super crusty stale. The only reason they get 2 stars is one for having organic Guatemalan coffee and the second star for (sometimes) having the best plain glazed doughnuts in town.

I was there on the first day of its opening and surprised that there werent more people there at 6am to get tasty donuts, but me oh my, how that place was jam packed all throughout the course of the following 3 days after opening. Even through their fryer having gone down, they were able to pick back up and start making more donuts. Their variety is magical and youre sure to find something youll like.

The donuts are unique. They are not the best donuts Ive ever tasted though. I have things that negatively impact my experience every time. Its always taken us in excess of 30 minutes from the time we walk in the door till the time we walk out with our donuts. And 2nd, the life span of freshness for the donuts. Eat them right then, they wont hold over night for breakfast the next day.

I wanted to like Hurts Donut more than I did. Fun to go in and see all their variety, and they have some really neat choices. Unfortunately, I thought the donuts themselves were just okay. Not bad by any means, but a little underwhelming. A little dry. Maybe we just went at the wrong time and Id say its still worth going once to check it out and see if you have better luck.

Went in to get some donuts and support their blue line donut fundraiser for the fallen officers in Des Moines and Urbandale. Line wasnt terrible and everything was fresh and delicious. I have a ton of respect for a business that does so much for the community at large and turns out consistently great product even when business is so booming its hard to keep up.

Good donuts but a little over the top No option to just get a nice chocolate glaze, it has to be an oversized chocolate dipped Oreo fudge delight with enough calories to last you 3 days. Definitely the "cool fad" right now which is fine & I enjoy them on occasion. Might as well be eating a candy bar. Really expense too. 6 donuts and 2 milks for $25?!!

The last 2 times my wife was at doughnut shop in Coralville, she had to wait in a long line to be served. There was only one gal actually working the counter while 5 or 6 others were talking and laughing in the kitchen. I suggest Hurts doughnut hire some real managers and employees that want to work if they want to be successfull.
