Ive had Sidecar Coffee since CF SC opened at end of 2013. Loved it, great coffee, nice place to try to meet ppl which is optimal-I live alone & dont have much going on. Having aspergers/autism makes life difficult especially in social realm. Nice to go to coffee shop, wake myself, try & meet ppl, & be friendly person. Never much of issue w coffee shop until last yr around Aug2016, unsure what happened different then that changed way staff, well mgr specifically in their treatment toward me. Ive been great customer since they opened-my notebook of debit payments, Oct2014-today I made 251 SC purchases totaling 913.20 -not sure Ill spend another cent at SC, not even for SC sold at grocery store. In Aug2016, mgr started having small little talks w me on few random occasions-would ask to speak w me at table in back hallway. Felt like the mgr treated me like child sitting me in corner to discuss issue he had or someone there had-a 33 yr old child, felt I was being scolded abt issue. Guess they had issue w me talking to ppl there in coffee shop bc they felt I was distracting ppl from getting work done. I try to be a friendly individual to ppl & I try to meet ppl who might be interested just through a small conversation. Other issue was abt me talking abt relationships, cant think anything inappropriate Ive said, maybe there a few things like asking someone if someone is single, Im 33 yrs old-ppl seem uninterested in having anything to do w me. Try to watch what I say, dont make crude/inappropriate remarks or sexual references, most times my talk w employees is abt life & I might say I had a mtg w psychologist or antidepressant pills dont seem to work on down days-wish I could get ahead in life, find decent job, & gf/wife someday. I have difficult time comprehending what exactly I said especially in recent wks thats construed offensive/inappropriate. SC employees I felt seem to enjoy having me around, Im unsure where Ive gone wrong. When mgr first set me aside, said he wanted to lay out ground rules-the 1st was abt talking to ppl Im not there w -Im unsure how theyd know if someone I talk to is someone I know or even a family. 2nd rule was talking inappropriately abt relationships. Feel Ive done decent on relationship talk, I dont see anything Ive talked abt often as being inappropriate. Last wk-I talked abt mtg I scheduled to have coffee w a beautiful woman at SC, no date but I something for me to look forward to hopefully/maybe. Maybe was an issue-not sure? A few mnths ago, was sitting at SC bar drinking coffee & college looking cpl was there as well so I started talking w them like what they study & abt college-they left, shortly after SC employee told me he knew abt rules mgr discussed w me, said I need to follow rules. Feel like they are bunch of a holes at SC treating me like 33 yr old child. They never really told me specifically what I said about relations thats deemed inappropriate/offensive & falls under rules. I guess having aspergers/autism the issues are difficult for me as I have hard time accepting life changes (new coffee shop selection) . Luckily Cottonwood Canyon (CC) coffee shop in downtown Waterloo recently opened new location in 400 block Washington St downtown CF. CC owner extremely nice, new CC only block away from my apt. W aspergers, this seems slimey to me by SC mgr, unsure they understand aspergers/autism issues-sometimes I say something, then realize that wasnt good-people look at me puzzled/confused-or I think something to say abt conv that occured few min ago-sometimes think something I should or shouldnt have said several hrs later, immediately think or feel like idiot like I shouldve said or shouldnt have said that-I suppose social interaction seems awkward at times. According to mgr Im banned from SC. Id love it if everyone banned SC-CC has been roasting coffee locally for decade or so, definitely doesnt disrespect customers by treating them like 33 yr old child-extremely nice at Cottonwood Canyon.

Let me just tell you all the reasons Sidecar Coffee is awesome. 1. The Music. You dont need to bring headphones because their music is just as hipster as you think you are. 2. The employees. While you may have come to Sidecar for a delicious cup of coffee (well get to that), youre also going to gain some wonderful fashion tips by admiring the incredibly fashionable staff. 3. Outlets galore! You will never struggle to find a free outlet in this electric coffee shop! 4. Coffee. The coffee beans come from the Garden of Eden (theyre delicious).

Best coffee/espresso in town, possibly in the state of Iowa, and even yet, in the midwest. They roast their own beans right in town. Artwork on the wall is SPOT ON (ahem), always friendly baristas. Kevin is the best/nicest/best looking. The owner, Andy, is also a top notch guy.
