Jaded Angel is the best! Ive been going there for about five years now to get several piercings and tattoos. My first tattoo was with Bob Parr, and excellent artist who took his time to understand the importance of the piece I was getting. He made sure to talk me through the process to ensure I would be getting everything I wanted out of the piece. My second tattoo was with Jeff McDaniels, another excellent artist, and good friend as well. We spent much more time on this one going over it many times before actually inking it. My piercings have been done by three different people over the years, Jeff, JDubbs, and Darien - all of which knew what they were doing. Before I leave ames I am getting one last tattoo with Bob. I have already spent weeks going back and forth figuring out all the details needed (Its going to be a sweet quote wrapping around my entire back!) Bob even came up with some great ideas of how to blend it with other pieces on my back, which I am definitely going to incorporate. I cant wait to finish it up! My suggestion for newcomers - Go in, act yourself, and be friendly. Take the time to really show that you appreciate the work the artists do, and realize that they are there to make sure you really get what you want. They wont bullshit you, they tell it straight up. If you want to waste your money and not make great connections, simply walk across the street

I had one of my nipples pierced by a woman at Jaded Angel in August of 2016. She didnt seem completely confident of her abilities during the piercing, but most of the reviews for Jaded Angel seemed to be positive and this was my first time getting a piercing so I didnt 100% know what to look for in a piercing shop. I just recently went to a neighboring tattoo and piercing shop in Ames, which was ten times more clean and professional, to have the piercing removed since I have never been completely happy with the piercing and its been more work than its worth. I was informed that the sneaking suspicions I had all along about the piercing were correct. The barbell that was put in was a completely wrong gauge and length for a nipple piercing, and the placement was completely wrong, which is why it has been having a hard time healing, and why I have not been 100% happy with how the last several months have gone. Also, the barbell that was used was externally threaded vs internally threaded, although I have a feeling that she wouldnt have known the difference. Basically the entire thing was a train wreck. Im sure getting your earlobes pierced here would be an easy enough thing since the place seemed sterile enough, but for anything even remotely complex, steer clear of Jaded Angel at all costs.

I had a tat done by Bob. He did an OK job. All he had to do was copy the picture of my family crest and he decided to add his artistic take. His alteration of the design didnt ruin it, but made it look very standard. If I cover Bods additions to my design before showing it off, folks are pretty impressed with the image. When the whole tat is shown, folks say, "Yeah, its OK" My son wanted the same crest but 1/2 the size. Figured Bob had done one and had the art so it should be easier. When I showed Bob my tat, he asked, "who did that?" and it was only 5 week after he did the work. Bob charged the same for my sons tat as mine. During my sons tattoo session, the artist in the next chair was working on a girl. The two tat artist talked to each other, and seldom their clients. The entire time they bitched about how much they were working and made fun of folks they had previously tattooed. I do not fit the profile of someone with tattoos, however I have several. I would not encourage anyone who knows what they want for a tattoo to go to Jade Angle. Nor should anyone expect to be treated with respect by Bob or the other tattooers in this shop if you dont fit their version of a stereotypical pierced/tattooed person.

I have been going to Jaded Angel in Ames, Iowa for the past six years. I refuse to go anywhere else for tattoos or piercings and I have recommended them to all of my friends. Over the past six years I have gotten seven tattoos and two piercings at Jaded Angel. The place is well kept, clean, and their artists are truly talented. Bob Parr has drawn up and tattooed all of my major tattoos and I have never been anything less than amazed. I come up with a general idea and he turns it into something totally unique and better than I had imagined. From free-handing a family tree to drawing up a pinup girl in a Star Wars mask, he can truly make any tattoo you can dream up into a reality. Everyone at the shop is friendly and professional and have made the hours that Ive sat in the tattoo chair enjoyable (or as enjoyable as getting tattooed can be). I would recommend Jaded Angel to anyone in the Ames/Des Moines area looking for a tattoo or piercing. I promise you will have a great experience and will end up with a tattoo you can be proud of!

Bob Parr at Jaded Angel has done both of my tattoos, and I am beyond satisfied with both. He goes out of his way to make sure he can give you the best possible tattoo, so that you can love the piece for years to come. My first tattoo I had a very specific picture in mind for my tattoo and Bob did an excellent job recreating it for me. Today, I received my second tattoo from him. This time a unique piece that I asked Bob to design himself. His design exceeded my expectations and he proved again why I will never go to anyone else to have tattoos done. I currently drive two hours from my home to his shop to get inked, and I know that in the future, no matter where I end up, I will be planning vacations around visiting Bob to get more ink! Absolutely fabulous artist and wonderful person as well. You cannot go wrong visiting Bob or his shop for your tattoo or piercing needs!

Terrible. never again. i went with my friend to get her bellybutton pierced and we had to wait 20 minutes for bob to realize we were there. i had to go back to the door and open and close it 20 times for the bell to ring before i expected him to come out from the back. i then proceeded to walk towards the back of the shop to find some sort of service. i heard voices, and so i went back to the door in the back, opened it, and saw bob with a female "friend". needless to say he must not have been anticipating any business besides his own to go on that night. he is just very impersonable and highly recommend people not to go here it is trashy, unclean, and messy. id nbever want toget pierced here.

Jaded Angel is by far the best Tattoo Parlor in Ames, IA. With the extra measures taken for assuring a good CLEAN tattoo that were taken I was surprised. Bob Parr is by far one of the most talented artists in town... I will never go to another shop for my ink. I am about 20hrs in on my sleeve and could not be happier. If you want to get permeant skin art this is the place to go. When someone is trusted with the awesomeness of your tattoos Jaded Angel steps up to the plate giving exceptional results I would recommend them to any of my friends. You cant be weak at heart and have virgin ears and visit any parlor in any state and feel at home Fay Harriman!
