My friend and I called Saturday morning after Thanksgiving to make appointments for our tattoos. We submitted the art as instructed by the front desk person. He said he would give it to his artist and have him work the drawing. My friend wanted some simple hand lines and we were told no problem on the phone. I told him I wanted specifically with a feminine touch. I was told also, no problem. When we arrived we filled out appropriate paperwork and proceeded to meet with the artist James. He told my friend strait up he doesnt do finger or hand art for reasons of fading and some other lame excuse he offered. Extremely disappointed my friend finally accepted his refusal to do the work. When I proceeded to speak to James about mine I was shown a trace drawing of the picture I sent in. I said I was hoping you would add a feminine touch to the picture I sent. He looked at me and gestured to his penis saying I have a penis. To me this meant he cant add a feminine touch because he is a man or the length of his artistic ability is equivalent to the length of his penis. Either way I was offended and disgusted at the conduct of the entire office. Why make an appointment with an artists that does not want to do the work? I would never recommend this place to anyone. Worst experience!!

Ive been to many shops over the past 14 years, in many cities all over the US and Europe. For the past year, Ive been going to Hugo and Mump for tattoos and since they opened Heroic Ink, I think its the best shop Ive ever been to. First and foremost, their work is excellent. These gentlemen have a unique style all of their own with exceptional attention to detail. I like their work so much that Ive had Heroic Ink add to much of my work, or cover up a lot of my older work with theirs. Additionally, this shop is far superior with personality. Hugo and Mump, along with their staff at Heroic Ink are friendly, professional and make their customers, regular and new, feel welcome at all times. If you want a shop to feel comfortable getting a tattoo in, whether its your first, or simply adding to your collection, I highly insist you go to Heroic Ink.

Heroic Ink was the best!! I am 37 years old and had been waiting since I was 19 to get a tattoo. I decided to trust EMILY at Heroic with this deed. I am so happy I did! Emily and Lindy took their time helping me put together the perfect tattoo and then Emilys artistic work was amazing! I was even a bit nervous and as soon as she started I relaxed and enjoyed talking to her. For an old lady like me that is a big deal ;) I also was very happy with how classy and clean the shop was. I am not a huge tattoo buff like some out there, but I cant think of anyone who wouldnt want a clean, professional tattoo shop. Thanks so much EMILY and of course the guys keeping me entertained about Brit movies : )

These guys strive for professional quality tattoos and thats the only thing Ive seen come out of their shop. Ive gotten a full sleeve from Mump thats over a year old and is still more vivid than nearly all fresh tattoos Ive seen. Im in the process of getting a leg sleeve as well, and its amazing how Mumps skills improve with each piece he does. I get comments all the time on how awesome my tattoos look, and all the credit goes to this shop. Awesome people who love what they do. Definitely the best tattoo artists in town, and some of the best in the midwest.

Heroic Ink is definitely the best! Everyone at the shop is personable and professional. I have been working with Mump for 3 years now and its been nothing but positive. He is a talented artist willing to lend his vision to help complete yours. Hell take into account your suggestions as well as take the time to address any concerns. The atmosphere at Heroic Ink is clean, comfortable and there is always interesting conversation. Everyone is down to earth and putting the customer at ease definitely comes first. No plans to get tattooed anywhere else.

Best place I have ever gone! After my previous artist quit tatting,I wait almost a year to find a place that did high quality work, and saw a friends work and he refered me. Dont pass it up, best work, best price, and awesome friendly staff that is more then willing to help you come up with a great idea, or even make your dream tattoo come to vivid life. Mump has done my right arm, throat and the rework on my left arm. Your only hurting your self by passing this place up for some other joint with less skill. Atleast I dont just quest!

Hands down the friendliest shop I have been into EVER! Such a great atmosphere makes the visits even more enjoyable. Great quality of work by great people. Ive always had a hard time describing exactly what I want but Mump always gets it exactly perfect. I couldnt picture myself going anywhere else and getting tattooed. Definitely worth my hour and a half drive there every time. Hugo and Mump are both amazingly talents artists and can draw up anything you are willing to imagine up. Beat place for body art in Ames, no contest.

Heroic Ink is excellent. I have work from both Hugo and Mump and hey do not disappoint. Every time I see the work these guys are doing I cant believe how good it is. These guys are great at what they do and will never let anybody else tattoo me again. The shop is awesome, clean, and professional. They are artist who take what they do seriously and always trying to stretch the limits with their creativity and work. They are taking tattooing to the next level. Definitely the best shop in Iowa if not the U.S.

If youre looking to get a tattoo, then look no further. Im absolutely blown away by the folks at Heroic Ink. Everyone Ive had contact with has been polite, friendly, and the perfect mix of fun and professional. Had a cover up done by James. Incredibly talented artist, his work is top notch. This is by far the happiest Ive been with the outcome of any of my tattoos. With a friendly atmosphere in an extremely clean shop I cant see why anyone would go anywhere else. All of my future work will be at Heroic.

I have always had great service and never been displeased with Heroic Ink, whether it is Mump or Hugo! They do a great job with the artwork and run an exemplary business that is clean, safe and professional! I have had a tattoo from Hugo and he did the original artwork for it as well and I have been thoroughly pleased to no end!!! If you are looking at or even just thinking of a tattoo, check these guys out and you wont be disappointed and they are some of the best artists Ive seen anywhere!!!

Emily is an amazing artist and did an excellent job on my tattoo. She was funny and approachable like the rest of the staff. They sketched it out and made sure it was exactly what I wanted. Emily was very good at keeping my mind off of the pain, and she was such a cool, fun to talk to person. The staff and artists of Heroic Ink far surpassed all of my expectations, and I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about getting a piercing or a tattoo! Wonderful people and gorgeous shop!
