I bought a pet rat on Saturday and was assisted by a very friendly employee. Only thing I did not like is the way she took the rat out of the cage by its tail. That causes fear from human touch. We brought the rat home and immediately noticed she was having trouble breathing and she was constantly sneezing. I know that sneezing can sometimes occur when they are switched from location, but it still did not explain her labored breathing. I called my vet and she said that it sounded like a respiratory infection and to bring her in first thing Monday and make sure we separate her from the rest of our rats. We decided that we would just return the rat rather than incur an new vet bill. Monday evening when we tried to return the sick rat, the cashier called the manager who gave us one repeated excuse after another. 1. It was sold as a feeder and not a pet. Not True 2. It may have a respiratory infection, (Duh!!) We know it came with one 3. We had her too long. ( We had her 48 hours) The store manager was very rude and turned us away with a sickly animal that we still have. We went to Petsmart and bought another rat as well. The employee was very helpful and explained that their rats dont come from mills like Petcos.He retrieved her from its cage correctly and there were only 2 in the cage versus the dozen at Petco. We also were given awesome literature on taking care of our new addition. Stay away from Petco if you are truly an animal lover because they arent. They new a new best practices policy and to be more selective of who they hire to take care of these pets before they go to their new homes.

Normally I would put the Highland, IN store at a 3 star. This is because it is often hard to find someone for help and I shop weekly for my lizards. Yesterday, 2/15/16, I bought 2 pre-bagged medium 30count crickets, because when I ask for them the tell me to take the pre-bagged ones instead of "fresh". I brought them home to bring to my classroom as I do weekly. I placed them in their container at 7:15 am and all of them where alive. By 2:00pm over half of them where dead. I called the store and the woman told me that they only last 10 hours, while past visits I was told multiple times they would be fine (and they have been). I was also told that it wasnt uncommon to be left from previous day. Despite that information the women didnt offer for me to bring them back in for replacement. I said to her "so I am just out of that money" she replied yes with almost a laugh behind it. I will take my buisness to Petsmart from now on. I will not shop here anymore for my lizards or my cats.

Went in for a full cut and shampoo for my mini goldendoodle 27 lbs they could only shampoo because I forgot my shot papers and it took me 20min to return with them...that was ok . When I went to pick him up they charged $43. They said he was a large breed. The job was ok but Ill never be back at that price

This is by far the worst pet store in the area. The bad odor upon entering Is disgusting. The store is very dark and dirty. The dog food I wanted had six dented cans on the self. This was my last trip there. Other local pet stores are much better.

A nice Petco with helpful staff. I had my dog in training here, and the trainer was good, but the classes were in the middle of a crowded store & it wasnt working out. It was no hassle to get a refund for my unused classes.

Not happy with the small dog crate i purchased with dog hair and brown stuff in it. I just figured if items are returned to the store the employees would inspect it before putting it back on the self to be resold
