I rarely write negative reviews for many reasons - since the root causes of many bad customer experiences are complicated, I prefer to give businesses the benefit of the doubt - and let others take the lead on reviews. Im making an exception in this situation just to warn potential customers that this place may have management and quality control issues from the top-down - so when it comes to painting / upgrading and investment as valuable as a house, be careful when shopping here. The staff created such a bad customer experience that I will never shop there again. I received minimal help with paint or color selection. We were the only employees in the store, yet the employee didnt bother to come out from behind the counter to assist. The remaining staff seemed equally indifferent as they ate their meals. The paint swatch display was poorly lit, incomplete - with mainly 2016 color inventory, and collateral with design selections. Perhaps the store mainly supports contractors - which may explain the poor merchandising, industrial atmosphere and generally dingy appearance. The sample paint quarts were in cans that are difficult to handle, and 2 out of 3 sample paint colors we selected didnt come close to matching the swatches. We still took the time to use the samples on our house - with the wrong colors - which took considerable time. When I returned to explain the issue, another store employee attempted to tell me samples "may not always match the swatches because of the sample semi gloss vs flat..." (what?) and "they do their best to get a match which is why I should buy the samples - so I can see what it *really* looks like". So, while the employee could have simply said something customer-centric like "how can we make it right", 2 employees instead debated with me the color matching, and had to see a sample of dried paint for themselves - which they took 10 minutes to create while ignoring me - and having a lively chat behind the mixing station. They returned to admit that, yes, the 2 samples could have used "more black" Again, I was the only customer in the store. I did get a refund ($9) for the refund (and hours of my time wasted). Bottom line - Go up the street to Sherwin Williams for a truly great experience, attentive/professional staff, super follow-up (email with coupons), quality product, and a beautiful, well designed store (with a place for kids to play). Updated review from 1 to 2 stars. I just got a call from the ops leader at corporate who followed-up with his apologies and a commitment to improve their service and address any issues. This review was also written for the same location under the PPG company brand.
