(TL; DR: If you need ink done, go here!! Fantastic people, artwork, and overall experience. I will not go anywhere else in Indiana.) Okay, so I got my newest tattoo done on Saturday, but I waited until my healing process was over so I could write a full review. Consultation: The artist (I have had both Aldo and Adam, but I had Adam for this particular design) will treat you with respect and dignity even though you arent a professional artist like he is. He will spend the time to go over your design, your thought process, the meaning behind it, every little detail you want to tell him. Hell offer advice, give you a fair price, and will let YOU (not him) make every decision that is right for you. The BIG Day: Adam and I talked even further about the design that I wanted on my ribs, but it wouldnt fit correctly. Instead of just slapping it on and getting right to it, he spoke to me, even put the stencil on my ribs and then let me make the final decision about where I wanted it. I decided to move it down to my hip/ thigh area because it would look way better. He made me feel at ease and even offered me his own iPad so I could watch Netflix during the procedure. I watched Emperors New Groove which helped get my mind off the pain for a bit. It took several hours. All the while, he made sure I was doing okay, if I needed a break, and genuinely cared for my well-being. When all was said and done, he went over the aftercare instructions thoroughly and assured me that if any problems arose to give the shop a call. Aftercare: I will only ever get a tattoo at a place that has this kind of aftercare process. They use a medical type bandage/ seal for the tattoo instead of saran wrap. You leave it on a full 72 hours (which I made sure to do) and then shower with Dial gold and put a thin layer of lotion on it after drying it. Every other tattoo I have had that used the saran wrap, I got horrible scabbing that itched and have parts of my tattoo that didnt heal correctly. With this process, there are NO scabs and the tattoo looks and feels amazing! I am so thoroughly impressed with this company that I will never go to another tattoo shop in Indiana. If I move to Ft. Wayne I will drive the three hours to get to Carmel. I am in no way related to the staff or have any financial agreement with them for writing this review. I honestly just cannot say enough great things about this tattoo shop. Thanks for the great tattoo, Adam!!

I cant write a completely bad review, because Im just not that kind of person. But I went in there on a visit to Indianapolis after quite a bit of research on multiple piercing parlors. I chose this one because I couldnt find a bad review on it. What I remember most about one review is that it said the people were nice and the atmosphere wasnt dark like most bod mod shops. That was true, so this doesnt deserve a 1. But the piercing process itself was horrendous. I first got my rook pierced, which she neglected to clean BEFORE she pierced my ear all she did was put Vaseline on it (which mind you does not clean it in any sort of way), and went in with a curved needle. Curved needles are okay when theyre the right size for the jewelry you put in. Which is why I decided to write this review before I went to bed. I just took thirty minutes trying to put in a broken ring, which I got pierced with there (not broken at the time) to come to find today that the ring was smaller than 18g. This upset me tremendously because I specifically asked for a 16g ring. I knew thats was rook rings had to be, or else theres too many complications (mainly rejection though). And since it is broken and does not fit my presumed size of a 16g, I cannot replace it with a functioning ring until I got out and buy one. I do not recommend this place for anyone who is seeking it for piercings. I cannot, however, talk about their tattoo service and whether or not it is a bad as piercings.

This was by far the worst tattoo experience I have ever had! Michelle was bad-mouthing another customer to me while I was waiting all because the customer was unsure and nervous about her first tattoo. Adam was very rude and not friendly at all! After my tattoo had healed, it looks horrible! The outline does not have straight lines and is missing in some places! There are spots where the ink completely blew out and other spots where the color ink is completely missing. It took a lot longer for this tattoo to heal than all my others and now the outline is raised like it has been scarred. Also, I have never had a tattoo hurt that bad, so I feel like he was overworking the skin due to him having a bad attitude. I know they offer free touch ups, but I do not even want to go back for fear that he will mess it up even more out of spite! This guy has no idea what he is doing when it comes to tattooing. I came to this place because I had read all of the great reviews on here, but they must be fake or yall are crazy! Overall, these people are just very unprofessional. I would rather pay someone to have if fixed then come back to this awful place! I will be sticking with Metamorphosis in Broad Ripple from now on! Update: This was posted from a friends account for I wish to remain a secret shopper! Also, not even an apology for the trouble in the owners first response? Once again, very unprofessional!

So I had gone into Carmel Ink for a regular rook piercing. Michelle did it, shes done most of my piercings, and it went smoothly. Six weeks later I went back in to have it changed. When I called to make the appointment, a guy answered the phone and assured me he could change the piercing for me no problem. I go in and the piercer is obviously not qualified. He has since been fired. He couldnt get the earring in that I wanted so we put in a different ring. Later I find out that it was the wrong size. After crying and saying a few curse words he told me that he "had never pierced one before and only changed this piercing once". I was livid. I informed Michelle who told me she would fix my piercing for free. A few months go by and finally I have the time to text her. She responds saying she has the flu and will get back to me when shes better. 3 weeks go by and I finally text her. No response. I text her later that week. No response. I am very disappointed and angry that I cant even get my moneys worth out of this piercing. I have since gone to Indy Tattoo Company. They were amazing. A man there informed me that Michelle never does anything unless money is involved. So if you have a botched piercing, better find a new parlor.

I went in for a memorial tattoo after having to put my dogs to sleep within two days of each other. I was an emotional mess when I called to schedule the appointment and was treated very well on the phone by Michelle. We exchanged a few texts after that so I could send her my design idea. She was very kind and empathized with me about the loss of my dogs. When I went in, I barely had to wait more than 10 minutes; my artist Justin had already drawn up my design and was ready to go. Both he and the owner were wonderful; when I shed a few tears at the beginning, they asked to see pictures of my dogs and were extremely nice throughout the entire process. I cant begin to tell you how much I love my tattoo! Justin totally exceeded my expectations! He knew how much this meant to me and did an amazing job. I will absolutely go back, without a doubt and recommend Carmel Tattoo Ink to everyone looking for a classy, professional shop with technically superior artists. Thank you, guys, for helping me remember my dogs in such a special way!
