I dont normally do reviews, but Menards have spurred me to come out of my shell and do this one. I have never dealt with such an atrocious company in my life. And I fly a lot, so I have to regularly deal with airlines! If there was a zero star option, I would select that one. In November 2016 I placed a special order for a washer and dryer. We were told that it would arrive December 14th, 2016. December 14th rolls around, nothing. I follow up and we are told that it isnt here. When I ask why theyve missed their date, they decide to cower behind a technicality of "it was only a projected date and is in no way binding". This was the first Id heard about such a technicality, by the way, they didnt say anything like that to me when I was looking to purchase. No apology, no proactive customer service, nothing. The only time they have been efficient and pro-active in this whole charade was when they were taking my money (a not insignificant amount)! It is now January 17th, 2017 on this review. More than a month after the "projected" delivery date, and there is still no sign of this order in sight. I am merely told that it is "in transit". No other information, and a refusal to give an exact date. The washer, apparently, is in stock, I learned. They are just waiting on the dryer. When I told them to go ahead and deliver the washer now and the dryer as it comes, I was told "that would incur another delivery charge since we would be making two deliveries". They said that to a customer that they had stiffed out of over $1500 and have gone over a month without delivering on what they have sold! They were not prepared to be proactive about the situation and simply swallow a second delivery fee to keep me happy. I have never met such incompetent, entitled, lazy and unscrupulous people as I have at Menards. My wife and I recently moved house in November of 2016. We are still without a washer and dryer, having to resort to our local laundromat. We have big plans to remodel at least three rooms in our house. Menards will get absolutely ZERO of that business (my estimate is looking at about $20k). I will have absolutely nothing to do with this company ever again, and cannot encourage people enough to AVOID this company.

Ive had a really bad experience trying to get windows here. First I ordered and paid. When I went to check the status online, my window had been cancelled. I didnt get a refund or communication that this had happened. They said they couldnt make the window. When I said its actually 4 windows put together, they assured me that they could have it made and that the order was back in. I went to pick up other orders and checked on the reorder. They couldnt find it. After waiting on some email from Jeld Wen, they again tell me it can be made, but it had not been reordered. By the way, it went up $500 in price and if I still want to purchase it I have to come pay the difference. This period of time passing has been 6 weeks from time of order. I ended up buying 4 windows and will get them put together elsewhere. Those windows are still not in yet as well. So windows I tried to order and needed weeks ago Im still waiting on. Then on totally different order parallel to those windows... I ordered a 50x58 block window but cancelled it right away and reordered a 50x50. I waited a few weeks for it to come in and it was damaged. They told me they would get it reordered. So I get a notice that it has come in within a week to find out when they reordered for what was supposed to be 50x50 window, instead they reinstated the 50x58 purchase that I cancelled and have received a 50x58 inch window. So im going to have to go there and tell them that I have to have the 50x50 and they will have to order it a third time and send the 50x58 window back. It has not been a pleasant experience. Up intil this point I loved Menards. Its great if they just have something in stock that you want or need but if you have to order anything it can be a pain. I have another friend that has had a similar experience with their house build. It is worth it to pay a little more and go elsewhere. The hassle isnt worth the 5 to 7% savings you may get.

I am a contractor and I do tons of business at the Bloomington store. I recently purchased a 32 foot extension ladder for around $400. It was just too big for me to handle as I work alone. I went to return it and was treated like crape! The guy at the return was very unhappy about it for some reason and requested for someone to come and examine it, like I had damaged it or something, or like I was trying to get one over on them. When the exam passed, he wanted my debit card to refund the money. As soon as he saw it was Old National Bank, he groaned and said that they always have problems with ONB cards. He tried several times to refund the money but it wouldnt go through. So he said he would have to give me a store credit instead. I told him that I had paid it and that they had the cash and that I didnt want a store credit. He called the store manager over and the store manager said sorry, that was the new policy! I looked at this big sign that covered the store policy and no where did it say that I had to take a store credit. I wanted it back on my card or the cash back. The store manager was a real jerk and said it was a new policy and refused to give me my cash back. I was forced to take a store credit. But am so mad that I am now forced to shop there when Im so peeved at them. I think the store management sucks!!!! If they have my cash and I return something within 2-3 days with the receipt and the merchandise in perfect condition then I dont care if the card doesnt work or not. I want a refund! In conclusion, I would NEVER buy a large item from that store again and would warn everyone else to go somewhere else for big purchases for the exact same reason! If something goes wrong and you need to return it, youre screwed!!!!

A customer ordered a large amount of drywall and called ahead and paid for it - they said it WAS ready... I went to pick it up... they were in a crowd standing around - After I found them hiding in back... and they were like daaaaaaa you want What??? and Finally I went through several people got the drywall and they shorted me about 5 sheets... and I had to go back... I guess you get what you pay for... I am correcting a "professional tile job" by an installer connected with menards... where in the heck did they get this cheap clown and his messy terrible work... customers thought they were getting bargain UNTIL they saw finished product and Menards said what you see is what you get... and they had to hire ME - a real tile guy to redo it ALL... stay away from Big boxes who give cheap installs... you get what you pay for and have to pay AGAIN to have it done Right..,.
