Great service, Great selection, and a staff that works very hard to make sure you have fast and superior service. However. If you want to work here, change your mind fast because speaking as a former employee there is no place you will ever work where you will be treated more like scum by the owner, Linda Johnson. While she presents a smiling face to most customers, there are a few of them that have seen her completely lose control and spas out on an employee that has made a trivial mistake. Just imagine what happens behind the scenes.

I was there today for the first time. I needed a part that cost less than $2 and they opened up the box for a $100 tool to make sure it would fit, so that I did not need to make a second trip. You do not see that very often. EXCEPTIONAL. Also there is a review on here from a former employee that I feel should not be there. It says the store is greet but is a bad place to work. What does that have to do with whether it is a good place to shop?

Knowledgeable staff, friendly and astute in their suggestions. Most any item needed is stocked with seasonal products upfront. Older world atmosphere makes shopping their friendlier than larger big box emporiums. Reminds me of hardware stores which I dealt with in the past in Vermont. Friendly staff adds to their appeal. Why drive all over town when the best products are found locally.

BEST STORE! They have absolutely everything; will order anything for you; have a knowledgeable and very helpful sales staff. A REAL hardware/general store! Much better, and as inexpensive as those Big Box stores. Western Springs is lucky to have Johnsons True Value --- and it was in the movie "Contagion" with Matt Damon. Look for it!

Very helpful staff. Much better destination for DIY-types/beginners and homeowners that have questions than going to a big box store like Home Depot. I always feel like they care more about helping me with a project than upselling me on something I dont need, and I dont have to spend 20 minutes hunting a staffperson down to get help.

Linda Johnson and her staff are always ready to provide friendly and helpful service. I have purchased all of my lawn mowers and snow blowers and Weber grills for the last 30 years from Linda and her parents. I do not need to travel to a big-box store when we have a place such as this right in town.

We are lucky to have a resource like this in town. Before you drive all the way over to one of the "big box" stores in Hodgkins give Village True Value a try. In my experience the staff here are more knowledgable than the guys in the orange aprons and they are a heck of a lot closer to home.

Im a consummate do-it-yourselfer. I come here all the time for parts and advice. Yes, the prices are higher with some products than a big box store, but you wont wander around trying to find an employee to help you. Perfect place for home projects.

I have been shopping at this TruValue for 25 years. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and always curious. If I have any questions about anything I want to do around the house or yard there is always someone with the answers.

Jeff in paint is very knowledgeable very helpful. He was able to match a paint from another brand that wasnt "able" to be tinted that color. I would recommend them in heart beat.

This is an old-fashioned, customer-centric hardware store with friendly, knowledgeable staff. A great place that deserves your business.
