This is was first experience with this place, so I want my review to be as objective as possible. I took my family here last night for dessert after eating dinner at Basils. Upon entry, our party of 4+2 toddlers had to wait about 5 minutes for them to set a table (the place was empty, but I can understand if they werent expecting any visitors after eating there). Upon being seated, a young waitress came around and placed glasses at our table. These glasses had pieces of food speckling the sides, which I pointed out to her: "These glasses are dirty, can we please have different ones?" She responded, "theyre not dirty, they just need to be polished." I just pointed out the food particles on the inside of the glass, yet she still insisted they werent dirty. This means they must serve these dirty dishes all the time and think they are clean! Nevertheless, she replaced them with different glasses. I ordered the "Death By Chocolate" and the"Triple Chocolate" blended drink (This combination should have knocked my socks off with all the chocolate it should have had. More on this later.). Two others in my party ordered ice creams; when the food was brought out, they forgot one of the ice creams. Everyone waited for them to bring the final persons ice cream out before eating (we waited 10 minutes, then had to remind the waitress of his order before they brought it out 5 more minutes later). No apologies were given, even though the first persons ice cream was half melted before the second persons ice cream made it to the table. Back to my order: This cake was so weak of chocolate or anything rich, it was literally just a piece of chocolate cake with chocolate icing (I would equate this to the cake you get at Portillos when ordering the Cake Shake). It did not deserve the name "Death By Chocolate", and it definitely was not worth the $6.50 for the 1/8 slice. I would easily rather have spent the money driving to The Cheesecake Factory and ordering my usual Godiva Cheesecake. The blended drink was okay; it really didnt leave an impression of positivity or negativity. Overall impression: Im never going back or ever taking my family here. The wait staff werent attentive or apologetic. The timing of delivering everyones order was terrible, especially considering this place serves food that has time constraints (ice cream). The bill ended up being over $50, which is more than if we all went out to The Cheesecake Factory and each gotten a slice of Cheesecake. This place loves to think they are high-class, but they are no better than eating from a dirty kitchen.

If you love chocolate this is the place to go! As you walk in you see some tasty treats like macaroons and marshmallow pops. Blonde brownie bars and cookies. The giant chocolate Carmel pretzel cookie was phenomenal, Id share it next time (completely felt glutinous having it all to myself). There were cake pops at the register as well. To your left opposite the baked goods side is another wall of goodies but to be honest Ive saved that wall for a second visit. The place is decorated with so many goodies, a newbie would be overwhelmed. To the left of the register is a chocolate display of what I felt the Willy Wonka chocolate shop in Italy would look like. Although you can also take a jewelry shop and replace the gems with chocolate. Walking amazed from right to left at the ridiculous amount of delicious flavors. And the artistry of these chocolate pieces are spectacular, I contemplated maybe just buying it to start a chocolate art collection. But who can sit there and stare at chocolate without wanting to bite into it? I left with two pieces of the English toffee and the dark chocolate salted Carmel. Oh. My. gah! Soooo good. Next door is a cafe. Ive been there a couple times. Its definitely a date night spot or a place to have an intimate small gathering. I had a chai latte and a decadent chocolate desert. I would definitely go again. They do offer gift certificates, but call in advance they may run out. It would make a great gift!

I love the concept of Le Chocolat SO MUCH and Im all about supporting small, local business. Ive found that the execution is a bit off but I continue to go there, because hey, these are college kids for the most part and I appreciate that the business tries to employee college kids. When I heard they opened a bistro, I was THRILLED and my friend and I went right out to support it! The wine was warm, the bread was cold, and the frisee salad and scallops were both gritty - tasted like they werent washed well and there was sand/dirt still in both. Disappointed, I went to the back and pulled the manager aside and told her what happened. I told her these were all fixable things and I realized they were still opening so just wanted to let her know how disappointing the meal was. She asked if we wanted other wine (no), another entree (no) or dessert. We opted to turn it down because we werent sure what wed get. When we got the bill, nothing was comped, even though I had only taken 2 bites of a large entree salad and drank a couple sips of the warm wine. However, we didnt want to argue about it and having already provided direct feedback and an opportunity to fix it, we paid our bill and left. So sad about this experience; will definitely not be back for the bistro...and probably not for the desserts either. Its too bad, its SUCH a cute place!!!

Last Saturday we (husband, toddler, and I) stopped by this lovely French cafe after the visit to the childrens museum. Now, I usually take my coffee black, but after reading the very detailed descriptions of their choice cocktails, opted to try the Caramellato, wholly husband tried the white chocolate mocha. Both were outstanding! The real caramel in mine and the tiny white chocolate pieces in his, made our drinks incredible. Not to sweet, great flavor, and very beautifully presented. We also ordered a chocolate croissant and three macaroons to try. All was delicious. Toddler grabbed one macaroon and would not let us try any, he loved it so much! The vanilla one was my favorite. Im not sure when/if this place gets crowded, but around 10:45am we had the whole window side area to ourselves for most of the 30 there. The other side, the store, had so much variety, the toddler was losing his mind. I got 9 macaroons to go and got a nice deal on them. Cant wait to come back!

This place is so awesome...food is great, ambiance is spectacular...however, the service is terrible. I took my wife, grandmother and a baby here and we were so excited about the menu. First, it took almost 20 minutes for someone to take our order...the place isnt large mind you. After I ordered what is effectively a banana split, we waiting 30 MINUTES for the desserts. I finally went and asked the young waiter what the deal was and he said, "Im sorry, your dessert is pretty technical, only a manager can make it." Really? Cut some bananas...or better yet, realize that we have a baby and if you know its going to be nearly an hour from when we come in, let me know about the desserts technicality? Or, when its getting long, come and tell me? My grandma brought this up to the guy after we were done and he said, "I am really sorry, if there is anything I can do. Would you like some more water." Loony-tunes.
