When there is a home improvement store at every other corner you would think customer service and keeping your loyal customers to come back would be something to strive for, not at the Montgomery Menards. Went there on a Thursday night and bought a gas wood chipper, got home from work on Friday late afternoon excited to use it. Ran it from 4-6pm then the engine died like it was out off gas or something, could not get it going again. I called the store and talked to the front end manager who told me it was within 7 days and I could exchange it. Great I thought till I get there and they will not exchange, return, store credit nothing. Store manager tells me since it had gas in it, it is my problem now and to find a small engine repair place and theres nothing he can do. Menards does not stand behind there products and does not care about there customers. I would say I shopped here atleast once a week but my bisiness will now to else where.

Good store, close by, but bad experience with a front-end manager who was rude, argumentative, and did not want to stop talking with colleagues to help me find a rebate ticket! When she finally noticed me standing there, she didnt greet me or come over to me, just looked at me. So, I explained what I was there to get. She finally came over to look it up on the computer. Because it was an expired rebate from a month ago, she made sure to tell me it was hopeless to try to redeem it a second time. (The first time I sent it, it appears to have been lost?) Finally, I asked her to print it out for me because I really did not want her opinion, I wanted to resubmit it. She printed it, handed it to me, and without a word went back to talking with her colleagues. My thank you was ignored as I left the store. Overall I am baffled at why she was so disagreeable, and I have never had a bad experience at the Montgomery Menards until yesterday.

I am just walking out the store in a very upsetting mood. Everyone was nice except the cashier Christie who was very rude. She started ringing us up, didnt say a word, had a very upset look on her face. She even asked another staff member for a SKU number but in the worst tone and attitude ever. She was even literally tossing the items to my husband on the belt, very disrespectful. The store is just fine it was just the customer experience we had that ruined the shopping trip.

This is one of the better locations in the area. Better service selection and organization. Only if convenient will I go to Batavia, I would drive by Batavia just to go to the Montgomery or West Chicago menards. I used to frequent Batavia. Now I go elsewhere.

Why do they have three generic brands of power tools? Who needs the choices of junk to choose from? Good hand tool selection though, they could use more lumber inside as well. Aint nobody got time to walk a mile to the outdoor lumber yard.

You come in to buy a large gun safe but cant find anyone to help with a few questions. Finally find someone but they cant answer any questions. Then you realize why some companies will make it and which ones wont.

I always find something I need to buy even if its just a flashlight on clearance. Check out the oops paint $5 a gallon. Deals are always abundant however normal priced stuff is usually over priced.
