For starters, ignore the reviews that complain about Wally. Theyve been under new ownership for a couple years now (its currently Jun 2013) and they are awesome. My wife and I were helped by Dan as soon as we needed it, and Dan was a great guy. Very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. We traded in my 15-year old clunker and got a little $ for it and picked up a great new bike based on Dans recommendation. Dan listened to what I kinda wanted and nailed the recommendation. Their mechanic is a friendly skillful guy and put a fender on the bike while we waited. We dropped off my wifes bike for a tuneup as well, and purchased a kids trailer. I took the bike out this evening with kid in tow, and it was an amazing ride!! I feel great about our purchases! Bike Haven is open on Sundays (Great for busy people), they have a good selection of bikes, kids bikes, kids gliders (for the very young ones, no training wheels, no pedals), tools, all the usual addons, footwear, helmets, pumps, kids front seats, kids rear seats, kid trailers, pretty much everything youd expect from a bike shop. They do tuneups of varying levels, will buy and sell for you (consignments). Its great to be able to support a family run store dedicated to bikes. Their dog is super cute too.

Looks like everyones had the same experience here. 1st time I had flipped my bike because I applied the front brake too hard. Back rim was bent. He fixed it but was extremely rude and crabby. I asked him if there was something I could put on the brake pads to make them not stick so much. He said "cut off your right hand." So I was never gonna go there again! Recently my son broke his chain and couldnt wait for me to fix it. Against my better judgement I let him take it there. Charged him $40 bucks. He rode from Wallys to Green St. and the chain came loose causing him to get into an accident! He was injured, the bikes handle bars were all bent up, back tire flat, plus he broke his cell phone too. He went back and the jerk did NOTHING! Wouldnt even give him his money back! I went in there to complain and he started yelling at me even came around the counter like he was gonna go after me. Dont do business at Creepys Bike Hell!!

I bought my first bike from The Bike Haven in March of 2012 after the new owners took over. The service is great, Josh and Jessica are awesome and the rest of staff are very friendly and helpful. Last week I bought my fourth bike in 12 months from them, two for me and two for the family. I also had one of my old bikes tuned up and it now rides like new again. I was back again today buying more accesories The price and quality of the items they sell are fantastic. I also enjoy the weekly rides and cant wait for the weather to warm up so we can start again. Thanks Bike Haven

Wally is a thief. Came in to have my 6 year old childs bike chain adjusted which was a one bolt fix to move the rear tire a bit. This bike was 2.5 months old. I came back and Wally tried to tell me the chain was bad/broke and he replaced it. I inspected the chain before I dropped it off and again when I picked it up which was CLEARLY my same used one. I even went to where I originally bought it to compare it to a new one and they even said Wally robbed me. I had to offer to have Wally arrested to get my money back. NEVER AGAIN. AVOID THIS GUY AT ALL COSTS. S139

Wally will rip you off. Went in to have my tire trued. Wally said it would be $15, come back in 30mins. Came back and he said "Thatll be $15... no, make it $20." I laughed and gave him a $20. When he didnt give me the change, I asked for it we went back and forth for a bit with him insisting that he never said $15. I walked outside and asked the young girl working there what the hell was wrong with him. She apologized and got my $5 change. Nice girl, but what shes doing working that creeper Ill never know. DO NOT DO BUSINESS THERE.

This bike shop is awesome! I have no experience with the previous owner and based on his reviews I am very lucky I never had to deal with Wally. The new owners are wonderful and very inviting. I am just getting involved in the cycling world and have been renting a bike from them. They have been very patient with me and have taken the time to educate me on all things cycling. When I am ready to buy my new bike, I will be buying it from them! And I know Jessica will make sure its the perfect bike for me! Thanks for the great service!

A great all around bike shop to visit and purchase any cycling item you might need. A nice location and open late in the summer months. They offer a nice selection of road, mountain, comfort and toddler bikes. Service is fair and quick. Prices are good and what you would expect to pay. Great consignment deal if you need to sell your bike or just trade it in. I truly appreciate the honesty and professional, knowledgeable service in a friendly store environment. I can tell you that I will continue to do business with the Bike Haven.

I went the The Bike Haven this week hoping to get some repairs done on an old donated bike for one of my special ed students. When owner, Josh Arnow, told me the bike was beyond hope, I was crushed. But he proceded to tell me he would provide me with a used bike at no cost, for this deserving student of mine. Josh has restored my faith in the goodness of people. The store is not cluttered, and the staff is superb. Thank you Josh for bringing happiness to my student with your generous donation.

The minute I walked in the door I knew I was in the right place. One of the guys brings his doggie to work :). I was from out of state, my daughters bike needed repair quick before I dropped her off for the weekend. They did a quick, excellent repair at a reasonable price. Plus we had a nice chat while he worked on it. Little far to go for my next bike repair, but if Im in the area THAT IS THE PLACE TO GO! Barney from Appleton, WI.

Snapped my rear derailleur cable @ turnaround of 60-mile out-and-back ride. Happened to be a few blocks from Bike Haven. Also happened to be Memorial Day morning. What are the odds a bike shop would be open ... and have a tech on hand? Anywhere else, slim-to-none. But Josh was on the job at Bike Haven and fixed me up pronto. Well-stocked shop with quality bikes and gear ... and awesome personnel. Stop in and check em out!

First and foremost. This is now Bike Haven. Wally is long since gone and it is now owned by Josh and Jessica. They are awesome people that are extremely involve with the community and make many charitable donations. The are more than fair when it comes to pricing and service and are a gem of a LBS in McHenry Illinois. Come out and check it out. They have great bikes and great people. I wouldnt go anywhere else.
