I stopped by with a friend to look around. While at the gun dept. we were looking at some guns through the glass when an employee approached us and told us " If you want to see a gun, you have to take a number". We said " OK " and continued to look at the guns. The whole time another employee behind the counter kept yelling very loudly about having to have a number to see a gun. Soon after, the same loud employee walked right in front of me and said in a very Loud and Rude manner " If you want to see a gun you better get a number and if you dont know whats going on here you better find out". I felt like those comments were directed at me. Even if they werent I was appalled that an employee of a reputable business would talk that way to paying customers. My friend spoke about getting the cold shoulder as soon as we approached the gun counter. As we were leaving the store along with another customer, this person mentioned to us how he had been treated rudely and would not be returning to this store. The biggest regret I have is not reporting this incident to a manager, and telling this person how LOUD, RUDE, and unprofessional this person had behaved. I felt as if I was being spoken to like a child. Needles to say, I WILL NOT BE RETURNIG TO GANDER MOUNTAIN nor will I ever recommend that store to anyone. BASS PRO HERE I COME.

Couldnt be more displeased with a shopping experience. Went there for a specific model shotgun for my fiances birthday. Website said it was in stock which turned out to be false for starters. So I was led to believe it could be ordered and received within a week even tho Id have to make another special trip to the store, way out of my way, but because Gander Mountain was the only store carrying that gun, made the purchase anyway. Received a call 4 days later saying the gun was in. Called to verify and was told they had no record of the purchase even though almost $500 was gone from my account. After receiving no help on the phone from staff there, called UPS to find out they shipped the wrong gun in my name. Finally talked to a customer service manager who assured me the shotgun would come in by the end of the following week. To make a very long enfuriating story short, its been over 3 weeks since the gun was bought and paid for and still no one has a clue where it is. The definition of bad business is spending a significant chunk of money somewhere and being furious at the end of it all. If I can avoid it, I will never shop at Gander Mountain again and will convince as many of my outdoorsy friends to do the same.

I was looking through GM Ads online, and came across a safe that I wanted to purchase. I talked to a bunch of friends that are big hunters about it and they all told me that the service was terrible at GM and they would rather make the drive, and pay more, by going to Bass Pro or Cabelas because they get helped in a timely manor. I didnt believe them and figured I would give Gander a try, especially for the deal they had on a safe. I spent 1.5 hours with a number from the gun counter waiting for an employee to help me. There were around 20 people hovering around the gun counter with only 1 GM employee working. This was on a Sunday, mid day, and it is also thanksgiving week so you would think that the shopping force is more than expected and more employees would be working. Nope not at gander, the owners would rather keep overhead down and customers unhappy. I decided then to call the store to get some of my questions I had answered. I called 6 times in the past 3 days with nobody answering at any department. Unbelievable!!! I guess my buddies were right about the service. Thanks Gander Mountain for wasting my time!!

I ordered a Marlin Model 60 online on 10/8/16 (Saturday) and picked up the rifle 10/13/16 (Thursday). Before walking in, I was a little apprehensive since I had read the reviews on here before which made the Gun section sound like a mess. I was expecting rude employees and long wait times, but what I ACTUALLY experienced was just the opposite. I was helped by Mike F. who assisted me through the paper work to get my rifle. Mike was very kind and helpful and seemed very happy to be there (something I really appreciate). I was in and out within 30 minutes, and was treated like a valued customer. No hiccups, just very smooth and fast (even though there were only two gentlemen working behind the counter) I cant speak for the other reviewers, but my experience at Gander Mountain was excellent, dont hesitate to come to this store! The staff I dealt with was very nice and helpful. Thanks Mike! Dont let the other reviews make you second guess it, Gander Mountain is awesome!

I am a proud American of South Asian decent (basically brown skin) working for a Fortune 100 company making over a quarter million a year. Not trying to brag here – but want to point out that I am educated, hard working person as most folks are. I am also a gun enthusiast. I went to this store hoping to buy some ammunition and possibly a rifle. I have had my share of, let’s say racial incidences, but the guy manning the gun counter obviously had some issues with me being a non-white wanting to buy a gun. He was sure to tell me in no uncertain terms what the country has come to because of immigrants, etc. I will not repeat what he said, but essentially it left me shaken and shocked. Needless to say this particular store has some very serious issues. GM management needs to take a look at its staff here and especially with the staff manning the gunsmith counters. It is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

me and my dad bought a handgun the other day in store, staff was nice and eager to help you out. But Had some license issues when I came in to pick my gun up, issues that should of been addressed before i spent 600 dollars on the gun not when i came in to pick it up. My hard copy license had a different address then my current address, I had changed it online with the dmv in the illinois state system. According to them it is not good enough they want a new license with it printed on the card. so i waited 3 days then had to wait another 3 days cause this happened on a Saturday and the dmvs are closed till Tuesday, so they got their commission on the two gun sale and I got a trip to the DMV and another 20 dollar bill for a new card. But I got a 15 dollar box of ammo for the inconvinence, I would rather have my gun

I generally enjoy shopping at Gander Mountain, but my most recent visit to this particular location convinced me to never return. The clerk at the gunsmith counter felt the need, when he found out my boyfriend and I are teachers, to lecture us about how "the Mexicans are stealing the Southern states from us" and hate white people. He obviously didnt realize that my boyfriend is Mexican, because most people think he looks Italian. He also mentioned "the coloreds" in the course of his rant. I was HORRIFIED and OFFENDED, to say the least! I will NEVER spend my money at this store again. I could not believe what came out of that mans mouth--he should be ashamed, and so should the store.
