Stay clear of their service department. I brought my car in a month ago for my 2014 Ford Fusion. The car kept saying that the key fab was not detected and that battery on key fob was low. I replaced key fab but it was still saying it. So I brought it in to their service department. After them running a diagnosis, Ted said that it needed a new battery. I declined doing it then because I thought the price was too high. I instead went to Auto zone and bought a new battery. After putting in the new battery, it was still doing it. I called Ted back and he insisted that Auto zone uses refurbished batteries and the battery might not be good. I said if that was the case I would return to Auto zone and get a new one but if its still doing it, would they run another test. Ted said that they would run a mini test but if it was anything other than the battery that I would be charged another $124 for a diagnosis fee. I asked him why would I get charged another $124 for diagnosing when I already paid that and the diagnosis was clearly wrong. It was a misdiagnosis. He said that they run it through the flow chart and it told him it was battery. How can you charge someone $124 for diagnosing something and then later say "it might be something else". All I was asking was for them to re look at the problem and fix it. I dont get why I would have to pay $124 to diagnosis something when I already paid that and was told it was the battery and I need to replace it. I used to sell cars and called 2 others service managers and they all said that if its still doing it, it would be a misdiagnosis. Ted insisted it wasnt a misdiagnosis, but was what the flow chart told them. If I would have had you do the battery and then you find out it wasnt the battery, would I have been charged more? Why should it be any different that I was able to do it myself (Cheaper). Ted never mentioned that it could be something else. Said they ran it through the flow chart and it indicated that the battery was low and needed to be replaced. If it was something else it should have been discussed prior to me paying my bill. Unbelievable. ****UPDATE**** I wanted to just update so people could see. I was able to speak with the service manager Bob and he did apolgize for everything that happened. He was eager to to make the situation right. I brought my car in and they think they found what the issue was. The great thing was they were eager to make the situation right, which a lot of service departments are not.

I bough a Ford Focus se 2014 last year at Hopkins ford in Elgin il, and just recently I had the transmission clutch replaced. A week after I picked up the vehicle I opened the hood and noticed that the engine cover was not there any more. I bought the car with the engine cover, and I know it was there because me and my wife looked under the hood when we were buying the vehicle. We were even discussing the pros and cons of having the cover in the car, and thats how I remember the cover was there. I called the dealer and told them the cover was missing. They told me to come in so they can inspect it. When I got there they told me those vehicles do not come with the covers and that its even impossible for them to order one for me. I was saying there was one cos I saw it on my own eyes, and all they were replying was I dont believe you there was any cover on it. They were giving me attitude and just kept saying that the vehicle does not go with a cover. Nobody believed me, and I know what I saw! Those people were not trying to come with a solution to a problem, instead they made me feel like a liar. Im very very very disappointed with that particular dealership. This is my second ford and I think I will never buy a ford again after this service that I received. The cover was there, now its gone, they claim it was never there, me and my wife saw it on our own eyes, nobody is trying to come with any solution to this problem. They claim the cover was not there, problem solved, according to them! The cover costs about $70, so if I really want one I need to get one on my own cos ford does not feel responsible for something they lost. Very disappointed!!!

Needed a new car for my Wife as hers had been "Totaled". She was looking at the Ford Focus as her next car. I was out test driving a Focus at a non Ford dealership down the street. As I was headed home I saw Hopkins Ford and thought what better place to find a good used Focus than a Ford dealer. The wife specifically wanted Silver with a darker interior. I was greeted by a salesman named Israel Gonzalez who asked me what I was looking for and immediately took me to the one they had, but it wasnt right. Israel asked me if I had considered a Fusion. I said I thought they were out of my price range, about $10k. He led me to a very nice looking Fusion that fit everything my wife and I were looking for except the price, about $13k but only 27k miles. Israel offered me a test drive so I accepted. I quickly realized why I didnt like the other cars I had driven. A Focus is not a Fusion.....that was the problem. To make a long story a bit shorter, Israel professionally led me through each step of the buying process and made the whole thing very enjoyable. Ive purchased many cars during my lifetime and the process can sometimes feel excruciatingly painful, but my experience at Hopkins Ford was one of the best I have had. Friendly, Professional, and Thorough, from Israel in sales to Bill in finance, my wife and I had a great experience and she absolutely LOVES the Fusion. Israel was smart. He listened and put us in the vehicle that was right for us. I would recommend Ron Hopkins Ford in Elgin, IL to anyone seeking a great car buying experience. And dont forget to ask for Israel "Izzy" Gonzalez and tell him Ray sent you.

Some background purchased 2013 F150 Platinum MSRP $56,040 extended warranty $1,603. Truck is driven on trips only (mostly highway). 21,000 miles later rotors are warped, Ron Hopkins claims normal wear, I barely use the brakes, but if I give Ron Hopkins more money they will l fix the brakes. The 7 pin trailer connector aux power pin should have 12 volts, I have zero. This is the second time brought in for this problem. Ron Hopkins Service told me Fords are wired differently and Im not looking at the correct pin layout. Looks like I have to rewire my trailer every time I switch trucks, makes no sense. After paying the bill, you guessed it not covered under my Platinum Warranty, I insisted that they fix the problem. Ron Hopkins Service told me that there was no-one there to look at the wiring and I needed to leave the truck or bring it back in the morning. I elected to bring back the truck in the morning and the electrical issue was finally repaired. I asked about the first repair and Ron Hopkins Service told me that this could never have worked because of a missing a fusable link, so the first time they lied or didnt care enough to make sure it was working, great customer service. Im Sure if I gave Ron Hopkins more money they would be happy to help out.
