I recently (4/3/17) bought a used 2013 juke nismo from elgin, and my first impression was good. I knew the car I wanted and there were about 4 in the area that I was looking at. After checking out the car, I addressed a small crack in the windshield to my sale rep (jeff) who assured me that he could have that taken care of by the time I came to pick it up, if not he would have someone sent out to me to fix it. After a long weekend of anticipation I went to pick up the car and asked Jeff about the windshield and he told me he hadnt gotten time to make the call but assured me once again that it would be done the next day and he would call me with an update. Well, after a few days of no call I decided to follow up but unfortunately he wasnt in the office that day. A few more days go by and I follow up again, just asking the status of what was going on. I got the same "I will call him today and get back to you" responce as before. A few more days go by and I followed up again, this time after him giving me the run around, I asked to speak with his manager (mark) who told me he had no idea about this situation and assured me he would get to the bottom of it and get back to me. Well after about 2 and a half weeks, probably 10+ follow up calls, and 0 returns from anyone at elgin I managed to speak with chris who also said he had no idea about the situation and told me hed get back to me with a resolution. Finally I got a call back and Chris told me that Jeff never wrote anything down about fixing my windshield so hes not going to do anything and that "he (Jeff) can say whatever he wants". *Highly* unprofessional; for such an easy fix to keep a customer satisfied and avoid a situation like this they handled the situation horribly. I would not recommend them to anyone. But moral of the story, always get things in writing so you dont get swindled by the fallacies of sales reps just to get a sale.

More than disappointing. I dont think we could have been treated more poorly. Went in to purchase a car. The salesman knew we would be back with all information needed and down payment within 2.5 hours. He told us he would be leaving earlier that evening and tried to push the sale back 2 days?! He told us he would send it back to get cleaned up for us so we could complete the sale more quickly and be on our way. We showed up to complete the sale in under 2 hours only to find out they had sold the car already . They then tried to sell us another car for 4K more which was not the model we agreed on. The manager told us he could look for another car like the one we agreed on but that he would have to use his dealer credits to trade for it therefore it would cost US more?! We told him we felt he should make it right and find another car and not up-charge us because of the way we were mislead. This is the way Elgin Volkswagen treats American Servicemen? Shameful and underhanded is how we feel about Elgin Volkswagen. No stars given for this experience.

This a review of used Chrysler 200 I bought from this dealership in August 2016. I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle and I cannot believe a credible dealership would even have this car for sale on their lot. First, they sold me the car without any oil in it yet, the oil indicator read 100%. The car died out on me a few times so I brought it back to service and they told me there was nothing wrong and that I should contact Chrysler! I brought it to my mechanic and he told me right away that there is not any oil. Its not leaking but its just consuming a lot of oil. Like 4 quarts every 1000 miles. So, I have had the car for about 6 months and have only put about 4k miles on it but Im on my 4th oil change. Worst car buying experience I encountered and I have bought at least 10 cars. This place is shady and I would never recommend anyone buying a used car from this dealership. I mean, who sells someone a car without any oil?!?! Then claims they did nothing wrong?!

Really great service with super friendly people! After having a terrible experience at the Crystal Lake Volkswagen for service, I decided to try Elgin. Little did I know I had been being treated like absolute garbage at Crystal Lake for 3.5 years! This place WAS AMAZING! Super fast, they actually call you when your car is ready, and do the correct job the first time! I used to dread getting an oil change or having any work done on my car but I honestly cant wait to bring it in again. Everything that used to be a hassle was just so easy!!! Maria helped me out and everything was great. I paid a fair price and cant complain about anything. Also, a fair note that the Car Wash was 1000% better than Crystal Lake. My car looks SO clean. You absolute need to go here!

From start to finish, my experience at Elgin VW was nothing short of exceptional. I inquired about two vehicles, though I settled on a manual GTI and dealt with Sandy, Internet Concierge, and Danny in Finance. They had everything prepared and waiting for me when I arrived, making my purchase the smoothest transaction I have ever had. Grant, my sales professional. was also fantastic, fun and a pleasure to work with. I am extremely thankful for the attention to detail and their making me feel like my business was appreciated. I am a Manager at an Audi Dealership and this is the kind of treatment my customers receive. I am grateful and very impressed with this dealership. Please make this your first and only stop for your next vehicle purchase, I highly recommend them!

I went in for an appointment at 9:00 AM on a very busy Wednesday. Steven Eckhardt, the assistant service manager up there, was helping multiple customers when I pulled up. He was still nice enough to take time and direct me to the waiting area until he finished up. After he finished up, he rushed back to the service desk to check me in and then showed me to their nice lounge area thats packed with complimentary snacks and beverages. They managed to service my vehicle earlier than the time they originally said it would take and even gave me a slight discount off of the quoted price. Needless to say, my experience was great. Ill definitely be back! Steven couldnt have been more professional throughout the process either. Five stars!

Talk about a night and day experience! I brought my gti to another dealer in Crystal Lake to have it repaired. After having the worst service ever at that dealership I got it towed to elgin vw. There they actually call you back AND have your car diagnosed the first time the right way. Very professional service dept, they have very competent techs and the pricing was on par or even slightly better that the other dealership where I brought it. My car seems to run even better now than even before the issue it had with the engine. I wouldnt hesitate for a min to recommend these guys to anybody that has a vw! I definitely will my car back if any further issues arise! Thanks again to the guys at elgin vw!!
