I have a Cannondale that I commuted on for years out east and then in downtown Chicago. However, it was in need of some additional work and, new to the suburbs, I went to the Trek store to get some low-end parts. Original sales rep at back counter/service area was okay...not particularly friendly or anything but sold me the parts I wanted, so nothing really to note here. However, I decided not to use the particular parts after all and took them back, unopened, about 60 days after purchase. To be fair, I didn’t have the receipt (funny how things disappear when organizing after a move) and given that I knew the store has a 30-day return policy, I thought that I could at least get store credit as there are other parts I will need for a beater frame I recently purchased to commute on instead. The clerk called over the manager, who was totally inflexible and was only interested in determining what other parts I needed (which I hadnt decided yet). The fact that I couldn’t get a credit is okay, but the questions irked me as seemed as though he had discretion to take back the items (if I was going to spend more on something else) but decided not to extend me the courtesy. To note, the manager and the clerk kept saying they couldnt find me in the system, which really isn’t my fault (it just means that the original sales rep couldnt be bothered at the point of sale to actually enter my info). The clerk and manager then asked me when I bought the items. Being honest I told them when. Maybe I should have told them I bought the stuff the week before...then this would all be moot. At any rate, I realize I went well past the 30-day return limit, but I recommend that you keep their policies in mind if shopping here. Personally, I am simply disappointed in the customer service overall and will be looking for an alternative shop where I think Ill be treated a little better. Again, am new to the area, and they lost a potential long-term customer with bigger needs (trailer, kids bikes etc.) in the near future over a few bucks for some cheap parts. Their loss...

I live in the south suburbs and after seeing the positive reviews about this store I called to see if they had a specific model that I had been looking for. Charles answered, who is in the sales department and said he did not have the model I was looking for but asked what features I wanted most... after seconds he recommended a very similar model to me. He said it was not yet assembled but if I was interested in heading that way he would make sure I could walk out with it that night, so I headed north. When I arrived they had it assembled and ready for me test. Needless to say, I bought it and left that night with a perfect fit. I was impressed from top to bottom. Not only is the store in a great location but their selection of Trek and Bontrager accessories is second to none in the area; the techs are knowledgable and Charles made the difference for me. He has very good verbal communication, he is not pushy and he listens well. Lastly- the purchase from this store included a nice supplement of future tune up services. Joel

This store has unbelievably rude staff. Well, at least one of the employees is. I visited the store today as Im shopping around for a new bike. While looking at a bike on the upper rack, a bike next to it came loose and struck me in the head. It was quite painful and headache-inducing. Instead of a nearby employee asking if I was ok, I was instead treated to a mini-lecture about how "just ask next time. It saves our butt and yours." Maybe Im mistaken but what "saves your butt" is putting up signs and installing better racks. It probably wouldnt hurt to train the employees some social skills either. I came to this store because I prefer to patronize local bike shops versus larger or internet retailers. While Ill probably still purchase from local bike shops, I surely wont visit this shop ever again.

Top notch awesome service. Previously I purchased my 7.4 FX from this store, and I love that bike. But I was ready for my first road bike. Christina helped me choose the Lexa SLX. Josh helped with the fitting. Greg kept everything ahead of schedule, as the new handlebar came in early and was installed that same day. And the ride? My first was awesome and my second was just as wonderful. The people at the store care about the details and their product. They help educate the buyer to make wise decisions and understand her new purchase. Would I go back? Well Im already a repeat customer but each experience is better so yeah of course its now my go-to place for any bike-related items. Ive even already bragged to my bike group about this store and the staff.

Had an 18yr old mountain bike and it was time for a new one. They took a lot of time going over pros and cons of each model and style with me. Nice thing is they pretty much stock every make and model of the lines so you can ride them all. Con is that only riding on the streets near by is a little limiting to compare to trail or riding, but they do have a 30 day exchange program. The staff was very knowledgeable when it came to helping me make a good decision. After 3 weeks and 400 miles I am pretty confident in the choice they helped me make. (They were also great in not trying to sell me up to the next bike and higher components that I didnt need.) Service area is clean and polite. Very professional staff... Thanks again for the assistance!

Im a novice when it comes to bikes so I use to buy my bikes from Walmart and they never lasted past half a year with all the biking I do to and from work. I have to get my old mongoose fixed so I went to trek. They were willing to fix it but it would cost more than the bike was worth. They gave me some pointers if I wanted to buy my bike some where else. I decided to buy one of your bikes and one of the men were happy to help. He made sure of everything and helped me so much. I bike every day 5.8 miles. Before my trek bike it would take me about 30min to an hour to get to work, now it takes me 19min to 20min. I am going to come here when this bike give so I can have another awesome experience. You guys are awesome and keep it up!!

I have been a customer of the Downers Grove store since the year it opened. I have bought many bicycles from Greg and his staff over the years. They have always treated me like a KING. They have a complete knowledge of the products, are precise with their mechanical repairs, and have always extended themselves, above and beyond, to meet my biking needs. I have always trusted their advice. When issues with performance arise, they deal with them quickly and patiently until they are resolved to my satisfaction. I ride thousands of mile a year. My bikes are a key component of my life. Greg and the staff at Trek have always placed a a bike underneath me that helps the miles slide by safely and comfortably. They are the best!
