Unfortunately, customer service was severely disappointing. My husband tried to take back a pair of Mizunos that he purchased at FF. At the time of purchase, the salesman strongly suggested that he purchase a sale pair that counteract "pronation." After running in the new shoes, he experienced severe and inexplicable knee pain (same distance, same route, etc.). When, it turns out, pronation is often a good and natural "shock absorber" for our joints, the physical therapist he saw recommended that he go back to his old neutral running shoes. When the pain vanished upon ceasing use of his Mizunos, he took the shoes back and explained that they were causing him pain. The employee at the desk was unable to make any sort of decision, and she deferred sheepishly to the manager on duty. The manager came by, and, after looking at the shoes, said that they could do nothing for us since the shoes had been a sale item. The sale shoes, however, had been highly recommended by the salesman, over other full-priced pairs! We tried to explain that he was fitted for the wrong shoe, but the manager still refused to even provide store credit. He was not friendly, not helpful, and only after we insisted on contacting Mizuno directly, did he provide us with Mizunos number. We called Mizuno, who were extremely friendly and accommodating - promising that their shoes have a one year warranty, and that they would simply trade and send him a brand new pair. They assured us that their aim was to provide him with exactly the right running shoes (versus simply making the sale). Next time, rather than dealing with Fleet Feet, we will order directly from Mizuno and cut out the

I was impressed, now Im mad. I went through all the normal stuff a reputable running store goes through - video my running, measuring the foot, and trying on shoes. They somehow fitted me with a shoe that was 2.5 sizes larger than my daily shoes. They said it was normal because feet swell when you run. I took their advice. Of course, I was getting blisters galore so I exchanged them for a different size after a few runs. There were no questions asked and the exchange was smooth (impressed). The next shoe I ran on was still too big and giving me a persistent blister. I didnt exchange because people told me it may happen before you get them broken in. After about 5 runs, I got leg injuries and I was off my feet for about a year. Im back to running and the shoes still give me blisters. I called about a possible exchange. They said "no" because it had been so long since I bought them. That would be understandable except that their return policy says I should get store credit at this point. Plus, I couldnt have really tried on new shoes during the injury. I think having a documented policy and not following it is against some kind of compliance. I guess I wasted $130. Im not shopping here again. Return policies with running shoes are a very important thing for me to understand and follow. I expect the store to have the same expectations.

Ive been a fan of this store ever since I was preparing for my first half marathon. I wanted to make sure I had the right shoes to start training with & they made me feel comfortable with their knowledge of the sport. The best thing about Fleet Feet is not the prices (since they hardly ever have sales on the running shoes you need)...but its the fact that you can run in your shoes for up to 30 days and return exchange them for another pair if theyre not the shoes for you. I took advantage of this once & it made all the difference in my running & the comfort of my feet. Tip: Dont feel weird trying our your shoes on their treadmills or their mini track. If youre running a lot or long distances, its important to test out your sneaks.

I had an amazing experience at Fleet Feet Sports in Old Town. I have been suffering from painful shin splints and a friend recommended that I visit Fleet Feet. I came into the store around 7:30pm on a Friday. The store closes at 8:00pm. I was promptly met by a staff member and did not feel rushed at all even though the closing time was approaching. Colin took his time, had me run on the treadmill, evaluated my stride, allowed me to try several different shoes and showed me a technique to relieve shin splints! In addition to the excellent customer service from Colin he was extremely knowledgeable about the shoes and the shin splints. I had a lovely experience at Fleet Feet and will definitely be back!

Fleet Feet is my go-to place for everything running! I originally heard about them from a co-worker when I was looking for my first pair of marathon shoes that said they look at your old shoes and watch you run in them to find the perfect fit. Not only will they find you that perfect pair of shoes, but they also host a TON of free running events at their store. Over the years, Ive attended many events there and LOVED every one of them....historic runs, fun runs, healthy cooking demonstrations, good form running clinics, and more. I definitely recommend it to all of my friends.

Just a huge thank you to Fleet Feet and props to Erin at your Old Town location! I must admit that my friend and I had considered going to a competitor because their location is closer and FF is big Nike shop -- but Erin never pushed a brand! She asked what I was wearing, for what reasons, and just 3 fittings later found a match! And they are dog friendly! 100+% satisfied!!! (P.S. I cannot vouch for the fitting that some criticize here because a physical therapy lab had done my gate analysis earlier, so I walked in already knowing my physical dispositions.)

They have it all and live it! Owner Dave Zimmer is dedicated to Chicago area runners and those getting in shape.... He was on the Mayors Council on Fitness as President and he and his team volunteer tons of hours to help keep Chicago running... literally . Youll find Fleet Feet not only at races but on the Lake Shore trail handing out Gatorade on weekends. Love their "fitlosophy" and treadmill running tests to help find the right shoe for your run/feet. Also love their LOLE brand for her.

This is a great place to shop for your athletic needs. They have gear for all types of weather, and carry very good brands of running shoes. This place also carries the food/ suppliments that are needed when running or any other activities. There are also headphone plugs for your ears made for those small ones, that will stay in your ears as you run, and they wont fall out. Probably one of the best inventions made for running, and I cant find this anywhere but here.

The stores are very nice and the staff is friendly, they do a solid job of fostering a running community by hosting group runs and events. If you need that kind of thing to motivate you by all means shop with fleet feet. However their prices are pretty much retail and you can do much better shopping online, however they do provide a value to the community and you have to balance out if their expertise and fellowship is worth the extra cost.
