Recently while doing some spring cleaning I discovered an unused F.O.G gift card. On the back of the card it had a Homewood, IL address when I called to inquire about services I was told that the Homewood location had closed, and there was one in River Oaks Mall. I called to book a massage and I was told those services were not available at this location, so I decided to book a facial. Like most people I work during the week and am off on the weekends , but when I called to book the facial I was told they were only done on the weekdays. Now, I thought that was some what inconvenient ,but was willing to work around it. I took a day off to get this facial done. I called Friday July 24th at 3:36 pm to book my facial the woman on the phone was friendly and helpful. I made my appointment for 1 pm July 27th . it occurred to me on Tuesday to call just to make sure my gift card was still valid. I thought that would be a fairly easy procedure, but it wasn’t . I called on Tuesday at approximately 10:30 am the women on the phone said that there was a new system and that she would talk to the manger and give me a call back. When noon came around and I still had not heard from her I called at 12:04. She still wasn’t sure, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and made my way over to River Oaks mall. At 12:43pm I received a call I was unable to answer at that time so I called back at 12:59 only to have the women tell me “ I tried to catch you before you left , I waiting on my manager to come out of a meeting.” Now at this point I’m am literally walking into the salon. The women that I spoke to was very friendly and she reiterated again that there was nothing she could do without a manager, because my gift card wasn’t coming up in the computer. So I asked her what she thought and she said I should do she said to go home and that she would call me as soon as her manager was available. Now, that is not what I wanted to hear seeing that I live about a half hour away, and as I’ve already mentioned I took the day off specifically for this facial. Never the less, I went home and a waited her call which I never received. Now I must say the I loved the over all look of the salon and the friendly demeanor of the people that worked there. I also saw some Christian literature when I was there, and when I asked if the establishment was Christian owned the women said yes. I myself am a Christian woman, and love to support my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, but the level of customer service I received I wouldn’t expect from McDonalds. I am very sorry to say that not only will I never be back or recommend this to anyone.

In order to leave a comment you had to give it a star. If I had my way I would give it no stars just for the pure lack of tact and unprofessionalism. Made an appointment two weeks ago in person, but when I drove from my work downtown all the way to River Oaks, the woman who I made the appointment with in person failed to call and say she would not be in. No one else offered to see if they could assist me. And this wild hair woman said in front of a male who was in the shop if I needed a wax. Just plain ghetto. I expect black businesses to go above and beyond the call of duty because its easy for me and my money to walk out the door and patronage a non-black business which is exactly what I plan to.
