I couldnt help but leave there feeling so cheated! My daughter and I made appointments there mainly because not many places around here take our insurance. I filled out all the paperwork and handed the guy my insurance card expecting him to explain my benefits beforehand but he said we do that at the end. I knew I would have a $20 copay and $100 towards my contacts. Go through everything and I see a $106 charge for a contact fitting! Never in my life have I ever paid that much for a fitting. If they would have explained that to me before hand, I wouldnt have gone there. I would have waited 2 more weeks for my trip back to my hometown to go to the eye doctor I saw last year. I showed some distress about it and started to call my insurance. They did knock $20 off. I called insurance and a couple other companies and they say $35-40 is what they charge for a fitting. What if I went through that whole visit and they didnt even take my insurance?! Needless to say, I will never go here again I am only giving it 3 stars because the dr and the guy who did our pre-exam were great.

Special Eyes is really great. The staff treat one another and their customers like family which makes for a warm and welcoming environment--very unique. They find and maintain a perfect balance between professional and casual and its never a chore to stop by for an appointment or any other reason. Their space is very neat and clean and location is convenient in downtown Arlington Heights. If available, Robin and her staff are more than happy to help make frame recommendations to patrons and Ive been happy with my glasses after taking their collective recommendation two times. I highly recommend Special Eyes.

Should be called either Shady Eyes or Sloppy Eyes - kept getting "you have to come in for an appointment" even though my RX was still good for weeks, after following THEIR suggestion and waiting for my insurance plan year to reset. Also got groused at by the co-owner, who is obviously more concerned with getting the last word than with customer sevice. Considering the charges were also pretty expensive, I have no idea how this place is still in business. It was like getting glasses from my mother-in-law.
