As a local, I dont frequent city market very often anymore. I will occasionally grab dinner at Vinnies, Belfords, B&Ds, or Wild Wings (which are all worth it), but outside of that I make it a habit to avoid city market. If you enjoy local art, there are some good galleries, but visit before sundown. After sundown, the crowd can get a bit rough. Definitely not appropriate for children! Ellis Square can be fun for the kids, since they can play in the fountains, but you may come across some unpleasant people - even during the day. The Tervis store is just off the square, if you enjoy the cups. As far as the bars in the area, theyre not great. Just off City Market however, both Ampersand and Social Club are great for younger crowds! I dont want to tell visitors to stay away from City Market, but there are many other great areas of town to visit - most tourists tend to get sucked into staying around this area without venturing out, and you will definitely miss so much of what Savannah has to offer, if you do that!

I treated this place as somewhere to get my bearings straight. Although I disliked the “commercialism” of it all (I came to Savannah to view art/architecture and this place only had the shallowness of both) this place felt like a good center for me to use the public restrooms, get entertained at the nearby park, and relax with my map while I planned what to do next. It has the feel of a cruise port-- There’s a tiny bit of all stores except for something representative of a drug or grocery store present. There’s a tiny bit of the souvenir shops, local desserts, small art galleries, and lots of restaurants. There’s also ample seating everywhere so if you just want to halve your time between people watching and map planning this is the place to do it.

I was just done writing my Wendys review when all of a sudden Google said, "Hey review this other place you were at! We used location services from your phone to see you were here!" Come on Google, a little privacy? Anyway this market in Savannah is amazing. Great food, great drunk people, and great college students to talk to. One time I witnessed a bird steal another birds meal and I felt sad. But I didnt feed that original bird tho, birds got viruses. Anyway, if you are looking for a great place to go have a drink I recommend looking in the City Market, Wet Willies to be specific. Also if you go there and you are wondering what the Treehouse is, it is a bar/club. Also eat at that pizza place thats there Shibs good

Omg...what didnt I love about this place! Its adorable. Open to only foot traffic, lots of cute places to shop and eat, horse drawn carriages are an option to take, an info center so if you want to find something out or go on a tour....they will provide the answers for you. And theres thus place called Wet Willies that has a wall (legit a whole wall) of adult beverage slushies that they make from scratch on site. And if you walk around the corner theres a place that is UK expat that dishes up the most delectable hand held pies....so delicious I went twice, and almost a third (but i wanted to tryout other foodie places). Amazing place and a must see/shop/eat if you ever visit Savanah GA

Good place to listen to music after work. City employees do a great job keeping place clean. Large grassy area should have grass cut taller. Poor selection of uninteresting shops geared toward tourists. A good breakfast restaurant would be nice. Homeless people are a nuisance. Chess board is neat but a better way to move pieces from storage is needed. Shade is needed for performers. Recycling bins are needed. Homeless digging through trash for food is unacceptable. Nice place but it needs some work.

Savannah is very dog friendly. There are two pet stores, one on each end of City Market, named Woof Gang Bakery. They have specialty treats, toys, pet supplies, and gifts. Dogs are very welcome there and your dog may get a free treat. Many restaurants with outdoor eating areas allow you to bring your dog to dine with you. They will bring water in a dog bowl for them. We have visited Savannah many times, but I have to say, its a totally different experience when you have your fur baby with you.

Best place to visit in Savannah in addition to Forsythe Park. Take the tram around the city and get the full tour before heading out. You can jump on and off at different stops to enjoy the city and its many shops and eateries. The Thomas Kinkade Gallary is the best Ive seen. Ask for Judy Breeland and she will spend the time with you to explain as many pieces of art as you need.

Great little open air environment to go shopping eat and drink at the same time. Savannah allows you to carry your beer to go as long as its in a plastic cup and most businesses will allow food and drinks ok stores. Great place to hop on a trolley or take a carriage ride. Sometimes even has live music. Not as crowded as other areas of Savanah but still worth checking out.

7/29/2017 Went out for dinner and drinks, passed through City Market and observed a gang of locals trying to pick a fight with tourists....shame on City Council for not protecting the gem of Savannah Use to be 5 star in 2015 .... This is always a stop for us when we come to downtown Savannah, clean and well kept with a good police presents

The heart of Downtown Savannahs night life. Has everything from exquisite art and jewelry to eccentric little shops. There is live music, restaurants, bars, and much much more. Saying City Market is lively is putting it mildly. It must be seen and experienced at both day and night to be truly appreciated.

Fantastic atmosphere. During warmer months the fountain at Ellis Square is active and is free to play in. Theres so many shops, art galleries, and places to eat. Occasionally Wild Wings has live music outside. Vinnies pizza is outstanding! City Market is also a short walk from Riverstreet.

My friends, family, and I went to Wild Wing Cafe, which I believe is on Barnard, but we had really slow service from a waitress. But overall City Market was amazing. It was so so beautiful, it definitely has history here, and the area definitely has some story to it.

Always clean, with plenty of seating and I enjoy the live music in the evenings. Shops are better than whats on River Street and there are a couple good eateries. Wish some of the bars were better but overall a nice space in the city for a drink, a bite and a seat.
