Pretty darn good. Go in for breakfast or lunch. Ingredients are made fresh by what I assume are recipes handed down from family. The tortillas are made by hand. How can you tell? Different texture to hand prepared then heated tortillas compared to pre-made then cooked ones. Huevos rancheros with red salsa pork. Pork was tender, salsa with the right kind of spicy (hot). There are other meats with milder salsa if your taste buds dont want to be assaulted. Chorizo and egg burrito in a hand prepared flour tortilla was also good. They were accommodating and added potatoes which rounded out the burrito nicely. This place adds cilantro to the chorizo which we were not a costumed too but added a nice contrast to the smoky chorizo. So good that we also had a Gordita (kinda like a pita pocket made out of corn tortilla) with just beans and cheese. Also really good. Surely will be back for more.

Id consider this a hole-in-the-wall except that its clean, friendly, well-lit and in a good part of town. I was in too early at 10:30 for normal protocol but got an explanation of all the offerings in the steam table and even some samples to taste. Both my pork and chile dishes were incredibly flavorful, one red with jalapeno, the other green tangy tomatillo. A chunky Mexicano chicken dish full of mild chile and spicy beef tamales popular at Christmas were for take-out. A huge tempting pot on the stove, powerful fans, a self-service soda machine and a few shelves of ethnic market goods created the low-budget feel that brought in regulars. I was very surprised at the lack of Tex-Mex and the real home cooked full-flavored qualities of varied Mexican recipes in the Westside next to a number of trendy alternative fare.

For anyone who doesnt know about this place... you do not know what you are missing. We visit KC from Nebraska like once a year and this place is a must hit. It is without a doubt the most authentic Mexican food you can get in the U.S. They do not Americanize their product at all, and thank goodness for that. Everything is unbelievable fresh. If you can get there for the breakfast food, thats the way to go. The green chile pork with huevos is amazing, and they have the best tortillas you will ever have. The best part about Los Alamos is the people who work there. They are some of the nicest cooks and wait staff you will ever meet. They will literally treat you like family. Thank you Los Alamos. We love your food!

So much better than Tex-Mex or Americanized Mexican food. Tired of the same chimichanga you can find at every chain restaurant or on the Boulevard? Then you have to treat yourself to this modest location with the best family-style Mexican food Ive ever had. This is low-key but high flavor and top quality food with service that will put a smile on your face. Not sure what to select? Ask for a taste. Ive had lunch there 6-7 times and they always have a good flow of customers, most of whom are regulars. Im confident this humble place will rise to the top of your list of favorite Mexican joints.

My new favorite lunch spot. The tamales are spectacular, and you can watch them being made from scratch while youre eating. Red and green salsas are unique and delicious. My favorite is El Jefe, which is tamales covered in pork with red chili sauce. They have something different every day, and the people are always friendly and willing to explain all of the food theyre serving. You walk up to the counter and order, and they bring it to your table. This place is a local treasure.

If youre looking for frou frou, linen table cloths, or even table-side service, this is not the place for you. But if youre looking for mind-blowingly fantastic, authentic, and delicious Mexican food, then this is your place! If youre undecided, you pretty much cant go wrong with whatever the special is for the day. My personal favorite, however, is the El Jeffe, two homemade tamales drowned in your choice of slow-cooked meat. If you like spice, the spicy pork is sublime.

I am absolutely 100% in love with this place!! Its so modest and nestled into the Westside, with a grocery store near the front of the store and a few tables / booths spread off to the side. By far my favorite Mexican "restaurant" in KC, if you are after some genuine dishes and youre not afraid to venture towards the spicy side - (highly recommended if you really are in the mood). SO worth a visit. I have consistently had an awesome meal every time Ive been here!

I love going here on the weekends to get breakfast! Ive had almost everything that the make and I have not been disappointed. I generally like to get Menudo or Pozole. I grew up in Southern California which means I grew up some fantastic Mexican food and this is one of the best places that I have found so far to get my Menudo or Pozole fix on the weekend.

Authentic delicious Mexican food. You feel like youre in someones house instead of a restaurant. I moved to Kansas City from San Diego where I was right next to the border and this place reminds me of home. Ive only tried their breakfast on weekends but I plan to go back soon for lunch. Customer service is excellent as well.

I cannot for the life of me understand why there are such great reviews of this place. If you like bland cafeteria food then you might like this spot. The queso is disgusting, probably straight out of a can. The meat is tough and the beans, yep, probably straight of a can too. To top it off, its expensive.

I slept on this place too many times and always by passed it when I was working in the area. Never again! I will make it a point to stop in WHENEVER I am close... Actually, good enough to make it a destination location. Lunch was so good I can not wait to try their breakfast!

I wandered into this place and was completely surprised. I love street tacos and have an obnoxious sense for par and fantastic; these were phenomenal. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious! :) Overall, absolutely wonderful.

Amazing Mexican food and market. Selection of a bunch of different preparations of various meat. Reminds me of more "homestyle" cooking, various chunks of awesomeness simmering in different sauces styles. Great tortillas, and great prices.

Best Mexican place in KC, Probably the Midwest. This is the closest thing to authentic Mexican food your gonna get. Cafeteria style ordering. Mom and Pop owned. The owner is usually working and is incredibly friendly to all kinds.

Weve been twice now. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. Some of, if not the best authentic Mexican food weve ever had. Fast service and friendly smiles await. Dont pass up the chance to go if youre in the neighborhood.

We stopped in on a whim while visiting KC and were blown away by the atmosphere and the good. The owners came out and spoke with us and made us a feel at home. And the food amazing. I highly recommend the chilaquiles.

This place is awesome. I was looking for menudo on a weekday and, while they normally only serve this on the weekends, they offered to reheat some. Talk about customer service!
