Our CarMax experience for the most part was excellent. We found the car we wanted online at CarMax in Memphis TN. We immediately clicked the "transfer the car button" and within 2 hours we were contacted by our assigned sales rep, Bob. Bob did a great job of keeping us update during the 10 days or so we were waiting for the car to arrive at the Buford GA CarMax. I guess the only reason we wouldnt rate the experience a 5 star was a failure to communicate on what CarMax expects if you write a personal check. I brought a check from the bank for the majority of the cost of the car but planned to write a personal check for the balance (around $5,000). When we arrived we had decided to let CarMax evaluate my 2007 Mercury as a possible trade in. We didnt expect to be offered anywhere near what we wanted but that part of the deal went better than expected so we agreed to sell the Mercury. That only left me owing $657 instead of $5000! I put up the check book I had brought to write the $5K check and got out my "everyday" check book. Well we couldnt believe the hassle we went through over a $657 check when CarMax already had a bank check for $20K and my Mercury. That was close to being a deal breaker. We almost walked out. I guess if I would have owed them the $5K it would have been a deal breaker. Bob should have discussed with me prior to our coming to pick up the car what would be expected if we werent financing with CarMax. Also, we were there for about 3 hours. Not a soul offered us a drink of water or cup of coffee. We were totally famished by the time we left. Other than the check issue and not being shown any hospitality we would recommend CarMax. We still think we got a great deal both on the new car and our trade and for the most part, CarMax made it simple. Oh and by the way, we dont remember the lady who did our final paperwork but she was awesome! Great personality and very professional!

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Looking for a low mileage, late model Maxima & was perusing CarMax on Saturday afternoon when a 2014 with < 4K miles popped-up @ what I thought was a fair price. I was able to put the car on hold & decided Id make the trek out to Buford versus having the car transferred to Kennesaw or Roswell, though I live much closer to those locations. It turned out to be great & lucky move....... On the way over, Sue Choi called me from CarMax & informed me she put the car on hold & looked forward to meeting me. Sue seemed very sincere & when I arrived 45 minutes later it was very apparent that she was. We looked @ the car (very clean) & took it for a test drive while my car was being appraised. I loved the Maxima & felt if CarMax offered me a fair price for my trade-in, wed have a deal. I felt they gave me a good price for my car & then Sue got me a very attractive rate on the financing. We called my wife Janet got the necessary info from her & then my daughter Peggy drove her over to sign the papers. When I got home, I noticed the car was missing an insert for the front cup-holder. Before I even had a chance to call & inquire about it, Sue called me early on Sunday to ask how everything was with the car. When I told her I really liked the car but that the insert was missing, she indicated shed take care of it right away. On Monday very early I received a call from another nice lady Sabrina who asked that I take a photo of the cup-holder & forward to her, which I did. On Wednesday, Sabrina called me again to advise that she had the part & would send it to me & by Thursday, I had it. Conclusion: If you want to get a fair deal; be treated properly & receive great customer service, CarMax in Buford, GA is the place to go. Ask for Sue Choi & you will not be disappointed.

Overall we were hesitant to buy from CarMax due to all the negative reviews. We had a very professional salesmen. However, we did ask the CarMax that we PAID to have the car we wanted shipped to us to "check out" certain things before we actually had it shipped. We were kind of disappointed with the fact that they "looked" over everything and there were, what they described, as no dents or stains. Realistically there was, and we were pretty disappointed having paid $350 to have it shipped. Also make sure you ask if it has been owned by a smoker, thinking it had leather and not even thinking it would still smell, you can definitely smell smoke. We had the car bombed and most of the smell is gone but a faint smell still lingers. The clean up when you actually purchase your car is not that good and be sure to ask what all is "covered" in the 30 day return bc there were several things they said we not covered. Its always a big decision to make a big purchase. Just be smart do your research. We didnt have a horrible experience with CarMax, however there are a few things that I mentioned above you may want to consider. We love our new SUV and so far everything is going well. Praise God. We also had it checked out at Toyota for any major issues before the 30 days were up. One more tip, never buy a car on a cloudy day always always look at it on a sunny day so you can see any dents or dings that are noticeable in different lights! I hope this helped!!

This was my first experience buying a car from Carmax. Overall, it was very positive. My sales rep, Jack, was knowledgable, personable, and pretty much on it from the get go. A little bit of pressure to close the sale but thats to be expected, but certainly not like the typical high pressure BS we have all (unfortunately) grown accustomed to. The real standout for me for me, however, was the Service Manager, Sabrina. The car I bought had a pretty major problem that I identified during the test drive. Although it took several weeks of effort to ferret out the cause she never gave up, never put it back on me, and was exceptionally diligent in keeping me abreast of what was being done, how long it was expected to take, etc. To say she went above and beyond completely understates her level of commitment to me and the car I purchased. (Sabrina: thanks for everything!) I would gladly buy another car from this Carmax again.

The two people I dealt with at the Carmax in Buford, GA were amazing. I had my car appraised at the Norcross office and they gave me a fair value for my car. I did not realize there was a Buford Sales Center. Jean Habimana handled me payoff and process of my bank check back to me quickly and efficiently. The customer service was outstanding. Chara Owens was so polite and accommodating. She went on and above to respond to my issue by calling the Norcross office and having a rush put on the process of cancellation of my Warranty. I did not even expect that to happen but she handled it all for me without transferring me or having me call myself. That is so rare these days. Kudos to both of you.
