Southern Surplus is an excellent resource for good quality surplus building material products, if you want to save money, but you should be prepared to spend a little time finding what you need. They sell surplus building materials at discounted prices. Their products are stored in a general location and stored based on inventory quantity and available floor space, but regardless of the product, surplus inventory is variable. There isn’t a set plan-o-gram for product locations. Southern Surplus is not a big box store with neatly labeled merchandise descriptionprice tags win location and a neat map to reference a product’s exact location. If one is patient and polite I have always found their staff are respectful and helpful in return. They are very willing to provide advice, direction, and assistance finding products. You may have to put forth some effort to look through the surplus goods to find specific sizes, but it is worth it to purchase quality surplus materials at a substantially lower cost than buying from a big box retail store.

Love..love..LOVE this place! Anything you think that you might need for fixing up a house CALL THEM FIRST! The have doors, windows, columns, sheetrock, siding, doorknobs/locks, cabinets, counter tops, flooring, trim, crown moulding, porch railing, even some plumbing stuff from time to time- a little bit of EVERYTHING! I bought material to build a horse barn as well as doors/locks and sheetrock for flipping a house. Very knowledgeable about what they have- and where its located in their big warehouse And if youre trying to match material for an old house you really need to call them first!

Make sure you know what the fair price is for a particular new item before purchasing here; after an hour of searching through a dark, disorganized warehouse I found 2 exterior wood doors, scratched and dirty, but they would suit my needs: $250 each at SS. Went to Home Depot; same doors new,, still wrapped in plastic and easy to find, were $174 each. If time is not an issue, you can find deals, but its not easy.

Awesome place if you want to save money. Its a task if you just look around by yourself to find what you want, however the employees there are very helpful if you just ask them. If you need odd windows, transoms, side lites, etc. you probably cant beat these guys. We saved a ton of money on our interior and exterior doors and got really good quality as well. I will definitely use them again.

Had a good experience! The employees were friendly. One of the guys cutting doors was not very personable, and could not speak very good English! When the doors were cut and the holes drilled for knobs and locks, they were slightly off! But it was just enough that we had to cut more on the holes! However, over all a good experience!

If you are looking for doors or window you owe it to yourself to check out the selection. Rumor has it that they make the doors and windows for Lowes and Home Depot so why pay a middle man? Good people.
