We recently bought a full blooded Maltese from this pet store from Tyrell. We paid over 2000 dollars for our dog and also paid out of pocket 1000 dollars in hospital expenses because our dog had extremely bad pneumonia from the date of purchase, not to mention he also almost died from Giarrdia and coccidiosis which are deadly worm diseases passed from the dogs at the Pet Land Pet Store in South Orlando. So at the end of all this our dog almost died three time and I have only had him for 3 weeks!!!! Today Im am at the Vet That is recommended by the pet store. Thank God they are awesome they even mentioned to me that most of the dogs people buy from this pet store within days of purchase they are in need of emergency care, Almost over half of them die. I normally dont post or say anything bad about this kind of thing but I want everyone to be aware please do not buy a dog from Pet Land In South Orlando it will bring you more heartache than joy. I really do not enjoy posting this but everybody please be aware do not buy a dog from Petland in South Orlando youll regret it and if you do be prepared to go to the hospital in three days because the diseases that are at that pet place are real and I have proof on a sheet of paper that it was from there and it is not just my dog it is every dog that is sold at Petland in South Orlando. I will be posting a review about this pet store every week to make sure that all of you guys are aware what is going on here. I do not want anybody to endure the pain that I went through with my pregnant wife of our dog almost dying three times when we love him with all her heart that place is more like a rescue shelter than buying a dog that is in perfect shape if I wouldnt of bought my dog the doctor told me that he wouldve died so please be aware again before you buy a dog I think in your head is it worth what Im paying plus another 2000 at the hospital then after all that is it worth the heart ache Im going to put on my kids my wife and myself it is not worth it I promise you. sorry to break everyones heart here sitting in there buying a dog right now and reading my review but if it wouldve been for me you wouldve never known that that place is full of lies and diseases. all the dogs are sick there thank you for taking time to read my review and please just know that Im telling you the truth and if you have any questions I will respond and let you know exactly what is going on . I inquired about a puppy I saw on the internet. They refused to tell me the price of the dog over the phone and said I had to come in person. When I arrived there were over 50 dogs in 25 - 50 gallon sized aquarium tanks on a display wall. Some had more than one dog inside. Disgusting and it smelled of feces and urine. I immediately felt bad for the large amount of dogs that looked trapped. There was the puppy I looked at online. They got him out and I went into a smelly enclosed area about 25 x 25 ft with him. He was a puppy but did not seem interested in playing which was weird but I decided to hold him instead. I was at that point willing to pay the price for the little fella he was just what I wanted. Then, he began TO COUGH UNCONTROLLABLY for about 30 seconds. It was horrible and his whole body was shaking for another 30 seconds afterward. I was scared that he was going to collapse. The associate that was helping me noticed I heard that and then tried to rush me into the sale. I demanded what to know what was wrong with this little, tiny puppy. Hes just on antibiotics , its normal they told me. WHAT?! He was in a little tank with another dog too, and should be quarantined to prevent spread of illness. Nevertheless, the associate could not tell me what was wrong with him but assured me he came from a reputable breeder and would be okay. He had this coughing fit two more times in a 10 minute period. Petland wanted $2600.00 for this puppy and he was on sale (had $200.00 already taken off). I just could not take the risk of something being horribly wrong with him. I feel so guilty for leaving him there and wish I could do something. When I said I wasnt willing to pay for a sick animal he told me they would send me home with antibiotics. This cough was worse than individuals Ive heard with pneumonia. It was that bad. After I said I wasnt going to get the poor little guy the associate took him right out of my arms (yes, he really did) and proceeded to put him back into the aquarium-looking tank with the other small dog. I left angry, upset, and hopeless that this place is a business. They have to make profit which I understand, but this animal was sick. He was lethargic and needed emergency vet care. I am reporting this. My first and last visit to Petland.
