I went to Advanced Auto Parts in Oakland Park, FL on Sunday March 29, 2015 at approximately 1 P.M. My battery was having trouble and I had to jump start my car to drive it over there. I came for a new battery specifically but wanted them to test to see if my alternator was okay as well. A young hispanic man named Carlos, I believe, took the machine to test my battery and alternator out to my car. He ran the test and then told me that it WAS NOT my battery or my alternator and that it was my serpentine belt. I didnt really trust his judgement but he insisted I didnt need to buy a battery and that I needed to go to a car shop. Because of his BAD, NEGLIGENT advice I listened and did not buy a new battery. The next day Monday, I jump started my car again to drive to the car shop. My car stopped in traffic and turned off and I was almost in an accident. I then jump started the car again and fried my alternator because guess what... my serpentine belt and alternator were both just fine and the only thing wrong with my car was in fact A DEAD BATTERY. This man cost me my alternator and $400 I would not have needed to spend. If he did not know the advice he was giving he should have disclaimed that and not pretended to know what he was talking about. My mechanic also looked at the print out he gave me from the test and said Carlos did not know how to use the machine properly and didnt know what he was doing. My mechanic is also a friend of my family for over 12+ years and the most honest man I know just to be clear. I will never go to Advance Auto Parts again and I want them to pay me for the alternator they cost me! Horrible!!!!!

I left the lights on in my car and drained my 1 year old battery. AAA came and ran a 5 minute test my battery and said it was good, just needed to be charged. So I took it into this Advance auto where they ran a 1 minute test, then hooked the tester up to another battery and said they needed to use that battery to print out and said the battery had a bad cell and couldnt be charged. So I took the battery to where I bought it, Auto Zone, they tested it, and amazingly it was good, just needed to be charged! THIS Advance Auto tried to sell me a $125 battery, when all I needed was a charge! This place is crooked, do not go here!

Was going to buy new headlight bulbs. $60 in the store and they are $40 on Amazon. I asked the clerk if they would match Amazon and they looked at me like I was an idiot and told me no. They told me to just buy it on Amazon because its a better deal. This place is lagging behind in the business world and will be out of business in a matter of time. Just save your time and money and purchase your parts online!

I used to go to this store often because of the location, but they are consistently under staffed. If you need help or a part that is behind the counter, go to the new OReillys or AutoZone right around the corner. The staff is likely overwork. I consistently encounter rude staff. The parts are fine I guess.

As a previous employee of the company the customer service here is horrible. Staff has bad attitudes and is racist. I walked up to the service counter first and then a Latino customer behind me. The Latino staff helped the Latino customer first not even acknowledging I was there first.

The employees here are rude. They treat people like we arent spending money. They lack proper communication skills. And the worst part is,when they take smoke breaks, its right at the entrance door! Disgusting!
