American Auto & Tire Repair Service is "EXCELLENT". My vehicle was disabled today and I called American Auto and they were there within 10 minutes, the Technician Travis called Browning Towing for me and he saw that it was too hot for me, a senior citizen to be out there in the middle of the afternoon in 90 degree weather so he immediately said come on, I will take you home. As had had already secured that a my vehicle would be towed. Unfortunately, for me the Edgewater Code Enforcement called another tow truck company and had my car impounded, when Browning Towing company showed up Shane he stated that he kept going up and down and there was no sign of my vehicle. Well, Travis from American Auto came to my house because he could not reach me by phone as my battery was on 0 and I had to charge it. Words could not describe this young mans representation of American Auto. This has been my fourth experience with American Auto & Tire Repair Service and I highly recommend them. Their Honesty. Integrity & Service is SUPERB. American Auto & Tire "ROCKS" I definitely recommend them, you will enjoy your experience and feel like family. My Hats off to them!!! Evelyn Eilets

So over the weekend I ordered and paid in full for two rear tires on my Jeep, at American Auto in NSB. On Mon Rick called and said my tires were in, I told him, I was on an extremely tight time frame, but if he could get me in immediately, that would work. I also told him I had a brake leak and would he top off the master cylinder or should I go across the street and buy a bottle. He assured me they would top it off. So after about 15-20 minutes, I went out and found my Jeep elevated overhead, and the tech holding a piece of brake line. When I asked what he was doing he replied “Oh didnt he tell you, you have a leaking brake line. I replied no “He” didnt, and just put the tires on. My brake line was seeping, not leaking, after their safety inspection which I did not want, now its leaking and not drivable, how convenient they could fix it for $200 and could do my rear brakes for another $200 which it did not need either. Needless to say I declined and took my Jeep home. Had the just pointed out the problem and not made it worse , perhaps I would have let them repair it, Now they will never get any of my money.

I just walked out of american auto today because unethical and illegal practices by both management and staff. we had a customers vehicle for 2 days it came in tuesday with an engine misfire. the tech that worked on it did a POOR job diagnosing without following proper procedures ( i advised him after a test drive to check plugs wires and coil) he took a guess and said its the injector and just replaced it. well that wasnt the problem. as it turned out it was a bad coil !!!!!!! so they then replaced the coil and charged this elderly lady 1000.00 dollars for the injector replacement and labor when her bill should have been about 800.00 less than that. the poor woman was crying over how to pay for it and had to max both her credit cards out to pay for the repair. they where more than happy to basically put her on the verge of bankruptcy the whole time smiling about it. Rookie mistake by unqualified tech. AVOID THAT SHOP AT ALL COST FOLKS !!!!!!!!!!

I have been using American Auto for about 20 years and have been generally satisfied until now. I Had my wife bring our Ford F150 pickup in to have our tires balanced and rotated. I guess $40 is a fair price. My disappointment is that they did not even bother to check the tire pressure because all 4 tires were low on air. We use the truck occasionally so I figured certainly they will check the pressure when they did the balance and rotate. I guess not. What they did do was check the truck and told her that we need to replace our ball joints, idler arm, shocks and get an alignment for about $1,000. Maybe these things might need to be done but they could not even bother to do a simple job right. I will get a second opinion. It is quit evident that their mechanics job is to up sell.

I was employed at american auto and they follow a very poor work ethic i was told to do inspections to let people know whats wrong with their vehicles while they are there for oil change/tires etc and if someone would ask us to check something even if nothing was wrong with it we would sell them a new one or if they wanted an alignment and it didnt need it we would charge them for it and only scratch up the tie rod ends to make it look as if we did something and then the inspections i would get yelled at for doing them properly and be told im taking too long to not to do them the way i was shown so i would recommend another place i had heard nothing but bad things but now i have seen it first hand HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dishonest and untrustworthy! I went there a few times for oil changes and tires without issue, but when I asked them to perform maintenance is when the problems started. They came to me claiming the brake pads, rotors, and calipers were all completely shot and in desperate need of replacement. (About $500 worth of parts/labor) The mechanic went so far as to tell me I was putting other drivers lives in danger if I drove away with the brakes in their current condition. Considering the fact that the brakes had been functioning just fine, I decided to get a second opinion. Turned out my brakes were totally fine, in fact the brake pads had over 50% left on them. Inventing problems and using scare tactics is not a way to earn business.

I just moved to the area from S. Cali. While I was shopping for stuff for the new house my car failed to start for me. I was so upset not knowing anyone here I asked a few people at the store I was shopping at and they all said have it towed to American Auto. So thats just what I did. About 20 min after they got the car the Service Mang. Robert came out and said my fuel pump had failed. He gave me a price of 440.00 to fix the car. I called the Chevy dealer who quoted me 765.00 I could not belive the price difference. I let them do the repair and about an hour later I was back shopping. It was like a pit stop in racing. Fast clean and friendly. I couldnt ask for anything more! THANX GUYS!!!!!!!!

Found my tire was aboout to blow while i was on 95. Limped it to edgewater to stay that night (no where would be open at that time of night to help). After limping my car to two different places, was finally referred to here. Not only did they have my tire size, but they were quick and efficient with their work. When I told them to change all four (better to be safe than sorry), he came out and tried to discourage me from getting the two rear tires replaced. I was quite happy to see that honesty on this. I told him to go ahead and change them anyways. The price was right as well. I have absolutely no complaints about this shop.
