I bought a car "as is" for my son from Family Auto Mart, Inc in August 2014. We did "test drive" the car around the block like they allow you to do, but by the time my son drove it home, 45-60 minutes away, the transmission was shifting hard and had a heavy clunking sound. We called the dealership and was told Edwin would have to call us back. The next day, Saturday, my husband called again. He eventually spoke to Edwin and he told my husband to bring the car up on Monday. My husband called again Monday morning to confirm that we were bringing the car for them to look at, but when we got there Edwin acted like he knew nothing about the problem. I called my husband and he spoke to Edwin and again told him the problem with the car. Edwin quickly assured us they would have the problem fixed and make it right. A few days later we received a call that the car was ready to be picked up. Edwin told us that the transmission had a bolt missing and was moving around while driving and thats what the noise was. He also told us that there was a 1 year warranty on the transmission and if anything else happened to immediately call him so they could take care of it. He again assured us that he would make things right, My son drove the car home and everything seemed to be OK until about a couple months later when the transmission started shifting hard again. We called Family Auto Mart, spoke to Edwin and after reminding him of the problem and the l yr warranty on the transmission, he said he would call his mechanic and get back to us. He called back a few minutes later and asked us to take the car directly to his transmission guy, an hour away from us. We left immediately and dropped the car off at the transmission place. After explaining the problem to the receptionist she asked if they had worked on this car before. I told her Edwin said they had and she said ok they would call us when it was ready. A day later, Edwin called us and said we could go pick the car up. He again apologized and assured us that he makes things right and the transmission should be good now but it has a 1 yr warranty and to call him if it happens again. AGAIN a few months later, February 2015, the car started shifting hard and now wouldnt go into third gear. My son actually got stranded in Orlando and had to have the car towed 100 miles back home. My husband again called Family Auto Mart, Inc and spoke to Edwin only this time he refused to help or "make things right". My husband reminded him about the 1 yr warranty on the transmission and Edwin denied it. After several minutes on the phone and getting nowhere, my husband hung up. We took the car to a local, reputable transmission shop to have it looked at. The mechanic there assured us the transmission had been worked on, but there were metal pieces all inside it and it was completely useless. Now we have a car we bought 6 months ago and still have over a year of payments sitting in my driveway until we can put a new transmission in it. Family Auto Mart and the sales manager, Edwin, are NOT good business people. They do Not care about ethics or honesty. If I could give them Zero stars I would. Do NOT buy from them, I learned my lesson the hard way.

I was trying to figure out how anyone could possibly have given these thieves a 5 star rating. Apparently they offer a gift card if you lie and say your experience was wonderful. Dealing with Family Auto Mart was an absolute nightmare. They started with a bait and switch, talking me out of the car I wanted citing possible engine troubles, and into something more expensive. They promised service if anything went wrong in the first couple months and stated that if there was a problem they couldnt fix, theyd roll my investment into another vehicle. Something in the engine failed in Georgia. They assured me that they would pick it up and repair it, even though it was 11 hours away. I informed them that I had a mechanic nearby and I didnt mind taking care of it, but they promised me this was normal procedure for them and everything would be fine. I also told them I was on my way to California for work, and that I would not be back in Florida for a month. Everything went bad from there. First their tow truck driver broke down and couldnt get there until the next day. Then they told me that the vehicle was missing. After several frantic phone calls to the place where I had parked the vehicle, I informed them that it hadnt moved. Once they finally picked up the vehicle and got it back to Florida, they told me that the engine was "blown" and that they were repossessing it. My payment was not yet due. They would not release the vehicle or my belongings to my agent in Florida. I stopped payment as I was unable get my own mechanic to diagnose the problem. When I returned to collect my belongings, over $100 in tools were missing. My girlfriend came in and asked where the vehicle was located, so that we could look and see if the tools were still inside. The lady became irate and demanded that my girlfriend leave the building. When I started to take my things outside, she locked the door and tried to tell me I couldnt leave. I finally had to push past her and unlock the door myself. The whole experience was disturbing and disgusting. Please be very careful if you decide to shop here.

PLEASE READ!!!!! I read the reviews just like YOU. I gave them the benefit of doubt, I actually thought maybe the negative reviews are from competitors and I would grab a steal. WRONG. I drove from Jacksonville, Fl. I called and asked if the cars I was interested in was on the lot and confirmed the price before I got there and they said yes, yes and yes and even gave me the mileage. I figured - only a fool would advertise a car on autotrader (which is not free) continuously, have the car in stock, confirm the price and there be an issue when I get there. Well, heres the catch, as Ian Rosean and Amanda Marshall stated, a reviewer who has published before me here on google, the cars which ALL OF YOU are seeing on craigslist and autotrader ARE JUNK CARS. Let me explain :) Those cars dont have an engine or transmission etc. In a matter of fact they most likely cant even start in order to leave the lot. So, YES, they do have some of the cars in stock and boy do they look beautiful on that craigslist or autotrader ad - BUT ITS A CAR WITHOUT AN ENGINE!!!!!!!!!!! So, since youre already there and couldnt get the car youre looking for because it doesnt have an engine, how about buy one for 5xs the price you were expecting to spend. AND THAT MY GOOD FRIENDS IS THEIR CATCH. The least you can do before you head to Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaamily Auto Mart - Where were wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeling and dealing Is to ask them about the car that youre interested in, if its part of the "mechanic special" or is it a part of their warranty cars. I will guarantee you its a mechanic special aka a car without an engine or transmission. Youve been warned and it didnt cost you two and a half hours of travel time This is the kind of dealership that ends up on the news because the owner got shot and killed because he mislead the wrong guy and that guy didnt take it well. Its also a black eye for all car dealerships. Dont waste your time - youve been warned
