My fiance and I traveled from Tampa to Key Largo for the weekend just to get tattooed at this shop. We did a TON of research before selecting South of Heaven. After stopping into some of our local shops in Tampa and Ybor City, we hadnt been impressed with the the grungy, punk rock-style vibe and the cliche- hipster attitude that came with it ("What!? You DONT want a huge back piece or a half-sleeve? Then youre not worth tattooing, get out!").. We are pretty clean-cut people and were looking for a shop that could create our *small* tattoos with talented artists, clean tattooing conditions, and a vibe that wouldnt make us feel really out of place while getting tattooed. South of Heaven met all of our needs. The artists were amazing and created both of our pieces to look way better than either of us had ever imagined. Jon does excellent line work and really has a flair for intricate detail. He was able to take the simple design I brought in and really take it to the next level to make it AWESOME. Jason was able to create a "white ink" tattoo for my fiance which, despite Jasons candid warnings that white tattoos can fade/blur/color change/disappear, we really love it and it was exactly what we had wanted. (My fiance is not a tattoo person and wanted something very discreet that has a lot of personal meaning, so white ink fit our needs very well - its okay if it blurs or disappears, Jason....we still love the tattoo and are prepared to get touch ups/cover ups down the road if needed). The reason for only four stars and not five is because neither of the artists were very personable at first- neither artist introduced himself or asked for our names until we took the first step to introduce ourselves - AFTER talking for fifteen minutes about the tattoo design. It would have been a more comfortable experience overall had they been a bit more welcoming in the beginning, as they were very straight-to-the-point. However, their artwork was amazing and Id rather have a good artist than a friendly artist any day when it comes to something so permanent. Prices were very reasonable and the shop was well set-up, clean, and organized. I would definitely recommend this shop to a friend.

Went to this shop on my way home from Key Largo to get a tattoo that had a Dive Flag on the back of neck. Tattoo artist simply got the dive flag wrong, when I looked at it through a picture I could not believe it, I mean, how do you not know what a dive flag looks like specially in Key Largo where you see them everywhere and if you are not sure how a flag looks like at least google it or ask someone before you TATTOO someone. I was very disappointed and got mad when " artist" said, What do you want me to ? Want me to fix it? I was not offered anything for his huge mistake, not even a free ointment. Dont waste your time, go somewhere else Tattoo does not look good now and I had to fix the flag. Worst atmosphere, horrible customer service, no charisma, just garbage. The only good thing was that I was able to get a tattoo asa I walked in and that s because they only had one customer inside. thumbs down. Never going back.

Wonderful shop! I came in with my wife to get a tattoo to commemorate our trip to the keys, and I got (arguably) my favorite tattoo so far. Anthony Bennett was my artist, and was so excited by our idea that he came in early just to fit me in before our flight. Consummate professional and outstanding artist. Everyone Ive shown has been completely blown away by the Xenomorph I got from this awesome shop/artist, and I couldnt be prouder.

Absolutely outstanding. My husband and I both got a tattoo here as our souvenir from our scuba diving trip to Key Largo. Between us we have 9 tattoos and our new additions are by far the most amazing. The artistry and talent and the detail captured is astonishing. I feel like now when we need a new tattoo we will have to trek from MN all the way down to Key Largo because no one will be good enough. I cant recommend them enough.

Went in for a simple "Peas & Carrots" tattoo with my bride of 9 years and came out with a big giggly smile on our faces. Brandon did mine and Anthony took on my wife and they were extremely professional. The establishment is super-clean and well maintained. You can tell that pride is taken in everyones work. I would definitely recommend Brandon and Anthony to anyone and everyone looking to get ink.

Went to South of Heaven as a walk in to get a cover up tattoo. Brandon helped us and was very nice and did a wonderful job of sketching exactly what I wanted. I knew what I wanted and he did my tattoo exactly how I had imagined it. My husband was going to get one, but wasnt sure and he did not pressure him at all and was very professional. Would go back again!
