No idea why Safeway is not being renovated and management replaced. Its quickly becoming the ugliest saddest little place in a Petworth. There are great new alternatives now, with fresh new products like the organic market or the CVS pharmacy opening up only 2 blocks away. And I doubt the community there feels wam and fuzzy about Safeway when they have terrible customer service and theyre doing nothing to join the Petworth revamp.

as mentioned, this is a block or so from the Petworth metro so great if you are transferring from train to bus or switching buses. it is pretty standard--staff is cool, supply is ok. there is no deli or salad bar or bakery at this location--the safeway on piney branch is a fuller store, but it is everything you need that we in American grocery stores are so spoiled by--lots of orange juices, milks, egg choices, etc.

I cant get over the smell of decaying meat when i walk through the door. It has smelled like that since i moved in the area in 2008. I have to hold my breathe just to go in and use the redbox to pick a video. Do dare got to fresh produce. you will find yourself being attacked by flies and other bugs. It is so nasy. i would give it zero stars if i could. I cant believe safeway keeps their name on that store.

Stephanie was in customer service and was very rude. she falsely claimed I needed to know the question and the answer to get my money from western union, all I really needed to know was the answer. I called corporate headquarters in CA and they confirmed this and are sending complaint to the manager who is Stewart

Visited facility 4:30PM on 8 29 07 to utilize Western Union Service. All cashier stations nicely managed but no customer in 2 lines. Manager stated that no staff available for Customer Service Desk. I was told to CB around 7PM but there was no guarantee that it would be open. Is something wrong with this picture?

It had what I was looking for and it seems to have a wide selection of other things. Its comparable to Giant as far as I am concerned, with Giant having a slightly wider selection, particularly of higher-end goods.

I cant wait until they tear this down and rebuild from scratch. Its dirty and always smells awful. I think this neighborhood deserves better than this. Lets close it down!

it reopened in 2014 and is the best Safeway in town. its massive and impressive compared to my Safeway on Columbia
