I dont give 5 star reviews but I had a great experience here, even though I did not buy a car. Anyone buying a new car should come here first for a few reasons. You have nothing to lose - they are fast and convenient and dont leave you emotionally drained. Its kind of like going to Best Buy or Ikea. If they dont have what you want, whatever. They let me take a long test drive by myself and didnt act like they were doing me a favor the way other dealers have. They gave me a fair offer on my trade-in in the time it took me to take my test drive. They gave me a certificate that they will honor that trade-in offer for a week even if I buy a car somewhere else. My sales consultant, Jay Brown was great. He really seemed like he cared about making me happy, not making a deal, making me happy. He didnt give me any BS at all. Ive fact checked other sales people at other dealerships while theyre talking and they will look you dead in the eye and lie and BS to no end. He didnt put any pressure on me. I would have paid a little more here just because it was such an enjoyable experience. I didnt end up getting a car here because the price was not good. It was better than the first two offers I got at a high pressure dealership but it couldnt compete with the sixth or seventh offer I got after being put through 3 hours of mind games. Their offer was thousands over book value. As much as I wanted to give them my business, Im still a sucker for a good deal. It was time well spent though. I have a great offer on my trade-in that I might end up using, got to take their car for a nice spin, and actually enjoyed my experience. If youre buying a used car, start here. You can go to a high pressure dealer after and see if you can haggle them down to a better deal afterwards if youre game for that type of thing. There are a bunch of other conveniences Im not going to mention because this is getting lengthy so give them a shot and find out.

They offered me $700 for my vehicle which was in good condition with a KBB value of $3800... A year later, my wifes 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, that was purchased from this Carmax store, has a ticking timing chain at only 38K miles. Despite purchasing the Carmax Maxcare warranty, they refuse to replace the timing chain. First they admitted hearing the loud ticking and admitted the tensioner needed to be replaced and adjusted because the chain was stretched, then they decided to say they cant "reproduce the sound" anymore and its not bad enough to replace. So what are they waiting for, the timing chain to snap and the engine to blow up before replacing anything? I also brought the car in because the TPMS light kept coming on. These sensors needed to be replaced but they insisted resetting them would fix the issue. 2 diagnostic fees for obvious issues that shouldve been repaired but instead were neglected. The warranty is totally not worth it because they will refuse to do the work. After picking up the Equinox, they said it was quiet again but I would have to keep topping off the oil at every gas fill-up because of the oil consumption. Really, that much of an oil consumption on a 2012 Equinox? After starting the engine in the parking lot, it sounded like a loud diesel once again. The 2011 Equinox timing chains have terrible defects and it looks like the 2012 model is also affected, but theres no recall. By the way, after driving to Dover and back the next day, the TPMS light came back on. so you guys charged me a diagnostic fee for nothing when you shouldve just replaced the sensors in the tires.

My wife and I had a bit of a rocky start with Carmax, Newark, Delaware. The SUV we had transferred arrived with a ton of aesthetic issues that were far from acceptable. After feeling completely let down, we asked to speak to a manager. Jamie quickly took control of the situation and told us she would do her best to make things right. Within a day or so, she called and asked us to come back to look at the vehicle again. To our surprise, Jamie had her service department buff out and touch up the paint. The car looked incredible!! We decided to purchase the vehicle that day but chose not to get the extended warranty. Unfortunately, 34 days later, the window motor broke which prevented us from safely operating it. I called Jamie and she took care of the repair to ensure we were happy. What great customer service!! Nicole and Leah in the service department were absolutely amazing!! They were accommodating to my schedule and made the experience way better than I anticipated. I couldnt give 5 stars because of the initial hiccups and also never received my license plates off my old car. My wife and I were unaware that we had to turn in old plates. Nobody ever informed us about this. Weve received notifications from the Maryland MVA informing us about registering a car we no longer own. Unfortunately, we Carmax lost the plates and now we must deal with the MVA. Though Im not looking forward to this, mistakes happen. Overall, Jamie, Nicole, and Leah took a potentially terrible experience and turned it into a great one!

The customer service was ok. Ms. Belinda was great. However I took my car back the first time because the check oil light a tire rotation light came 1 day after purchase. So they have a 5 day return policy I was able to switch no questions to another car I had my eye on. I was happy for the most part. HOWEVER after my second week I go get my car professionally detailed come to find out there is bumper damage that was not fixed properly, my driver side mirror had been replaced with plastic that wasnt paint good there all types of scratches that were not visible upon purchase. The issue that I have is even though its a used car place how can they sell me a car that has body work without disclosing that? When I inspected the car I was clean and these things werent noticeable until examined closely. I checked the vin again no reported accidents however the car from bought from a auction in Rhode Island. Im am clearly well past my 5 day return window however I am contacting and attorney because that is plain out wrong! My experience was very stressful and long. If you wanna sell a car this is a good place for that. To buy a car Id advise purchase at your own risk. You really dont what your purchasing. Now Im stuck in a car I clearly dont know any history of! Oh and to top it off they ran a safety and recall check on the 28 June 2017 ( no recalls) then I purchase 29 June 2017 and boom a recall for the battery. So why wasnt the recall ran the day I purchased my car vs the day before? Completely dissatisfied!

All went brilliantly until I took delivery of the vehicle. The coolant low light came on. Luckily they had some on hand even though the service dept was closed. Day 2, Tire Pressure Sensor Inactive alarm went off. I took it to a repair shop that specializes in German cars and was told after hooking up their analyzer that all 4 sensors were bad. Wouldnt the Carmax 125+ vehicle inspection catch this? I returned the car to carmax service for repair since it was still under 30 day warranty. This is at most a 2 hour repair to replace sensors and reset the module. Because of their need to save $$, the car ended up at a repair shop unequipped with the tools or knowledge to do the job. In the end they were forced to have a authorized dealer complete the repair. The 2 hour repair ended up taking a week and a lot of my time wasted on something that never should have happened if the vehicle was checked before taking possession.
