I had the most awful experience today with an adoption agency that uses this petsmart location. My gripe with the adoption agency is that they publicize too much information about prior owners and it sends the wrong message to prospective adoptive parents about the animal. Yesterday one cat that was advertised included in its biography that the owners were evicted. That is sensitive information and does not need to be advertised. Today I visited again and a dogs biography included that the owner was incarcerated. That was very down-putting and should not be disclosed in the dogs public biography. I understand adoptive parents would like history on their animal but that should be disclosed behind the scenes and not plastered on their cages. It really sends the wrong message about people. For the dog whos owner was incarcerated, what is the likelihood of it being adopted if they are advertising that it came from a criminal. That is an awful why to try to promote adoption it may even ruin the chances of it being adopted sooner. It is very unethical to publicize information about people to hopefully attract a customer. Its very judgemental about people. I dont appreciate this kind of outreach work. The biographies I read were very condescending. I expressed my concern to one of the women who assists with the organization and she was very dismissive about my concern. She was abrupt and cut me off and demanded me to listen to her. All this in front of my child who wanted to see one of the cats. I had to tell her the way she handled my concern, also sent the wrong message about the organization she didnt care. I am the public. They should be concerned about how they send their message about prior owners, the animals in question, and the prospective owners they hope to acquire. My daughter was so upset and cried and this lady rudely dismissed us by the manner in which she said good bye. This was the most awful experience at Petsmart in North HAVEN CT. Only one of the managers was receptive to my concern. But Petsmart has a long way to go with customer service. I call the customer service number and I spoke with a representative who a also was dismissive of my concern and did not care to help. She made me feel that I was in the wrong, as if my concern was invalid. She also rudely told me to "have a good day" which sounded like "screw you". She defended the organization not even knowing anything about them or where this store was located. She made me feel that my concern was a lost cause. I wish I could say that I only encountered one isolated, awful experience but it seemed like every person I brought my issue to handled it the wrong way. I am highly upset of the degrading experience I had and how my daughter cried because this woman was so mean and nasty to us. I dont want to know anything about Petsmart again. I will have to buy my cats food elsewhere.

I take my two year old dog to get his nails clipped every month to Petsmart. I have taken him to Petsmarts in Dallas and in various other states, depending on where we were, and to this particular Petsmart for the second time. The Grooming Salon charged me an extra $6 for his nail trim claiming that my dog was too big (at 12 lbs how could this be?) and that he tried to bite them and this extra charge was necessary because a second person had to hold him. Never has this happened before. What I noticed was that instead of holding him close and trimming his nails as is usually done, the young attendant (who herself was petite at probably 90-100 pounds) had him on the counter and far away from her. I was charged extra for a service because of the inexperience of a young groomer. What every dog-owner knows is that you have to act dominant towards a dog and without fear to ally his fears. I disagree with this extra charge, which I voiced, and would not go back to the grooming salon at this particular Petsmart.

Very healthy fish. I was very happy when coming there and seeing clean, fresh water and healthy Bettas. Birds arent in the best condition in the world, so thats why Im giving it four stars, but overall is a very nice store for most chain petstores. This specific location meets all of my needs, and has rescue rabbits, dogs, and cats, which is unusual for chain petstores. Overall, a very nice store. Customer service is decent, not very informative but the employees are polite and nice. The addition of a section with chicken supplies makes me very pleased, as we normally have to buy chicken treats and supplies online. I recently got a halfmoon female koi betta, and she is the best most healthy, friendly and active betta I have ever owned. I love here dearly and when I bought her from the store the water was pristine, though in a tiny cup. Great live plants, great fish, and I certainly recommend this store.

My husband and I took our 4 year old daughter to pick out a hamster. We had gone to two other pet stores before petsmart and at the one in branford the prices were outrageous, and at the other store the person on the floor didnt really know much. The prices at petsmart are average, but I found their customer service to be excellent. We were helped by their store associate Lindsay, not only did she help us decide on the right kind of hamster for our daughter but she got us a cart and helped make sure we had everything we would need to give it a good home. I will definitely go back for anything our new pet or anything our other pets need.

It had very nice healthy pets and and was organized. They had so much variety but I couldnt really find what I was looking for. I needed a small light weight plastic ball with small holes in it so a guinea pig could pick it up easily. It might seem weird but Im trying to train my guinea pig to do tricks like fetching. If you dont believe that then go check out the channel Spartans Tricks to see. Im just saying maybe the store could add that. BTW I saw this cute guinea pig called Lenny up for adoption, I love him sooooo much♥♥♥!!!! I wish I could get him.... But Great Store!

Awful, awful staff and vet services. My dog saw another dog and barked. She gets excited and is anything but aggressive. The customer said, "Dont let that f*ucking beast near my dog". My boyfriend said, "f*uck off". We got kicked out for being a threat and using vulgar language when she had the first threat to our dog and swore too. She got to continue shopping while we were not. Guess they have a prejudice against pitbulls and people with gauges/tattoos. Great company. Will not be coming back.

My family and I visited the puppy store today. The store was very clean and we received help with seeing the puppy we wanted to visit. However when we requested to see another dog the person who was assisting us informed us that were only allowed to visit one dog. We found that very odd and became uncomfortable. He attitude towards us changed when we said we were no longer interested in the puppy.

im normally not into chain stores, but this particular petsmart has really impressed me. every time i go in they have cats up for adoption from local shelters. their fish are the healthiest ive seen in the area, and i was happy with their employees knowledge and helpfulness. they have a wide selection of food and supplies at reasonable prices.
