Elm Street Books is one of the best in the country offering outstanding literature for adults and children with weekly readings and book signings by famous authors.The bookstore has wonderful merchandise besides books including handmade cards, toys and gifts for all ages. If I want a particular book I call the bookstore and the friendly staff simply puts it aside for me to pick up at any time thats convenient for me. Elm Street Books is a non- profit organization founded by customers who love the store when the original bookstore closed due to competition from Amazon and other large booksellers who wont give you the same personal high quality time.

This is a wonderful local bookstore. They are helpful and community minded. One evening I needed a copy of a book last-minute, and when I called it was exactly closing time. They offered to stay open so I could drive there and pick up the book (after first checking to see they had it in stock). You wont get that kind of help at Barnes and Noble.

The staff are extremely friendly and engaging and the range of books was different from mainstream book stores which meant that I could find the perfect gift. This store is a must-see destination for all who visit New Canaan!
